Re: Stereotyping

It's not a good idea to bring in the first volume of Dragon Ball into school with you and let your friends look at Bulma showering naked, especially when, for some, it's their first impression of the series. Tell me about it, Only yesterday I had a friend, and a somewhat fan of the series, over and...

Re: Why did Vegeta need to have his nap time?

I recall this being one of the only parts of the series where a character (hero or villain) makes a point of catching up on sleep during the entirety of the series. Right now, it being as late as it is here, and with me having a bit of a beer buzz, I can remember only this one, and Boo on the lookou...

Re: Help with the TV Special releases

Thanks a bunch guys. It does seem apparent that I'll need to make some kind of compromise.
I'll go with the latest singles for the time being.

And I have to stop being so damn picky. Maybe I've hanging out at places like this is rubbing off on me. ;)

Help with the TV Special releases

OK, I've been through the archives, and the DVD guide on the site doesn't really answer my question, but I've been looking for any information on what releases of the TV Specials would be best to buy. I've wanted to buy them for a good while, but have held of for fear of wanting to replace them late...

Re: Losing interest...

I hadn't been too interested for a while up until a few years back. I was 17 and studying for my exams, when some spare cash allowed me to import the first 3 orange sets. I quickly fell in love with the series again while watching it in my down time between studies, and now and again found myself wi...

Re: Dragon Boxes $26.99 on Amazon.com

For the third volume at least, this means £18 for me over here. Paid tomorrow too, f***in' whoopee! Think I got the second one for like £16 thanks to the Amazon's golden box deal.

Re: International Title Cards - Is It A Problem For You?

FUNimation's cards (at least on the orange bricks) were more or less identical to the japanese were they not, ignoring the dub's own episode titles? That was a nice feature that would have even been appreciated on the DBoxes, but either way it's of no real concern. Can the same be said for the title...

Re: Best DBZ AMV you've seen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lrQFLJ5Ad0&feature=related Always brings back memories, a remake of one I watched years ago on Majin Planet (which was also a remake I believe.) Not very flamboyant when it comes to editing, but pretty sweet. There was an older version that included japanese dial...

Re: Funny Dub Lines

Do TFS lines count?

Freeza: "I'm making a mental list of how many times I've heard certain lines."
Namek Warrior: "Well... We're... Gonna, uhh... F**K YOUR FACE!"
Freeza: "Oh my... 12"

I just wanted a reason to post that, regardless. My apologies.

Re: DBGT vhs box set

Looking a little further, I see all sorts of foreign vhs releases. I have no idea who released what, where, when or even how, but european licensing must have been a total mess back then. :?

I can't find anything on a Manga Entertainment release of GT at all. This is more than likely a polished bootleg. Still, looks pretty nice.

Re: Favourite character

I kinda like Ginyu, mainly for the daft poses, but also maybe because, outside Freeza, he was the villain who's presence and eventual defeat forced Goku and Vegeta to co-operate. Well, before Vegeta pulled his wee stunt and left Goku on his lonesome. I like Piccolo too. It's a shame he spent too muc...

Blue Water GTlast Dragon: "Any last words before you die?"
Vegeta: "Yeah! You're UGLY!"

Not the most hilarious, but all the best ones were taken.

Funny dub lines! FUNi! These aren't your dads puns! That was terrible.

Re: If an accurate re-dub surfaced, would you watch it?

I'm sort of past caring about the dub now, but I would definetely peek at a few episodes.

And hopefully it wouldn't mean selling my dvds yet again to afford a home release of said re-dub

Re: Wishing the Dragon free

I'm thinking of when the Dragon tells Bulma and the gang that he can't exceed the power of his creator. He is dependant on Kami's power, and his life depends directly on the life of whoever created him. If you were to somehow remove him from the balls, and thus a position where he can utilise the po...

Re: The anime portrayed Goku as being more affectionate?

Still it's better then Saint Seiya, where the main character lies unconsciousness on the floor for the whole saga when everyone is fighting hard with their life on stake and after 30 episodes he gets up and performs his signature attack and everybody shouts his name. Others are laying on the floor ...

Re: Embarrassed watching DBZ?

Still, no big public discussions about Dragonball, though. I attract the kind of people I don't wanna talk to that way. This is more or less what embarasses me. With the kind of company I keep nowadays, I can't be heard bringing DB up in conversation in too serious a capacity, because it simply ali...

Re: Embarrassed watching DBZ?

Of all the social circles I'm part of, I'm the only one who still cultivates an interest in the series. I have two other friends who like it, one who just remembers enjoying it as a kid, and another who just watches online bootlegs now and again. Anyone else I know has either had to silently accept ...

Just how far did Freeza's empire reach?

So I was over on the general discussion board, reading the topic on GT villains' screentime, when I got thinking about a post someone made about the seeming ignorance of the history of Freeza's empire. My GT chops are a bit rusty nowadays, but as I recall the Black Star Dragonballs spread around the...
