Re: Do you dislike the Dragon Team vs Moro goons part of the arc?
I've noticed it's a polarising segment, as people either love it or hate it.
I'd have to say personally I disliked it when first reading it because it felt like a waste of time since they're inconsequential battles we know could be resolved in a second by any of the stronger fighters, but ...

Re: How would you fix Daima?
Now that it's done, I stand by:
1. Cutting the length by half. A full half.
2. Not introducing the continuity question-marks. It's small potatoes, but why bother adding that distraction or, I guess, making the audience feel silly for even caring about a linear metastory, even though that was always ...

Inclusive of the manga and movies? Super, via them.
TV shows only? GT is the only one I'm ever likely to want to rewatch in full.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
So, yeah. I didn't like Daima.
I've read this story a dozen times through Toriyama short manga, but they have all three of the 1) original and mutable adventuring casts, 2) pacing of Toriyama's self-drawn works and 3) scene-by-scene scripting and timing of his self-drawn works to sustain themselves ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I think anyone suggesting that there won't be a big confrontation with Black Frieza at some point in the future is kidding themselves. It doesn't have to be the next arc. It doesn't have to be the last arc. It doesn't even need to be the climax of its own arc, but it must happen. Is it trite to ...

Re: All of the villains could have been defeated with 2 simple techniques
Are we sure the Mafuba even works on someone that much stronger than the user? Basically no other Dragon Ball abilities do, and I think that's part of what Piccolo so easily reversing it was meant to show--it wasn't going to stay viable.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I really didn't think the series was ever necessitating, nor even working toward a Black Freeza-as-villain-arc upon his debut, nor even after the first chapter of the Super Hero arc.
I do think he was likely to play a secondary/unwilling-ally role in another arc, if that isn't still in the cards ...

Counterpoint: This cover fucks.
And yes, you can see US superhero book influence for sure.
Also...is this the last volume? It kind of matches the contents of the volume, but it also seems like a very holistic kind of image to go out on.

Re: Rank the various arcs of the franchise
Did you not prefer the anime's take on the Zamasu arc? Or am I misrembering, and it was just the ending?
There's no whole arc I prefer in the Super anime to its equivalent in the manga, but I think specifically the final episode of the arc in the anime might be stronger than the manga's more ...

Re: Rank the various arcs of the franchise
I really can't rank arcs between series. The original ten manga arcs would be over everything else, even if I sometimes have more fun rereading bits of Super than my lowest ranking portions of the original series--they're setting up their own iconography and generally just being a joy on every ...

Re: Do you consider Uranai Baba's Tournament part of the Red Ribbon Army arc?
1) There's no resolution to the story until the end of the Uranai Baba tournament, so where else would it break if not there?
2) The arc starts with Goku searching for the four-star ball, and ends with him reuniting with the grandfather that gave it to him and deciding to let it go as part of a ...

Re: If Daima becomes non-canon to Super, then what was the point?
They're already so hard to reconcile story-wise that I'm basically in the camp of assuming they're their own things with shared cosmology (universe designation numbers, the Namekians' origin, etc.) until told otherwise.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
I have now caught up.
I never want to hear anyone say the Granolah arc's back half is just characterless action-figures fighting again.
I don't know when the last time I was this unengaged during a DB climax was, if ever. For as much as Super (TV) could be frustrating, at least character beats ...

Re: Daima and its implications for the Battle of the Gods
This is bullshit. Fucking Bullshit. Goku had this new form all along and he didn't use it against Beerus in Battle of Gods, against Zamasu, or against Jiren? Why didn't he attempt to fuse with Vegeta in Battle of Gods if he knew Vegito could go Super Saiyan 4?
Why didn't Goku show it to Beerus ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
This is just something I've been musing on for the past few days. When people (myself included) say Goku's transformation didn't land with them, didn't feel connected to a story, or properly set up, I see the counter always being presented as, "Well, isn't Neva just doing the same thing that the ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
I am a bit torn this week. The series is great when telling stories… there was virtually no story this week, just pandering. It’s the same problem I had with Granolah arc.
Just action figures fighting.
The character-writing and story is a lot more interesting in the Granolah arc than what we've ...

Re: Does Trunks Time Machine have to travel 1:1
Super (both versions) say yes. The original manga says no, as Trunks waits eight months refuel the time machine between trips in the Cell arc, from his perspective, but arrives in the main timeline again three years after his last visit, on the day of the androids' attack.

Do you guys think those fusion bugs are going to be used on Goku and Vegeta?
Glorio or Shin fusing with Goku was my first thought when those things debuted, but Glorio doesn’t seem to be that strong, and Shin cowering behind a rock this episode tells me he’s not going to get much cooler than he ...

Cut seven episodes from the runtime.
Maybe cut down Vegeta, Piccolo, Bulma and Hybis' support to the end.
