Forgotten Hero wrote:So poor, they(apparently) sold the rights to the first 13 episodes of Dragonball. Damn....
They didn't sell the rights to those episodes, only the home video rights via a license agreement. Much like what FUNimation had with Pioneer with the original Ocean dub releases.

I never thought, nor heard of the rumor that Cancon quotas were the reason for the dub switch ups. The main rumors were that YTV (The Canadian broadcaster) was getting annoyed at the fact that FUNimation would send their broadcast tapes months after the last set (or Cartoon Network's airing), forcin...

GT Season One is the vapourware of DragonBall DVD releases.

I'm sorry, but what's the point of airing ONE episode of Dragon Ball Z? It's like I know in NY, it had DBZ on Cartoon Network, more specifically Toonami. Then, they announced that Toonami was also moving over to WB. And then on WB, they showed like 3 random episodes of DBZ. It was part of YTV's wee...

Well Atari is at Lepzig Game Convention in Germany this week, so I'd hope someone is able to squeze some information from them about this. It shouldn't be on the show floor, but it doesn't mean they can't tell more. And here I thought this year we would only be getting one DragonBall game in Burst L...

Isn't that Kidmark deal over 13 years old? That's plenty of time to get the episodes back me thinks.

............... ...................... It's not 'zee'? Yeah us Canadians, and many of the other former British colonies (US excluded) say "Zed", because it's British English. But this show was always known as DragonBall "Zee" here. That and GameBoy Color didn't do good t...

Being that Ocean's dub of these episodes were my first experience of these episodes I didn't mind it. I enjoyed Kirby Goku, although I don't particularily care for Matt Hill's Teen Gohan. This shows' theme always screwed me up on the alphabet. I'd always say "Zee" instead of "Zed".

I'd buy the Ocean dub DVDs if more were released passed the 1-53 mark. Since I prefer McNeil's Piccolo over Sabat. But hey, I got the sub on my DVDs, and that is awesome.

I'm sort of Necro-Posting, don't set the ban hammer on me!

The schedule changed, the shows aired on Saturday instead of Friday, and it actually was episode 1 of DragonBall Z. It was the old Saban-Era Ocean Dub, it even aired with the whole "Make Way For DragonBall Z Coming Up Next" bit.

Trillogy is definately a repack. I'm unsure if this "new" game is actually new. I don't think Atari has the money to still develop linear non-community based titles (this is how Phil Harrison envisions the company going), even if it did make a profit, it still has a lot of debt. Could it b...

But I'd guess that whoever it is that does have the TV rights in Canada (and similarly for the UK, for that matter) decided to make their own English dub rather than use FUNi's for whatever reason. Either that, or FUNi actually did have some TV rights in Canada and the UK until then, but lost it, a...

I have to agree with many other members here, I don't think Naruto has reached the popularity DragonBall Z had. Again, it's due to merchandising, I had DragonBall Z Party Supplies, School Supplies, Colouring Books, Walkie Talkies, Yo-Yos, etc. Naruto really seems to have only a limited Action Figure...

Does anyone remember that handheld LCD game? I remember that, for one reason or another, it had this random little Goku figure that you could remove from the top... I barely remember the FUNi edited dub(Me being Canadian), as YTV only aired that for a brief moment of time before something made them switch to the Ocean/Blue Water Cast, some say it was YTV saying the show wasn't edited enough, others say YTV couldn't stand the tape delays, either way, we got the ...

Ugh, you guys may hate the FUNimation dub of GT, but I hate Calgary's Blue Water dub. It was edited(mostly nudity, like DB), it looked like it was 20 years old, it had a weird cast, and it was the only version I watched on TV(At that time YTV still hated FUNimation). Yeah, they looked terrible. The...
