Re: Would you feel confident in the series if it were left in Toyotarou's hands?
Absolutely not. Through the manga serialization for several years his art has somewhat improved, but he still hasn't met most of the basic criteria of a professional manga artist. His paneling especially is still quite bad. Also, he seems to fail to understand what truly makes Toriyama's creations ...

lol It's kind of crazy when I think what I captured myself ended up being officially released and brought to French people whom I don't even know. They could have reached me for something more for their release.

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
As already pointed out by some people, Toei's remaster has more dark detail. The reason is simple; Toei scanned the negatives. When you scan a negative, of course the darks are inverted so they're the whites here. More light passes through bright areas on film, so the scanner's sensor can pick up ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
Agreed I mean they have supposedly been working on this since what 2018/2019? If it takes you 3-4 years to produce CGI that to be quite honest is nowhere near up to par with industry standards for animated CGI movies. Then your CG dept is not competent or talented enough & you shouldn’t be ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
The production of this film has been taking too long even at this point. I think the sudden switch to full 3D CGI was not a good idea after all. They could have already released this before this mess if they hadn't taken the risk. In my opinion, they should have at least tested full CGI by producing ...

Yamamoto is Back
Since Yamamoto's scandal in 2011, I kept searching his name on the database of JASRAC , the biggest music copyright collecting agency in Japan, once a year or so to check if he's come back.
Recently, multiple pieces of music have been added to the database under the name of Kenji Yamamoto.

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
Well, someone pointed out that SV's upscale doesn't have Topaz-like artefacts so I proved it does, and also showed how you can almost replicate it single-handedly, which although may differ from the actual release to a certain extent, it's very likely to be caused by the difference in quality of the ...

Re: The History of Dragon Ball in Every Country
When I found a video on YouTube named "DBZ Urdu dub" over a decade ago it was nothing but the Hindi dub made in India. I pointed that out in the comment and the uploader furiously said to me that it's Urdu and from Pakistan. So I started to assume that it's always nationalistic nonsense when someone ...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
it's obviously Topaz Video Enhance AI that they used for this release. More specifically, it's the AI model named "Proteus - Fine Tune" on that program. I upscaled the DBox footage with this AI model and I got a result that is almost 100% identical to one of the screencaps from this release ...

- Look about as DNR-ed as Kai, but somehow looks to have a similar level of detail with an added, yet tasteful, amount of sharpening
About as much DNR'ed as Kai? No way. Though Kai 1.0 looked blurry, at least they didn't crush any details with extensive DNR filters and everything looked natural ...

Re: Has the "less cuts" in the YTV airings of the Westwood dub claim ever been verified?
The only differences I'm aware of between YTV and Toonami UK for the Westwood dubs are motion blur filters (to reduce epilepsy risks) applied to the UK airings. Allegedly GT episode 64 also had its full montage present on YTV whereas in the UK it was cut to remove the Japanese text scroll, but I ...

Re: Will we ever get a 4K Dragon Ball Z release from Funimation?
GT has never been distributed on film, so only Toei are able to re-scan the film masters. Of course Funi can upscale the 486i Digibeta footage they've got, but that would be pointless.MasenkoHA wrote: Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:18 am [Stares in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT don’t even have a blue ray release]

Re: Movie 10 and its inconsistent BGM mixing
My guess is that it was just a mistake of the producer of the soundtrack release, but there is a possibility that they could not find the stereo mix masters of the DBZ Movie 10 score because of some confusions possibly caused by the bankruptcy of Forte Music Entertainment, which was a company split ...

Re: What does the Japanese fandom think of the West’s version of Dragon Ball?
Most of the DB fans in Japan do not even care about foreign versions of the franchise simply because there's no need to do so, but from what I've been seen and heard, their reactions are mainly about how Goku sounds weird with male voice actors. Also I've seen a few people saying the Faulconer score ...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
It's 100% obvious that this is nothing but an AI upscale. Even if this looks superficially "better" than the DBox, there is still absolutely zero point in digitally upscaling something available on film. It's such a waste of resources and an opportunity.

Re: "ShenLong is Summoned"
That track features the second ShenLong leitmotif, which was used in DB Movie 3 , DBZ Movie 4 , and DBZ Movie 12
Used in DBZ Movie 11 and DBZ Movie 13 too. This is probably a variation of the first leitmotif of the Dragon Balls, so I guess this is not for Shen Long, but it became a little ...

there is also currently no known way of accessing the alleged Frontier Enterprises dub, but I've also speculated there may be privately sold cassettes somewhere as airlines apparently did this.
As I pointed out in another thread , their possible Dragon Ball dub is not in the complete list of ...
