Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements

Despite my shit talking of Super, which I will gleefully do whenever I get the chance, I am sorta interested in the Moro arc. If only because it’s never been animated before, and they could, in theory, do some cool shit.

The problem with the Super remaster is that they’re limited to what’s ...

Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements

The fact that we're at least getting Moro down the line softens the blow of the Super remake/remaster announcement. Good strategy on their part to lead with the more exciting announcement first. I can live with Super being remade to lead up to the new content, but I still ideally wish they would ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Unpopular non-Dragon Ball opinion: the Yuu Yuu Hakusho dub is insufferable. The dialogue and acting tries to make the characters snappy Hollywood-style characters and just winds being really cringey and fucks up characters' personalities. It a common thing with FUNimation dubs—Dragon Ball or not ...

Re: Super Saiyan 2 Appreciation Thread

I didn't know where else to ask this. But I thought it would be good to ask here. Did Gotenks ever go super saiyan 2? It seemed to me that he went straight to stage 3 from the first super saiyan form. When he went super saiyan 3 and fought Super Buu.

I've watched Yugioh in Japanese. It is a different experience. You can appreciate it more when there isn't music going on all the time like in the dub.

Re: Dragon Ball references in other media

I'm not a fan of the 100 Girlfriends Who Really Love You anime series. But the references/homages to Dragon Ball it has are good stuff.

The episode where the characters are playing baseball and the characters go super saiyan was airing around the same time Daima airing.

Re: Vegeta calling Goku the number 1

I can't believe people are applying powerscaling logic to a character moment. Like, yeah, Ultimate Gohan and SS3 Gotenks were probably stronger than Goku (and I say "probably" because I don't want to get in a numbers battle), but that doesn't really matter because Vegeta, in this moment, is ...

Aya Hisakawa or Mai Nakahara? Hisakawa is the adult version, and Nakahara is the mini version.

I like both of them. I've watched and listened to both of them for years.

Re: Best and worst recasts

Personally thinking Yuichi Nakamura would have been a better choice than Hikaru Midorikawa to succeed Hirotaka Suzuoki as Tenshinhan.

I do like Hikaru Midorikawa. But I agree that he isn't the best replacement for the person who originally did Tien.

Yuichi Nakamura might get a shot with the ...

Re: How likely is it that Vegeta at least knew his mother?

There isn't anything in the series to show or talk about Vegeta's mother. Goku didn't know about his mother either. Such things were likely excluded to keep things convenient.

I'm not sure if this is a reference/homage to DBZ. But I think it is.

Re: Do you think you will always enjoy Dragon Ball?

I've heard a few people talk about "retiring" from the fandom, and wanted to get peoples thoughts on this, or the alternative, which is always having some level of investment in this franchise.

For me personally, Dragon Ball has been a part of my life for over 25 years, and I always come back to ...

That makes sense. I notice they even censored 17’s gun pointed at the elderly man into his fist even though they kept Gero squeezing that one guy’s head off.

One thing I liked about the manga more is the gore.

In the anime the guy in the car who Android 20 choked didn't have his head explode ...

There was a moment during Goku vs Frieza were Piccolo smiled and expressed a desire to fight Goku again some day. I think he liked the challenge of competing with him. It might be filler, but there's a scene with the 2 of them sparring in preparation for the Androids, and both of them seem to be ...

The only notable thing about Olibu was that he was an Earthling, but there's nothing really special about that unless he's significantly stronger than characters like Tenshinhan, Krillin, Chaotzu, and as you say Yamcha. Clearly he's not.

He went toe-to-toe with Pikkon. Until Pikkon prevailed ...

Re: Official confirmation Toriyama wanted to end Dragonball at the Cell Saga

Gotta love capitalism. It always made the most sense to me that he wanted to (read "wanted to," not "intended to" or "did") end things at Saiyans or Namek. Because after that, the story started to deteriorate. Of course, there will be people here that will disagree when exactly the story started ...

If you talk to me about Super or Daima, I can point you out to another million shows that are doing exactly the same thing they are doing, and most of the time are doing it better. Dragon Ball has become incredibly generic and boring, it should just die gracefully while it still has the chance ...
