Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
The ending was still pretty miserable (I'd guess that must've come from Toriyama if it's the same in both versions), but I adored the first half of this chapter. Zamasu's plan was so much grander, and Goku and Vegeta preparing to make a final stand was amazing - Toyotaro understands these characters...

Re: Roshi beating up Freeza soldiers in ROF - not a problem
I wanted to see Muten Roshi in action again, and his scenes/presence are one of my favourite parts of the film by fair. It's been so long since we've seen Daiamo arc-Roshi, so it was fun to see him take charge and try to do his bit. Does it make sense that Yamucha, Chaotzu, and 18 weren't there too?...

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Even though I'm not a huge fan of having another tournament or seemingly having a parallel universe, the writing and character interactions feel really Toriyama-ish here (unlike most Super episodes) which is great. I loved seeing Tights, and that little exchange between Goku and Vegeta about their w...

Re: Super Episode 13 (04 October 2015)
Yay, the first episode in weeks that I've really enjoyed! I still think the battle was better (both from a character and choreography perspective) in BoG, but this episode had some nice animation and interaction between Goku and Beerus. I love the exchange about the headbutt ("That isn't flashy...

I agree that it's a very silly and pointless change, but at least it's (seemingly) a small, throwaway line. Easy enough for me to ignore

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
WOW! Now THIS is news to wake up to! I never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen. I mean, a new TV series with Toriyama doing the story?! I thought we'd get another movie, sure, but Toei must be really happy with how the series has been performing to do this. I wonder if Toriyama was the...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
How about having less transformations or non at all. I love power-ups, but the Super Saiyan thing just got over done. I would rather see Kaio-Ken any day of the week over Super Saiyan. You might want to look in into another form of entertainment if you think DBZ shouldnt have transformations or Sup...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
The new movie is probably around the time the Trunks TV special is set. Maybe Trunks will look a little older along with Goten. Looks like it's apparently one year before Gohan is killed by the cyborgs in the alternate time-line. Interesting...I guess the size of Trunks and Goten in BoG makes sense...

Is there, though? I mean, I get not supporting links to scanslations of the series proper (especially when the site's "scanslations" are just scans of the VIZ version :problem: ), but I never understood the problem with scanslations of things that don't and/or won't get an official Englis...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Something just occurred to me about about the battle with Freeza's army. Rather than a case of Goku/Vegeta not being able to defeat the army by themselves, what if Freeza tells his forces to go out and wreak havoc across Earth? Goku and Vegeta will be kept busy fighting Freeza, so the others have to...

*This was originally in response to a deleted post. As said post was removed, I decided to remove the quote. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Actually I don't think I've seen this brought up before, but what about when Raditz died? In the manga, Goku asks Enma Daioh about Raditz. This is what they say in the Viz translation: Goku - "Didn't he fight it?" Enma - "Indeed he did. But none defeat me." Goku - "Beating t...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Just wanted to say a quick thank you to SaiyaJedi and Kanzenshuu for the summary! I really enjoyed it! Toriyama has remembered a lot of little details and it makes the story so far feel like it could (mostly) fit into the manga continuity - I'm surprised he remembers King Cold at all! Or t...

Re: What Does Dragon Ball Have Over The Shonen Of Today?
For me, it comes down to a few things, but in general I consider Dragon Ball far superior to the more modern Shonen works. Please note that I'm talking about the manga, rather than the anime. Also, I love Fullmetal Alchemist - it's my second favourite series after Dragon Ball (for a number of the sa...

Re: So MLP Just Went DBZ....
dbzfan7 » Mon May 12, 2014 1:53 pm Am I the only one who thinks this looks like a bad flash cartoon with a budget? That was my first thought too. It just looks so...soulless. As for the actual fight, I think it's more a homage to the generic idea of a DB fight - beams, getting smashed through objec...

Re: What should Toei focus on after Kai?
In regards to the people who say that DB should be retired, I always find that attitude a bit funny. With something like Dragon Ball, the main story in the manga is complete - you don't have to watch/read any supplementary material beyond that to get the most out of the series. So if you don't like ...

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (incl. "DB Minu
That's neat! I never would've expected Toriyama to actually try and connect all of these one-shots together. This means that we now have 6 connected Toriyama stories - Sachie-chan, Jiya, Jaco, Dr Slump, Dragon Ball, and Neko Majin Z. Soooo...with all the talk about canon recently, anyone want to tak...

Re: Is DBZ the anime equivlent of a Michael Bay movie?
Well, I'd say he's more underrated in the west than in Japan. Actually to bring it back around to the topic, it's worth noting that (going off of the 'Dragon Ball Children' pamphlets from the Kanzenban) Toriyama's work had a pretty massive impact on many of the big names that write manga today.

Re: Is DBZ the anime equivlent of a Michael Bay movie?
I always find it funny when people say Dragon Ball is poorly written or just all mindless explosions. The anime certainly heads a bit more in that direction, but the manga? Certainly not. I've seen and detest bad writing (Final Fantasy XIII and the Star Wars prequels immediately come to mind), and e...

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion (Tankōbon April
Well, from reading the synopsis' that people have put up here, I am honestly a bit disappointed that Toriyama chose to override the Bardock special and do a rather different story. I don't think it helps that he only has one chapter to do the whole thing. With that said, I'll probably still enjoy re...
