Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 11
Don't blame me for not wanting the spoiled bologna sandwich. Ever. At all. Except in this case it isn't a spoiled sandwich. It's something a bunch of people seemingly want, even if it's something we don't. It's more akin to say, the person who went to New York once, and then rambles on for a decade...

Re: Seriously, why was the Westwood Dub so bad?
Though, also, looking back now, the early days of the in-house dub were pretty atrocious; especially Schemmel's performance (which is especially noticeable on the Orange Bricks since he was perhaps the only actor who didn't redo his lines so it sticks out big time how terrible he was). But over tim...

Re: Seriously, why was the Westwood Dub so bad?
Calling it the "Saban-dub" is confusing... Saban distributed it(sold it to television networks), but didn't do any work on it. Funimation did the script, hired The Ocean Group to do the voices, and Shuky Levi to do the music. Once again I'll make a case for Funimation/Ocean, Funimation, an...

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
The video quality is worse than I even thought was possible for DVD. How bad is it? Can you get some screenshots of the Pioneer DVDs? Certainly. I'm sure Mike put up some of his DVD at some point in history, but here's a few from Arrival. I skipped episode 1 since that one looks pretty rough in alm...

Re: Seriously, why was the Westwood Dub so bad?
It's easiest to refer to the dubs by the voice talent. Ocean, Funimation, and Ocean.
If we go by production then it's just:
Funimation, Still Funimation, and Westwood.
How about the following system:
Funimation/Ocean, Funimation, Westwood/Ocean.
Perfect.

Hey can I go off topic for just a tiny second :P I didn't want to make another topic. But I have plans on saving up for this http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Battle-Blu-ray-Special-Limited/dp/B00D0Z2JT2/ref=sr_1_4?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1383260450&sr=1-4&keywords=dragonball+z+battle+of...

Re: Seriously, why was the Westwood Dub so bad?
My obsessive, frankly borderline-retarded self really wants a DVD set of the Westwood dub, just to watch as a point of comparison. I've seen isolated clips on YouTube, sure, but it's hard to get a feel for it in situ.

Even if a person buys the Remastered set without knowing about the cropping issue, there's no way they won't notice. Like when somebody starts talking even though most of them is off screen. What I wonder about is the 1080p transfer that was made for the Remastered box sets several years ago. It see...

Filler is like that.
I make fun of the episode in the Pre-Cell Games Filler (TM) where Goku works on a ring puzzle, but it's actually one of my favorites. Most of the time if somebody doesn't tell you it's filler beforehand, ya just don't care (unless it's drawn like shit).

Coycoy's a fan? No way.
Frieza-Ginyu beat is one of my favorite rips you did. Now that's music to walk slowly to. Another good one was your Dr. Gero theme. I could never find that opening part in the released soundtracks, and it's easily some of the most intense dub music.

I think the lesson here is that Saiyan characters have such similar facial features you rely on their hair to tell them apart.
Picture 1 looks like Vegeta in a gi, picture 2 looks like Goku in his Bulmarmor.

LOL, well I hope it wont have missing areas like the bricks did. But I am still hoping it will look great. I hope, or maybe my hopes are high If you buy the US Blu-ray of Kai you won't any missing screen regions. You still get really smoothed over colors though, but that's just how Kai rolls. And s...

If you think you can actually compensate for nostalgia in your opinions, go right ahead and try.
For some fans it is the original music in their own personal universe; the experience they had in their formative years that can't be undermined by the acquisition of new knowledge. Hindsight is 20/20.

True, I aslo took look at amazon for the orange sets at Aspect Ratio: 1.77:1. But the Blu-Ray season one set (wich I want) 1.33:1. I heard that when Kai was on tv in Japan it looked great, I might be wrong. But maybe this time around it will be better than the orange sets. It looked pretty great. I...

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
Literally the entire score is this odd, synthesized mess that repeats itself for far too long... but the least offensive tracks would be Perfect Cell's theme and both themes for Majin Buu and Evil Buu. Wow, you're helping. I find most background music to be extended, looping stuff. That's the natur...
