I think the argument that a Super Saiyajin transformation could go unnoticed is contradicted by the fact that even people like Kuririn, Yamcha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu were able to sense Freeze and Cold's arrival, and they hadn't even reached Earth yet. Anything with that magnitude of power on the pla...

Yajirobe is also sort of a comic foil to Goku. Here's another superstrong midget who lives by himself in the wilderness and eats gigantic animals, but he's somehow even less civilized than Goku is.

Why was anyone surprised Vegeta could turn SSJ?

Listening to the most recent podcast covering manga volume 29 made me wonder about this. It's probably another little Toriyama oversight that has no real explanation, but I also don't think I've ever seen it brought up before. Vegeta shocks everyone by revealing that he can become a Super Saiyajin, ...

I think it's something of a small miracle that Goku even bothers wearing clothes at all. It's not like he needs protection from the elements, and he's never been all that concerned with modesty either.

Wouldn't it be King Cold's empire to start with? If Freeza alone has at least 79 planets named after himself, surely Daddy has many more. Freeza was probably only granted a portion of the kingdom to look after until either he or Cooler ascends the throne.

Just listened to this podcast, and I have a couple of instances of "borrowed" Dragonball music that I don't think anyone has pointed out yet. First, listen to "Hand-in-Hand Fight" from Dragonball Z3 / Budokai 3 (track 8 on the soundtrack). Now pull out your copy of the first Cowb...

D'oh! I could have sworn Julian's object was going to be the stone arena for the Cell Games. Can't be held in your hand, used by a villain, could be construed as a location... I fail.

Of course, I don't know how Future Trunks would even be able to access that place. You would think that the Androids destroyed "the Lookout" Even if the Androids destroyed Kami's palace*, there's no way they're powerful enough to affect the dimensional gateway itself. It would still be th...

Because Mr. Toriyama is their homie, duh. They chill together on the weekends, have barbecues, you know.

One idea that Toriyama played with for a while and then dropped was that if a character watching a battle wasn't sufficiently powerful/trained, he wouldn't even be able to see the combatants, just an empty battlefield. I think it's only really used in the 23rd Budokai and the Saiyajin arc. I just no...

Re: How could Nappa have killed Piccolo?

Or you could read the two posts before yours that give the actual answer. Actually, in your post you state that Toei had created "a smarter way out" by giving Piccolo the technique, and I'm saying that wouldn't have worked to begin with. Besides, external answers ("Toriyama hadn't th...

Re: How could Nappa have killed Piccolo?

Oh yeah, when he was about to sacrifice himself for Gohan, why didn't he split into two and use the other one as a shield? Well, using that technique divides your strength by however many copies you make, right? Thus he'd become two half-strength Piccolos, and throw one of those in front of the bla...

How could Nappa have killed Piccolo?

This is probably another one of those DB questions whose only real answer is "shhhhhh...", but I'm going to go ahead and ask it anyway. During the Buu arc, Piccolo of course gets petrified by Dabura, and then Chibi Trunks accidentally smashes his "statue" into itty bitty pieces. ...

Unfortunately, that's because the kanzenban spine image depicts all the characters Toriyama could still remember.
