Re: I feel like the slow pacing for DBZ in the anime and filler works to its advantage

The Freeza arc is the only time I felt the pacing is truly terrible and as bad as people say it is, although the Cell and Majin Boo arcs had some pretty rough patches.

Re: Was GT a failure ?

In Japan, GT was initially a failure. The ratings were underwhelming and it caused Japanese fans to lose interest in the franchise thus leading to it being cancelled prematurely. We were discussing this last page but couldn't find any evidence or statement from Toei that it was cancelled prematurel...

Re: Has FighterZ made Budokai 3 obsolete? I UI

I’m admittedly not a huge expert on fighting games, but the Budokai games aren’t really all that difficult to learn. They aren't but they don't play like most fighting games and the games themselves never gave players a real incentive to get better when there's actually a lot more than what meets t...

Re: Has FighterZ made Budokai 3 obsolete?

For fans of DBZ media, probably. For fighting game aficionados? no. Precisely. Because for fighting game aficionados, Budokai 3 isn't a thing at all. To the hardcore, it's just another "2000s anime fighting game" that they might chuckle at and remember nostalgically before going back to exploiting ...

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread

Damn, that’s disappointing - what gives, when the game is going to sell regardless of the amount of “obscure” characters there are? Is pre-Z generally regarded as obscure in pop culture these days? It's more niche than obscure. Most western countries got DBZ first so many felt it was pointless watc...

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread

Complete gaming noob here: is there any space for Dragonball characters from the earlier arcs to be included in the game? I’m thinking largely non-ki blast using characters? Nam, Chi-Chi, Bora, Chappa, Tao, and King Piccolo are probably the chief characters I’m considering. As much as I'd love them...

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread

If you check the damage spark when it hits Tien, you can see it's minimal, which implies it's really weak. This is definitely Roshi's 'superdash'. The hit spark for superdash normally doesn't look like that. It's probably one of his special moves. They say he will have a leaping technique in place ...

Re: DB is not better than DBZ

Is Naruto and it's later half Shippuden treated the same way? One Piece is still called One Piece even after it's major Character changing time skip (aka main cast grows older), probably because they knew it'd still sell well without a name shift. Well for Japan, the Naruto anime was split into Shi...

Re: DB is not better than DBZ

People often saying Dragon Ball "isn't as popular" in the U.S., but the main reason is likely that it didn't get the same push due to not being quite as action-oriented. Of course it's not as popular, Funimation did everything in its power to make sure of that. Japan unfortunately aren't innocent e...

Re: Humble Background.

The idea Goku was ever from a humble background is debatable. The story initially treats him as “Here’s a boy with a monkey’s tail found in the wilderness and trained by the old martial arts sage who discovered him” It’s only retroactively where it was like “Actually he’s an alien whose entire race...

Re: What is your estimation of Toriyama as a writer?

Toriyama is the definition of brilliant yet lazy. He created one of the most popular and influential media franchises in history without serious intentions of doing so, but it's a well-known fact he often wrote things on the fly. He's an amazing artist / designer though and that's where he truly shi...

Did they say there was 30 frames per second for animation? That's a lot.
24, actually.

... Well, 23.976, really...

... Well, 23.976023976023976... recurring.
Still impressive considering most anime run at 12 fps.

Re: Toriyama "forgetting" Launch was the best thing that could've happened to her

The most likely Toriyama "forgot" Lunch is because he didn't know what to do with her. There's only so many jokes you can revolve around her schizo persona.

It's funny how some people damn Toriyama for "forgetting" as if she wasn't mainly just there for comic relief.
