Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I'd like to take this moment to pat myself on the back for having predicted the exact order of events - Goku gives it a go with Omen but loses- Vegeta arrives and has his moment - Goku's gets his second turn this time with mastered UI. Riveting, I know Concerning the cliffhanger - who else thinks th...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

You can not like the reaction, but the fact is that they happened and Toriyama directly wrote it. So this is less about how Goku constantly reacts and more personal opinion on how you think Goku should react. The fact is, Goku is an uncaring adrenaline junkie most of the time. He has moments of car...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Knew someone was going to mention Upa’s dad. And no, doesn’t work. Goku was ma d sure, but not overall emotional. He also wanted to bring Bora back for Upa’s sake along with the fact Bora was indirectly killed because of him. Also, Merus died on his terms compared to Bora’s death where he was impal...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Again, it's not about Merus, it's about Goku. Even if 'we' didn't get to develop any attachment to Merus, knowing Goku's character is enough to at least understand where this reaction is coming from. Something like this would push him over the edge under the right circumstances. The emotional build...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I think you're missing my boarder point. If Goku was constantly more emotional in the Super manga, then fine. He wasn't. If anything, he's less emotional than the original manga, yet only became more emotional than usual when Toyo's personally made OC dies. Which is why the scene doesn't work for m...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Except the Buu one was hardly the only example and most of them are examples from Toriyama's original manga, who should know Goku better than any of us. And this is the portrayal that is the most constant to Goku's character. He only really gets upset when people he knows for a very long time gets ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Because Goku hate bullies who used their power to terrorized people weaker than them. Same reason he was mad at Vegeta killing the Ginyu Force despite them nearly killing his son. Thing is, if you look at Goku's history of getting pissed. As I pointed out in another post, Goku didn't get this angry...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

This will sound weird, but for most part Goku always seemed to me like everyone is same to him, be they his own family, or friends, or enemies, like he doesn't really have anyone who is actually important to him, or whom he really despise. That is somewhat in line with how Toriyama claims his mind ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

That's the problem. We don't see enough of Goku and Merus bonding to believe that Goku should be that emotional about him dying. It isn't like Goku and 17 despite only knowing each other for less than two days building a bond over the course of the TOP so when Goku thought 17 died it felt genuine. ...

Re: Vegeta spents most of the time being a douchebag in the orginal manga, does a 180 and never suffers for his crimes

No, he really doesn't. However, and I feel like I've bringing this up again and again lately, DB never bothers itself with these sort of moral conundrums. Whenever I read an interview of Toriyama's and he says something like" the DB main cast are mostly bad people than seem like good people" I think...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Okay, I'm going to be honest here. The emotional beat ...kinda worked for me. I was not invested in Meerus at all, but his send off was, IMO, pretty well handled. And Goku's reaction is appropriate. I've missed seeing him get emotional so I'm a little stumped when I see people complain that this is...

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?

The same goes for the manga, whenever Toyotaro gets criticized, you're slapped with "Toriyama approved, it's Toriyama's story, the Dragon Ball room supervised, etc." so you shouldn't criticize, cuz the higher ups think it's ok, so it is ok. I think the "Toriyama approved" reply is mostly brought up...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

So, I just read the chapter. I'd already seen the spoilers so I knew what to expect. The chapter was actually pretty good IMO. This is the sort of team up I've been wanting to see more of, even if ends up in disaster as usual. I've felt like the Piccolo/Goku/Gohan combination there was neat. Also, I...

Re: Possibility of Piccolo becoming relevant again (pfffffttt)...

I'm not so sure about that. I just checked the manga's chapter where he demands to know how Piccolo got so strong and his reaction to the answer is just of disbelief, no comment about ancient times or anything about Kami's background. Sounds more like something that dub everybody always complains a...

Re: Possibility of Piccolo becoming relevant again (pfffffttt)...

Its a bit surprising Vegeta even knew about the Nail fusion. Vegeta was preoccupied with fighting Freeza at the time, and its not like they speak at all. And yeah, perhaps Vegeta didn't know Kami and Piccolo were once one of the same when he said those lines in the recent manga chapter. Actually he...

Re: Possibility of Piccolo becoming relevant again (pfffffttt)...

I get splitting Piccolo and Nail because they are different people, but could Piccolo and Kami be split again by Vegeta? he claimed that he could, but I believe not. To be fair, they are the same person, the weird thing was for them to be apart. But since they became one again, to think Vegeta can ...
