Re: What are funny but dumb things you've heard a DB fan say
People who say you're not a "true fan" if you prefer a certain version (whether it be the Japanese, English, etc) Also I remember seeing someone say that the reason Freeza and Cell kept their bodies, but Vegeta didn't is because, "Goku is pure good, and Freeza is pure evil that's why...

Can't wait to start watching the kai version of the android saga uncut with a better dub. Better.... hmm. ;) I'm slowly building a version of the Parts releases (or whatever you call the ones predating, and smaller than the "season" releases) to try listening to the Japanese version with ...

Is it more involved than: "Hey, I collect Dragon Ball cards." "I also collect Dragon Ball cards." "Awesome let's fight!" *out of context fight scene ensues* Because you can replicate that effect with any of the Sparking games. Two random characters, walking down that on...

Lest we think that Funimation's the only company that can write poorly, anyone remember that bizarre scene during Gohan's training with Piccolo where he suddenly tries to play Shiratori with him? What the heck was up with that? He's a huge nerd. Shiritori is a school game, and Gohan wants nothing m...

That's exactly what it was originally produced like (minus those itty bitty redubbings) . Huh? :eh: I think he's referring to instances like, "Oh, this isn't good. I smell death in the air." Lines like that were re-dubbed after those episodes' initial broadcast (see podcast #66, I think)....

Put on your best commercial announcer voice and scream out: "Coming soon to Dragon Ball Heroes..... SUPER SAIYAN FOURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR MISTER SAAAAAAAAAAAATANNNNNNNNNN!" It's just wacky weirdness. Could be much better if it furthered the story a bit, or followed alongside Dragon Ball On...

Purchased DRAGON BALL Z: ROCK THE DRAGON EDITION . http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51SO-z7OMxL._SX300_.jpg Always wanted to own the Ocean Dub DBZ and especially the films with its dub so this is a perfect release. People say it would've been better if it were uncut but that'd mean FUNimation ...

Re: Dragonbox Overrated?
The level sets are a bit darker, but I didn't find it as dark as that (oft reposted) comparison shot. I suspect they were made with modern high contrast displays in mind, and depending on your settings will look better or worse. A lack of Japanese title cards is the biggest flaw for me; the singles ...

Were the old singles progressive scan? Even with a decent interpolation filter I never stop noticing the interlacing on the Z singles. The GT boxes were more recent so maybe... progressive? No, unfortunately both the singles and Green Bricks for GT are interlaced, but the Dragon Box version is prog...

In a lot of cases as well, international law is a bitch to enforce. It's as much politics as it is law. Not a lawyer, never saw the contract, have absolutely no idea! Long story short, anime is dumb. I mean laws are dumb. I mean both are dumb. Everything's dumb! No, Freeza Soldier A is dumb. (AHAHAH...

How is the presentation of the set? I'm curious about the booklet of facts and such. I already have the equivalent episodes of the Rock the Dragon set from the old Pioneer DVDs, but they are extra-less.Logan wrote:Got the Rock the Dragon box set about a month back. I'm enjoying it immensely.

I'm going to guess (with my minimal, even borderline nonexistent legal knowledge) that the operative word is "performance royalties."
The only thing it says they pay royalties on is "Funimation owned or operated networks." Is there a Funimation channel I don't know about?

Uncensored doesn't usually mean a new version of something, it's just the original version produced before edits had to be made to fit a certain rating. So there was no original Funimation version with swearing and "an accurate script" that got cut down for broadcast. Some scenes weren't s...

Funimation's publicly traded parent company, Navarre. And by extension their shareholders. Funimation isn't owned by Navarre, it's a privately held company owned by a group of investors (under the umbrella title of Group 1200 Media,) of which Fukunaga is the 'face' (and I believe the top investor, ...
