Well, you have to admit that after Freeza, none of the Saiyans fought an above-Cyborg enemy without going SSJ. But I agree that base and mid-stage forms are quite nice. 2nd Stage Freeza is da-bomb.

I know who they are. What I don't know is why those embodiments of suck are in the game. If you don't like them, don't play as them. Frankly, I'm fed up playing as Piccolo and Vegeta, and look forward to play as Kewi or Garlic Jr for a change. The more characters, the more complete of a story mode....
