Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/25/1

Sounds all logical. So do people really say it like- Ca-carrot? Not talking about spelling, but pronunciation. Being Asian, and speaking multiple languages including some degree of Japanese, I'm particular about how many names get changed "Americanized/anglicized" so it's hard not to insti...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/25/1

This looked quite interesting. Just tried to watching the 1st episode. Unfortunately- the pronunciation of Bulma-->Blooma is too grating to my ears. More than it should be.. I understand completely the justification. Trunks is trunks - not torankusu. If Toriyama had made the full name "Bloomers...

In terms of Goku's voice, I most prefer (one of) the Chinese version they showed in Taiwan. It embodied Goku's light-heartedness, a bit of fatherliness, and was also masculine. It probably resembles the American version, if I can remember from the 5 episodes I watched. But i still give uber props to...

Grandpa Gohan and Goku's sleeping habit

Firstly, sorry if this topic sounds perverted. I haven't read my DB (Chinese version) manga in probably 10 years, but I recall that after Goku meets Bulma, when it's time to go to bed, he gives her the "pat pat" and is confused because she has no balls...javascript:emoticon('') It h...

Another fanmanga about the subject: Click on #27 http://www.geocities.jp/yone0329/gallery.html Basically, Goku forgets his ans Chichi's anniversary, and turns to Vejita for help. The rest you can follow on your own if you don't want the punchline spoiled. But read on if you don't care. V questions w...

since we're talking about that scene in the manga. For those who can read and understand some Japanese, here's a fanmanga that parodies the scene. http://www4.pf-x.net/~drops/page106.html On the right side menu, click on (not sure if the Japanese format is readable). 最愛の人・・・自慢大会(原作パロ). just to make another point about its popularity. last week a japanese program had DVD sales ranking (for all DVDs) and DBZ DVDs took 1st, 3rd and 4th place, despite the last release being at least a couple months old. In 2nd place was the popular Downtown (mastumoto/hamada) comedic group (you can yo...

Android18, langauge has a lot to do with this. That's why so many of us are taking offense to your comments. Here is a dictionary defintion of "to bash": To criticize (another) harshly, accusatorially, and threateningly You critize rather "harshly," and you make yourself out to b...

I for one LOVE Announcer "guy"'s artwork. She is on my deviantart watch. And her style defintely takes us back to Toriyama's older style. No art is perfect, and critiques can be appreciated if done maturely and well. So as a critique of a critique 1) USING "CAPS," LARGE FONT, AND...

Being in Japan right now- the answer is definitely yes, but not to the extent as it was previously. The main market is the now-adults who grew up with it as others have pointed out. But, DBZ is still everywhere. I recenlty saw a TV commercial with little kids dressed up as Goku- I can't recall the p...

Firstly, there are few more chapter scans to look at here, you have to scroll down a bit. So it should help clear a few things. http://tomcom.eek.jp/ And as much as I can figure out: After having a nice ol' spar with Uub, Goku suddenly goes crazy here..kills Uub. Piccolo explains that Goku is no lon...

Most popular characters in Japan?

Here was my train of thought today: I just came back from a trip to Tokyo Disney, and I noticed that the popular characters in Japan seem very different from those in the US. E.g. Donald Duck is for sure a U.S favorite, but he has little representation over here. One of the cats from Aristocrats (do...

I think the series is still going since the most recent addition is 1/1/07, but started in 2005. I'm in Tokyo right now  , so maybe I'll be able to find a copy at the Nakano Mandarake- which for those who don't know is one of the largest manga/anime stores with plenty of doujinshi used/new(?).

Japanese Fanmanga (Doujin) Sonogo no Dragonball

Hey, On the lines of well-drawn Japanese fanmanga (aka DBAF). Here is another one I recently found, called "Sonogo no Dragonball" by Studio Tomorrow. Takes places after DBZ, without GT. Not as well drawn as AF, but interesting nontheless. http://shirayuki.saiin.net/~omada/sdbup/index.htm F...

The reasons I didn't enjoy GT: 1) Annoying, superficial characters Esp. Pan who wins the award for most whiniest brat in anime existence. In fact Goten, Marron, Bra and Trunks, all seemed to be products / reflections of the Japanese "Amae" (spoiled) generation, as Gohan was a kid of the &q...

Dragonballs: how do they work and what are the rules?

I was thinking about why in Mirai Trunk's line, why they couldn't use the Dragonballs to revive people, when I then realized I'd forgotten a lot about how they worked... So, this probably has been asked before (I'll apologize beforehand), and if someone can direct me to a link or guide to find the a...

FYI, there was a small update (5/6) to the Japanese "Sparking!" page, if you haven't checked it out. Go to the character section (Piccolo added) and Game System for screenshots with Goku vs Vejita, Gohan vs Piccolo and Broli vs Janeba.

Voice Dubbing?

Sorry if this has been asked before. But I've been out of the DBZ gaming loop for the past 5 years or so, and am not familiar with any of the American versions. My simple question is whether or not the American games are usually dubbed, and if so, is there a language option for Japanese instead? I'm...

Japanese Fansites

Hi all (this is my first post): I've been surfing around Japanese sites lately. Just wanted to share with you what I thought were worth visiting, even if you don't know much Japanese. 1) Dounjinshi-parody (not the other kind) ;) http://www.geocities.jp/studioyahhoy/page062.html Lots of these are hil...
