Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

I tried slamming in a shot from Episode 86: The Last Wish into a program called "Topaz Gigapixel." The point of the program is to artificially enhance the detail in any photograph (or in this case, a screenshot) with "machine learning." In my opinion, it doesn't look too bad for being done through a...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

According to one of Geekdom's sources, the original 3 anime are planned to get this same remaster and start releasing next year on Blu-Ray in Japan. https://youtu.be/hTfqTtKYLjo?t=280 "One person who is a credible source, ya'll should know I'm legit by know" I dunno dude, that doesn't sound very re...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I’m pretty sure edited Kai was done in HD. I’m not 100% sure about the NickToons broadcast, but the CW broadcast, which was based on the Nick one with further edits done to it, was in HD. I know this from memory, and from YouTube clips. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxCNb7ni2ra7lT8cWm1_8-V...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

There's probably a reason for the Japanese screenings this time around when they didn't do them for Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. Lately, FUNimation has been giving movie-goers the option of either watching their screenings in their English-dubbed or original language formats; they've done so ...

"Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

https://i.imgur.com/Qy74Fxt.png https://i.imgur.com/1ZBJwzW.png I randomly stumbled upon these listings while browsing through the "Coming Soon" section of my local theater's website; some sites have more information than others, so I've compiled everything from Paragon, AMC, Marcus, etc. DRAGON BA...

Re: Dragon Box Footage used on DBZ Single?

Interesting stuff! Is this the case for the VHS release too? The release of Volume #49 (Guardian's Return) on VHS was 11/6/2001; over two years prior to the release of its DVD equivalent, which was released on 3/23/2004. The Dragon Boxes were not released in Japan until 2003, and as such, the usual...

Dragon Box Footage used on DBZ Single?

I was re-watching the Cell Games Saga on my North American DVD singles and noticed that the first episode included on Volume #49 (Guardian's Return) has vastly superior video quality compared to the latter episodes on the disc. To me, it looked more akin to TOEI's Dragon Box masters as opposed to FU...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Cooler DVD Box Set

I remember seeing the edited Cooler movies for sale online years ago and being frustrated that the Uncut versions had a higher price. I'm assuming the version on those DVDs is the same version that aired on Toonami US years ago. Movies 4-6 did receive both edited and unedited boxsets. You can tell ...

They are not 5.1. Only the special, "A Hero's Legacy" has 5.1 Surround as an option for the English audio track.

Re: Back to the level sets again

Episodes 35 through 39 on the PlayStation Video service still use the Level Set footage. Just be sure you purchase the episodes in HD and are able view them on a PlayStation Video compatible device that allows for HD download/streaming. There is no telling when they will update these to use the new ...

Offering $200 for that is ridiculous. You can't even get a used set of either series for so little, let alone a complete set of Dragon Boxes in their original cardboard shipping containers.

Re: English dub airings of Dragon Ball Franchise

The three episode version of Tree of Might hasn't released. Only the feature-length version that was broadcast on Toonami and YTV was included on the "Rock the Dragon Edition" DVD Collector's Set. When Tree of Might aired in syndication, it was split into three episodes which played between episodes...

Re: Countries that start with DBZ really missed a lot

Even if you don't count Harmony Gold's English dub as the start of Dragon Ball in the United States, you would still have the 1995 FUNimation/BLT Productions dub to consider. Dragon Ball was in syndication almost a year before Dragon Ball Z started airing, so technically the United States didn't "st...

It used to be that the only posts you couldn't edit were posts in locked threads. As of a few weeks ago, it seems that editing posts is now no longer doable after a certain amount of time has passed (with, as Ajay noted, the exception of your first post in a thread, assuming you created the thread)...

Re: DBZ First Season free at Microsoft Store

I just want to point out that since the beginning of this sale, FUNimation has begun to roll out their new HD transfers found on the Season Set Blu-rays on all of their digital distribution platforms. Both XBOX Video and Playstation Video were unique in that the last five episodes of Season 1 used t...

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball clip.

Your post comes off to me as uninformed. First off, if you were familiar at all with the dub that you're criticizing than you perhaps would've realized that the audio is pitch-shifted down one semitone in order to get around YouTube's automatic Content ID system, and thus affects the quality of the ...

Re: The humble beginnings of the Original Funimation Cast.

Attack on Titan was done wonderfully (except Chris Sabat's part, which I immediately picked up by hearing it) and Black Lagoon is dubbed very well. Black Lagoon was actually dubbed by Ocean Studios, not FUNimation, which explains why the acting quality is much better than even FUNimation's most rec...

Then that just leaves AB (do they still hold licence though?) or for them to be tacked onto a video game :eh:
AB Groupe still holds the license to the series in most European Countries. They only outsourced the manufacturing of the new Blu-rays to KAZE.
