Re: Goku's long absences in the story

Goku doesn't have long absences in the manga, which is the official canon. It was only a thing in the anime which was loaded with filler. The anime filler took Goku's absences and magnified it big time.

Re: What is the difference between Toriyama's Dragon Ball, and what other people come up with?

I'm one of the few people in this community that thinks the Akira-less Dragon Ball GT is better than Dragon Ball Super, which I think is a pile of shit. So in that case, what "other people" came up with was better!

Re: Is it time to accept Faulconer OST did it better than the original?

This is my simple take. Most of the Faulconer music sounds great on it's own, away from DBZ, as standalone music. However, when it's placed in DBZ as an actual soundtrack to the series, it's fucking awful. I'll take this song for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flJbl2Ebzkc I really like it ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Kitchener Con is a joke. Inviting Vic a washed up voice actor accused of harassment is bad enough but then they invite Nick who literally has nothing to do with fandom . I’m sure Vic’s crazy fans will think this is a win but Vic probably will say yes to any con that invites him. And yeah I am sure ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Pretty sure they picked like a dozen cues and just threw darts. As for Kai tracks being reused in other shows, I think that's entirely possible. At one point, the Z score used a track from the 1995 Ocean dub pitch for Magic Knight Rayearth , and a variety of other such odd intermixes of shows' scor...

And I forgot to add, the latter exchange between Masenko and I was totally fine. I've got no issues and feel this has been blown out of proportion.

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

Can you please point to the post where I said I was being disrespected? I'm really curious because no where did I say that. Ever. Not one time. I called the post arrogant and obnoxious because it read like angry nerd rage. Maybe the arrogant part was too far and I apologize for using that word. I'm ...

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

I believe in being civil, respectful, and mature everywhere in life, especially as an adult. I'm not sure why that's a topic you disagree or feel so strongly against. The fact that you took what I said and took it to the extreme, put words in my mouth, and went as far as to bring Hitler into the con...

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

Yes , I find the Season 3 english dub on the remastered sets with the Japanese music and the re-dubbed parts to be passable. And just to be clear I do agree with you that restoring the Japanese music did go a long way in making the dub more listenable. It’s still really bad but the power of Kikuchi...

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

There was NOTHING objectionable about the way that Masenko expressed his viewpoint. You tagged him as "arrogant and obnoxious", when all he did was disagree with you point by point. He was sarcastic and snarky about it, yes: but the sarcasm was very clearly directed squarely at the dub itself. At N...

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

Take a deep breath Kunzait and calm down man. He's talking about the production value of a children's cartoon show. From 20 years ago. And an incredibly cheap, shoddy, and rinky dink amateur-hour level of production value for such by ANY sensible standards. This isn't exactly Hitchcock's Rear Window...

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

Arrogant and obnoxious posts such as yours is why our community gets such a bad rep. Good grief. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with disliking a particular item within the fandom but at least carry yourself with a bit of class and respect when you express your opinion.

Re: In retrospect, was the (US) Dragon Box a 'monkey paw' release?

the 1999-2003 in house Z dub (uncut or edited) is an awful, inaccurate and heavily altered "reversioned" interpretation of the series in both script and dialogue that is not a good adaptation in any meaningful way toward the original version. Slightly less so but still far from is the '07 Orange Br...

Re: Rumor related question about Nozawa

Funimation considered replacing Sean at one point, when he moved from Texas to New York many years ago. Sean however, solved Funimation's concern when he offered to pay for his own flights to Texas to continue voicing Goku. (then eventually later on, Funi started paying for his flights) Never heard ...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

I still maintain the belief that if DBZ aired in North America, once a week, with no filler cut, it would not have been as successful and would've turned fans off. Being on an endless loop for a good year (year and half for fans following the show in syndication) of the show being stuck from Raditz...

Why did you ignore Kunzait? He FINALLY gave you the answer you wanted... and you just ignore him. Are you really looking for an answer in good faith or just an echo chamber? Indeed. Please read the posts that are written, including and especially in this case, a Japanese fan explaining to you what'...

I still read DBZ Uncensored periodically. Chris Psaros was a pretty eloquent guy.
No, he really wasn't.

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Going back to 1999 in North America though, no, I don't think it would've worked well. But it did. It was popular in syndication, which is why CN took notice. I think you are looking at this purely from your POV. While filler was talked about back in the 90s, it wasn't nearly as big of a sticking p...
