Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Sorry for not logging on these past few days, we’ve moved house and it‘s been pretty hectic. But hooray for new bedroom at least, twice as big as my old one so definitely a plus.

Episode 8: Kame Sennin’s Kamehameha

Voice Acting: Really liking Kame Sennin’s voice, it’s got all the old guy ...

Innagadadavida wrote:How much of Z Kai did you watch? Are you recognizing any of the characters?
I watched the first 4 episodes and 3 other ones whose numbers I’m not sure of.

I recognize Chi-Chi and Kame-Sennin as well as Goku and Bulma and that’s about it.

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Episode 7: Gyuumao of Mount FryPan

Voice Acting: Some stellar performances all around; I’m glad that with the revelation that Gyuumao isn’t all bad they didn’t make him have a welcoming voice, instead he keeps intact this rough voice which makes him feel reminiscent of Hagrid. Chi-Chi’s voice is ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Episode 4: The Kidnapping Demon, Oolong.

Voice Acting: Naoki Tatsuta is a mixed Oolong for me, there are times when I like his voice for the character and there are times when I don’t, I do think the voice suit’s the character but it doesn’t mean I like it. Masako was the highlight voice acting ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

In episode 3 a voice says something along the lines of "This is not Penguin Village". Could someone shed some light on that as I'm not sure what it meant.
Others already explained what Penguin Village is. But it's worth noting that the little robot character that says the line is one of Toriyama's ...

Sounds cool, looking forward to it. Do you think I'll need to watch/read Dr Slump first though?

Just a question:

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Sorry for not logging on these past 2 days, I’ve had a pretty hectic end of the week.

Episode 3: Kame-sennin’s Kinto-Un.

Voice Acting: Great performances all around, Masako really brings out the energetic and cheerful side of our intrepid hero whilst Shigeru worked wonders as Pilaf in this ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Could someone please tell me what a pichi-pichi girl is? I’m assuming it’s a hot girl but not too sure.

"Pichi-pichi" means energetic, so in this context, it's more along the lines of a "young and fun" girl. It's left untranslated in the subtitles due to a joke where Goku mispronounces it "bitchy ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Episode 2: What the…? No Balls!

Voice Acting: Superb voice acting again, Nozawa and Tsuru continue to impress, the 2 have already struck up a great rapport and the voice actors really bring out that dysfunctional chemistry. Shigeru Chiba does a great job in the role of Pilaf, one minute he’s all ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Episode 1: Bulma and Son Goku

Voice Acting: The success of this episode can be summed up in 2 words: Masako Nozawa. Not to say that the rest of the cast were bad, hell no, Hiromi Tsuru gives a stellar performance as Bulma, Shigeru Chiba is a treat to listen to as Pilaf and Joji Yanami is ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Dragon Ball Season 1 came today (punches air, does celebration). I’ll be watching it later as I have to get some dam homework out of the way but definitely looking forward to it. The only negative so far would be the packaging, it’s well a bit crap, but packaging shmackaging, what counts is the show ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Speaking of price I was looking at how much the Dragon Boxes (the sets recommended to me) would cost and I don’t know if I’ll be getting them for a while yet. I’m sure they’ll be worth it but I’m not prepared to spend about £83 ($117) for one. I’d much rather pay the used price of about £40 ($61 ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

I would suggest not hanging out around here if you're going to watch Dragon Ball. Spoilers are common knowledge here and are treated as such. Come back when you're done!!! Not that we wouldn't want to talk to you, its just that we wouldn't want to inadvertently spoil any part of the story ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Sorry for abruptly logging out last night, but I went to order Dragon Ball Season 1 so I think that’s a good enough reason. I guess it’s a rash decision but it’s also a good one :D

I appreciate the effort that went into the timeline even though I don’t particularly want to read it, I’d rather ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Yep, the five "blue bricks" are the most recent release of the first TV series from FUNimation (the franchise's North American distributor). Lots of episodes at a cheap price.

It's an incredibly convoluted history when it comes to DVD releases of the series. In terms of stuff for the English ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

I'd personally always go in chronological order with the series, you'll get better acquainted with the characters, understand the story progression, and save some surprises for later.

I’ll definitely have to look into that then, I’ll have a quick search on Google and see what I can find ...

Re: New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

The "connections" between characters would'nt seem so strange if you saw the previous series Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Z is actually the sequel series. Dragon Ball is more focused on comedic adventure, while Dragon Ball Z takes a more serious action and fighting tone. You may want to look into ...

New to Dragon Ball, needing some help please.

Hello everyone this is my first time posting on a forum, I’ve never really had the motivation to register for one until now.

Just this past Tuesday I watched my first episode or rather episodes of Dragon Ball Z.

I’ve never really had much experience with anime, to me they’re just cartoons that ...
