I don't watch movies on TV because 90% of the time they are cropped/zoomed/pan & scanned to 16:9 from scope. Thank God for Blu-ray & Netflix (which is MOSTLY OAR).

If Funimation can't even get the aspect ratio right then what hope in hell is there? Everyone in this thread trying to defend this release = lol.

Of course they're selling well. Plasma TV's are better than LED TV's, Blu-ray is better quality than Netflix, real instruments are better than synthesized music/pop/techno, but most people prefer the latter of all these. Just because Funimation made this release to appeal to the lowest common mouth-...

I should've asked why they couldn't release this set with BOTH aspect ratios. That way the morons could have their 16x9 and eat it too whilst Funimation applies no DNR to the 4x3 option either.

Regardless, Funimation are a bunch of fucking hacks. How hard is it to scan the film masters at 1080p, attach a soundtrack and throw them out the door to distributors? THAT'S ALL WE WANT!

It personally baffles me that anyone wouldn't spend $400 on a 42" or $500 on a 50" plasma if they currently don't have an HDTV. Plasma's are awesome and dirt cheap compared to LCD's. I hear Target is gonna have some really cheap Element (no name) Plasma's come Black Friday for around $300....
