Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

I still maintain the belief that if DBZ aired in North America, once a week, with no filler cut, it would not have been as successful and would've turned fans off. Being on an endless loop for a good year (year and half for fans following the show in syndication) of the show being stuck from Raditz...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Why did you ignore Kunzait? He FINALLY gave you the answer you wanted... and you just ignore him. Are you really looking for an answer in good faith or just an echo chamber? Indeed. Please read the posts that are written, including and especially in this case, a Japanese fan explaining to you what'...

I still read DBZ Uncensored periodically. Chris Psaros was a pretty eloquent guy.
No, he really wasn't.

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Going back to 1999 in North America though, no, I don't think it would've worked well. But it did. It was popular in syndication, which is why CN took notice. I think you are looking at this purely from your POV. While filler was talked about back in the 90s, it wasn't nearly as big of a sticking p...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Well, I definitely mea culpa to that. You're absolutely right that it has nothing to do with the thread. But come on. Why single me out specifically when I neither started this conversation nor have contributed the most posts about it? :P Because you are the big kid here and you should take respons...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

If the original DBZ anime aired in weekly format, no, I don't think it would have worked out. The episodes that were first-run syndication did run weekly and it did well in the ratings by the metrics of syndication. Even being the number one syndicated shoe at least at one point http://dbzu.3gkai.c...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Actually Toonami tried the "One episode each weekday" for Super...and it got killed in the ratings. The one episode a week ran with much much much better ratings. Its not just a Japan thing. Heck, even the Toonzai weekly broadcasts did great. You completely ignored the main point of my argument whe...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Digesting an entire saga of Dragon Ball Z, 5 days a week for a few months, then taking a break, then repeating the process is still better than the Japanese way of doing it. At least, in my opinion it is. Much better really.

It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV. When you look at just how much filler there was, how much things dragged on, and most importantly, the fact that they only got 1 new episode a week, it's amazing that it was as big of a hit as it was. Here in North America, we were defini...

Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

I used to have the YTV rip of the Blue Water dub. The only real difference between YTV's version and the UK version is the final episode. YTV's version keeps the original Japanese ending completely intact. Dan Dan is played in it's entirety. The UK edits the shit out of it. That's the only differenc...

Not really related but pretty cool nonetheless. I don't know who this person is but if they have the commercials from when the dub aired, you'd think they would have the dub itself.

Re: Chris Sabat wanting Scott McNeil to play Piccolo - A Kai Urban Legend

There's a reason VA's do so many conventions around North America. That's where they get a bulk of their income from since it doesn't pay much to be a voice actor.

I've been out of the loop for awhile on this and just recently caught up on everything as far as I know. One very disturbing trend I keep noticing again and again... Seriously, why is everyone online in support of Vic and against Rial? Every youtube video, every message board, every comment I see, c...

Re: So Vic Mignogna is going to Super World Con this weekend. Should I get my Broly Funko Pop signed or not?

I deleted my picture with Vic. I met him back in 2017 at Fan Expo and got a photo. I was very happy to delete that photo when the allegations came out and had no problem doing so. And I completely wiped it out from social media too. It's long gone. Yes, I paid for that photo and I was still glad to ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Sad thing is, Vic isn't paying a dime for this "lawyer" All of his legal expenses are being paid for by those crazy fans that set up the GoFundMe page. I wonder how those donors are feeling now seeing their money being spent on this shit?

Re: Vic Mignogna

I'm not great at making heads or tails of most legal-ese, but yeah, from what I was getting out of it, it sounds like he and his lawyers just keep changing the date and trying to get to go first, only for Vic to completely fail to show up at all when he was supposed to. You've got to wonder what th...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It's really shitty that people actually fell for this release and all 6000 got sold. Such bullshit and once again, Funimation now has no reason to change. Except it didn't sell that amount, it sold about 3,500 copies as far as I can tell. I don't understand? The website says it's sold out. Why woul...
