Re: Anyone see the BLT dub during its initial broadcast?
I did watch it during its original broadcast. Came on Sundays on then WB station. First happened to come across "Curse of the Blood Rubies" when changing channels and missed the beginning, but then started watching the show proper. Didn't know what was different with "Blood Rubies&quo...

Re: Anyone see the BLT dub during its initial broadcast?
Idk if anyone remembers, but there were any eyecatches during the original syndicated Broadcast of the BLT Dub? If I recall, it was just a brief thing of Goku on Nimbus with the words, "We'll be right back" coming on screen and the title with the words "Dragon Ball" being said w...

Has Funimation put out anything in 4K? And I'm not just talking what ifs for DB, but sister series?

Re: What does the Japanese fandom think of the West’s version of Dragon Ball?
Well, also remember unlike Westerners with anime, there is no dub/sub debate in Japan regarding Western cartoons. So that could be a factor in things.

Re: What does the Japanese fandom think of the West’s version of Dragon Ball?
While I'm guessing it's before kei17's generation, I'm now wondering what some guys in Japan would have reacted to "Battle of the Planets" which did more changes that what DB did stateside. Picturing someone wondering where the robot came from and what happened to Jinpei.

Re: What does the Japanese fandom think of the West’s version of Dragon Ball?
With the title, I think it's kinda how some Americans think regarding the Japanese versions of Transformers. A curiosity, but not caring about changes so much. Maybe a wonder about the Beast Wars anime series, but not anger over the gag dub of Beast Wars. Some don't care about calling Optimus "...

Sure, on the basis of “We’re a brand new company and we’re not entirely sure how well this Dragon Ball Z show is going to perform with Americans so lets create a brand new score composed by the guy who did Mighty Morphin Power Rangers that conforms to what focus groups told us about kids only watch...

Could a dub version of "Cha-La Head Cha-La" work?
As the title says, do you guys think an English version of "Cha-La Head Cha-La" have worked for the North American dub. Can figure besides money reason on why it was replaced back in 1996, as its length, and not being actiony enough contributed to that. (For young guys, back then action ca...

Convention Crossovers with DB
While we know crossovers with other franchises might not be as easy to happen with anime and whatnot, would you guys say seeing the actors at a comic or anime convention interacting with other actors in character would be cool to see? For example, while folks long talked about Goku/Superman meetings...

Re: Japanese vs English names
It’s not though, there’s no ‘bomb’ in Genki Dama, if anything it’d be Spirit Sphere, but I went with Genki Dama or Genki Sphere based on the fact it’s not just spirit energy but Genki. Dama can refer to any kind of rounded object. In this case, a bomb. The attack functions as an explosive anyhow. &...

Re: Japanese vs English names
It kind of depends with how was introduced or how translated. For example I read much of the manga for DB before seeing the anime and thus use Sargent-Major Purple rather than "Ninja Murasaki". I also use Korin rather than "Karin" as I know who I'm speaking of and to avoid confus...

Like guy above said with things in Japan, and can't believe I looked at this again, but here's an example of 4Kids not doing well and Funimation giving excellence.DragonBallFoodie wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 5:02 pm I don't know why but this strikes me as ironic, given that One Piece has reached 1000 episodes.

Re: Why did 4Kids One Piece FAIL while Funimation's Dragon Ball succeeded?
The Funi dub didn't last all that long on TV either, did it? 4 seasons from Fall 1999-Spring 2003. I'd call that lasting a bit. I think Adamant was referring to the Funi dub of One Piece not Dragon Ball Z And the Funi dub of DBZ lasted six seasons from Fall 1996 to Spring 2003. I don’t know why fan...

Re: Why did 4Kids One Piece FAIL while Funimation's Dragon Ball succeeded?
WOW at SONIC X. These are actually pretty healthy ratings for the twilight of Saturday Mornings. Sonic X was more popular in America than it was in Japan. Know older folks couldn't decide whether it had a bad dub or was just a bad show altogether, (apparently Chris Thorndyke was just as annoying in...

Might be a weird thing like how Powerpuff Girls Z's dub never aired there, despite being recorded there.

Re: Opinion of Lunch
Haven't played or looked at scenes from Kakarot, but since Meredith McCoy doesn't do as much voice work like way back, could see her being done by someone else. Lunch does have her fans as I've seen quite a few ladies cosplaying her over the past decade.

Garry Chalk, who played King Gurumes in the BLT dub of the first Dragon Ball movie, has also been in a surprising number of big Hollywood productions. Forgot that was him. But he's a character actor known for a lot of thing, including being in the Sonic movie as well as sonic underground and advent...

I'll agree with Jason Takes Manhattan being wthe weakest entry. Love the song at the end though. I've known about this for a while, it's pretty cool. Someone recently pointed out to me that Ted Cole (Yamcha in the Ocean dub) was a background character in Scary Movie . Wow! That's even more mindblow...

Met her a long time ago:

Unfortunately didn't see her announced as a guest at the time so didn't have her sign my DBZ dvds, and just a quickly purchased Zatch Bell dvd, in which her character didn't appear, but didn't tell her that.
