Re: Level 1.1 back...in stock?

Any word from Funimation on why they chose to start reprinting this release?

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

Ok I unsubscribed. I really tried to keep an open mind and didn't want to go into some "Waaah give me Abridged and Ghost Nappa funnies!" mindset; but this new content is seriously...lame... "30 something year old dudes talk about media for over an hour" shows are already a dime a dozen online, and s...

Re: Freeza Saga Son Gohan humming Makafushigi Adventure in French dub

Goku hums it in the Funimation dub of GT during one of the episodes with the six star dragon.

Edit: Wait, missed Valerius' post.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Still, I'd even take the filler music and less memorable tracks over the Wasserman score. For all it's shortcomings I still think the in-house Funimation score is the superior of the two in every way. The only time IMO the Ocean score was memorable was during the Ginyu Force introduction, where the ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I dunno. I can hear the faults in Team Faulconer's music, but I at least remember it and sometimes listen to it, or perform it to myself. I don't think I've ever caught myself humming anything from the Saban score.

Re: How do Tullece and Goku look alike?

I always thought it's established that a ton of the low-class Saiyans all look similar. On that note I've had the headcanon for a long time that it's also the in-universe reason for why the Son family and Tullece are all voiced by Masako Nozawa; that voice just being something that comes with that p...

Re: Why does Infinite World get overlooked?

The game never even released in Australia so I couldn't play it. That and Sagas were the two DBZ PS2 games that never saw a release in Australia. I never cared to play them because I heard so many bad things about them. Huh? I hadn't actually gotten into DB at that point, but I distinctively ...

Re: Goku's long absences in the story

This is something I've noticed ever since I first started watching the show. I remember back when I was 13 thinking "The show is more or less about Gohan growing, and Goku just comes in and beats up whatever bad guy."

Re: Casting Akira Kamiya as Bardock?

In the unpopular camp that Masako Nozawa is a good choice for Bardock and plays him well. That said if anyone else in the Japanese version should voice him, it's Shigeru Chiba.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

More of an unpopular opinion in this part of the fandom only; but as someone who was introduced to the series via the Kikuchi score and usually watches the series with Shunsuke Kikuchi's music I cannot for the life of me understand people who say that the Shuki Levi/Saban replacement score was bette...

Re: State of the Kanzenshuu: Wiki Status Update

Just popping back in to say congrats on the progress. Not really involved with the DB fandom anymore but I recognize what a huge deal this is. Like I remember talks about the wiki nearly 10 years ago. Can't even imagine the amount of work that's gone into it.

Re: Why wasn't DB Kai a completely new animated series?

In hindsight, Kai reusing old animation was probably the best choice. If they did redo it from the ground up, it would have been done on the budget of an old Scooby Doo episode. Also it was visually a nice break from the more glossy look of post 90's DB art.

Re: Vic Mignogna

The problem here is that the right is better at marketing than the left is. They insert themselves into corners of the internet ripe with young minds, like gaming and 4chan and then hide their bigotry in 'irony' and 'sarcasm'. Snip I think you're giving far right recruiting way too much credit, and...

Re: Vic Mignogna

It's too late/not a good idea for me to attempt socializing in the "real world" outside of school/work. Anyway if you recall the "hipster" movement from the early 2010's, you would remember that it was heavily mocked; especially in online nerd/geek circles. It was basically the forerunner to the "so...

Re: Vic Mignogna

This is just hilarious to me. Wow. I don't get men. Snip The problem most people have with the term "toxic masculinity" is that a distinction between it and normal masculinity is very rarely drawn. It's quite common to see posts online mocking male orientated pastimes or interests, or even traditio...

Re: Petition to use SS, not SSJ, as an abbreviation for Super Saiyan

As someone from the that weird generation of fans that's in-between the original dub of Z and the Nicktoons generation I absolutely refuse not to use SSJ. Due to being in the fandom when it was still mostly fans from the late 90's/early 2000's I've been using that abbreviation before I even knew abo...

Re: Are Power Scalers a cause or symptom of toxicity in the fandom?

To be honest; over the years I've actually become more empathetic to "power scalers."

The people who dislike them seem to be so weird about it, and demonise fans who are more or less just having fun.
