Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Thanks man! Always coming in with that information. Huh... interesting to see that coloring are done by colorist teams. I always assumed that the creator does that at some point in the future, but based on what provided, it doesn't seems to be the case (similar to the colorist team in the United St...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

But, yeah, there's also the argument that, why the fuck even give him a senzu bean in the first place?! I never expected him to kill Moro after Moro was helpless and begging for mercy. Of course Goku wouldn't kill him, and there could have been any number of logical reasons for Goku to give Moro a ...

Re: There being no need to heal Moro: If Goku were interested in seeing if he might take him up on his offer—even if he expected Moro to attack him, as seems to be the case—he had to heal him. A wounded Moro would be forced to comply; the test is what he’ll do when he thinks he can still fight back ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

So what you are saying he'd rather kill him à la Cell, as in while Moro is standing and fighting instead of kneeling and begging because Goku couldn't stomach doing someone in like that? I mean that is perfectly in-character for Goku and I could definitely see that being his reason instead somethin...

Re: I think its time to admit that Toyotaro is a terrible writer.

Rehashing things isn't great by any means, but I only remember the anime doing it for certain scenes- Vegeta's Final Explosion in the Tournament of Power for example, which was easily the worst it got. But copying whole plot points is on a different level, and that's what Toyotaro has been doing th...

Re: The Super Re-Read

So, the statement that you have to leave the controls the same to access the same timeline instead of just making a branching one makes a lot of sense, in and of itself, and it's supported by the fact that Trunks's own actions did this in the first place with 'our' timeline. This would have to mean...

Re: I think its time to admit that Toyotaro is a terrible writer.

Not going to stop anyone from having an opinion on one version of Super or the other, but I am ... pretty baffled by propping up the anime and putting down the manga specifically on a shared criteria of "repeating things from Z in a shallow way" as a negative. Were we watching the same Super anime?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

What if in the next panel, realizing Moro can't change, one punches him to death, ending the story  You joke, but that's genuinely how this beat reads? Goku doesn't execute downed, begging opponents, so he gives Moro the chance to go down fighting, essentially. Just in case there's a one-in-...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

And for the coloring pages, aren't they colored by Toyotaro, or done by another colorist just like the Dragon Ball colored manga a few years back? Either way, I'm surprised at the colors for some characters, neutral on it or just indifference. The color Super volumes are done by uncredited colorist...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Part of the reason i asked is that the manga colours have their own certain continuity and seem to be of a higher quality than most other full colour releases, not sure if that was due to the prestige of the series itself or because Toyo himselfwas doing it and taking care to get things right. I ag...

Re: The treatment of Vegeta in modern dragonball, good or bad?

Since Super he has been written in a very stereotypical Cell arc manner and jt has definitely become a real bore to slog through. I was hoping we could finally get Vegeta with a new character dynamic, playing straight man to Gokuu. What a shame. There are several flashes of him in this role in the ...

Re: Merus: His coloration is consistent with how he's been presented in Toyotarо̄'s own color illustrations. I certainly wouldn't fault the colorists for giving him the blue-skin/white-hair combination all other angels have when he reveals his identity, though, even if no dialogue references anythin...

Re: How Would Moro Arc Piccolo Fare In DBZ?

The only other statement is Goku saying 17 is about on their level but that could have been a collective our for a team that included Kuririn Ten Piccolo etc. There's a bit more to it than that. Goku finishes talking about how he wishes he could have beaten Jiren one on one, and is shocked by how s...

Re: I absolutely hate the idea of Beerus having ANY type of UI..

I have no problem with it, since it’s been baked into the concept from the beginning. The very first time Whis introduces what would become the seed of the idea of UI in “F,” iirc, he references that kind of fighting remaining difficult even for Beerus. It’s always been a technique encouraged by ang...

Re: How Would Moro Arc Piccolo Fare In DBZ?

I can only assume you haven't seen any of his fights in Super or paid much attention to them, or you've just lowballed every single character to their absolute lowest point beyond what's evident in the fights. If everyone needed a statement to contextualize power then we wouldn't be able to figure ...

Quick responses to bits and pieces: But first--Excellent exploration of Zamasu's character! Way to put all that together. I'm curious how the Kaioshin of the parallel timelines view the relationship between their own timelines and the others - Gowas speaks as though it's clear that the 'main world' ...

Re: What Inconsistencies &/or Retcons You Wished Were Never Made In Dragon Ball Super?

I think there's a big difference here though. Piccolo had already spent 4 years on Earth not causing any trouble between the end of Dragonball and start of DBZ, and although he was obviously still going to be Goku's enemy, they were able to put it aside a lot easier. His father King Piccolo was alr...

Re: What Inconsistencies &/or Retcons You Wished Were Never Made In Dragon Ball Super?

Having just recently rewatched the Namek arc for the millionth time, Goku acting buddy buddy with Freeza in the TOP doesn't sit right with me. I also don't think Vegeta and Krillin would be ok with him being there either if this story was written over 20 years ago. Just feels wrong if you rewatch t...

Re: How Would Moro Arc Piccolo Fare In DBZ?

My only issue is when others completely invalidate the gains he's made. I saw Perfect Cell-tier and Cell Jr-tier. I know the power scaling isn't always clear, but no one can really believe that he is still Perfect Cell-tier . But it's no surprise, Piccolo's been downplayed since the days of the Bas...
