Re: Vic Mignogna has lost his appeal and must pay out more and the appeals opinion is that he is a sexual predator

So they can dehumanize and cause harm with their attitudes and actions and that's okay by you? I don't mean to speak for 8000 Saiyan , so they should feel free to correct me if I'm interpreting them wrong, but I think what they're saying is that it's OK to separate the art from the artist. I'm incl...

Re: Vic Mignogna has lost his appeal and must pay out more and the appeals opinion is that he is a sexual predator

There are two "factions" of ISWV. The first are actual fans who, in spite of all the allegations against him, continue to support him because they're a fan of him and his work. How is this even possible Can someone explain to me what widely acclaimed and recognized work Vic has done besid...

Re: Vic Mignogna has lost his appeal and must pay out more and the appeals opinion is that he is a sexual predator

ISWV never cared about Vic's career or his well-being. They just wanted to confirm their bias in whatever imaginary crusade they think they are on (see SJWs are taking over the world, ahh feminism, etc). Had they cared for Vic, ISWV would have given him a useful advice: hire a PR agency, apologize ...

Re: DB doesn't really belong to Toriyama anymore, does it?

I'm actually curious to what degree Toriyama legally "owns" Dragon Ball. Plenty of IP creators don't own the rights to their creations. Heck, Sylvester Stallone is still bitter about how he doesn't own the rights to the Rocky franchise.

Re: Extremely annoyed by English language credits and episode title cards on DB Super blu-rays.

Meh, English-language credits don't bother me. *shrug* That said, I suppose that, for those who do care about that, the best approach would probably be the approach that Netflix takes for all of their shows: show the credits as they appear in the original language, and then roll silent black title c...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 12; Still Unreleased

Ocean are masters at preventing their video materials from being leaked, to the extent some actors have had difficulty getting clips for their convention panels. It sucks because when Funimation was dubbing Super there was one convention where fans were given a preview of the Future Trunks arc. Dit...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 12; Still Unreleased

Finished it today; he was fantastic to talk to. I won't be posting it until October, but figured I'd post some details here. I asked about Trunks and he unfortunately couldn't remember who it was (I clarified that it wasn't Alistair or Matthew). He said he was pretty sure they were allowed to use c...

Re: Has any user grown up strictly on Dragon Ball Super?

For what it's worth for anybody interested, there's a website called " DBZ Uncensored ," which kept track of the changes FUNimation was making to the show--in every respect, from the visuals, to the writing, to the music, to the casting--and the guy who ran it, Chris Psaros, never held bac...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 11; Still Unreleased

I'm going to be interviewing Brian Drummond tomorrow and I'd like to bring up DBZ Kai briefly, but I don't wanna spend too much time on it. I was thinking of asking about if he remembers who voiced Trunks and if he said "over 8000 or over 9000". If you guys have any suggestions for questi...

Re: Has any user grown up strictly on Dragon Ball Super?

I suspect there probably are people who grew up strictly on Dragon Ball Super , but something I've noticed about Dragon Ball -- and fandom in general -- is that we don't become aware of who the new fans are until years later. Back when the Ocean dub of DBZ was first airing, a whole new generation of...

Re: English Dubs Outside of Funi and Ocean

Ocean's dubs have something to do with Funimation initially subcontracting their dub through them. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics but someone more in the know can explain that. The only person truly in the know about this subject would be Ken Morrison, the head honcho over at Ocean. I'm kin...

Re: English Dubs Outside of Funi and Ocean

Y'know, as laughably terrible as the Speedy dub (aka the Malaysian English dub) is, it does have one legitimately good thing going for it: its M&E tracks are spectacular. The sound effects and music are in crystal-clear quality, far and above most other dubs. .........That it got wasted on the ...

Re: Chris Sabat on King Kai's English and Japanese voice

I dont think Sabat mean to be insulting and I can kind of see where he's coming from (for me it just adds to King Kai not being who you think. Agreed, I don't think he meant to be insulting. He may not be aware that Yanami voiced both the narrator and King Kai, but there's a difference between not ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z set to air on Azteca 7 in Mexico

Estimating that they will be broadcast now in the HD format distributed by Toei, it has not been announced when they will arrive, but it is expected that their premiere will be soon in the programming. HD, eh? This part intrigues me. I'm wondering what video masters they'll use. Will it be the orig...

So Japan was interested how other countries dub their shows? Wonder how that reporter would react to Harmony Gold dub? Behind-The-Scenes Video of Dragon Ball French Dub in 1988

To anybody else who thought this might be interesting, I found a neat little video today. It actually appears to be a Japanese TV show, but it's filming and interviewing the French dub cast of Dragon Ball in action in the year 1988. Since they dub using the rhythmo-band method, the cast is able to r...
