Well, Super Saiyan 4 appearing was patent given the obvious GT parallels from the start, but this episode and how said form came about felt more like the trashy, throw away Dragonball Heroes minisodes than the former, and I'm actually quite disappointed about that.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 15 - Official Discussion Thread
When was the last time that Supreme Kai said or did anything? Maybe I am forgetting something minor but I feel like it has been 3 or 4 episodes.
I really hope there is some big pay off in the last few episodes to warrant all of the exposition about his past and the glinds.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 4 - Official Discussion Thread
This is such a meta series.
And I say that distinctly in a franchise that does all sorts of meta , most of it without artistic integrity and making for an abysmally unsatisfactory product (e.g. Dragonball Heroes).
I just wish we had more insight from Toriyama about his thought process. Maybe more ...

Am I the only person who feels like this episode has basically thrust Goku into a Dragon Quest game?
There are a few really interesting things going on from a genre point of view, which I think I will need a few more episodes to get a better handle of.

I thought it was great.
It looked fantastic - as a Dragonball series in 2024 should. Thinking back to the early episodes of Super, this is lightyears ahead. This has been planned - in terms of writing, storyboarding, animation... etc. That is so beautiful to see, and hopefully will be befitting ...

I've spent all day with my little boy watching Dragonball Z.
Dragonball has been such a formative part of my life that even when I've not been actively engaging with the franchise it has, in a way, always been with me.

It's my first time back out of the abyss for a few years, but hearing about this really got to me.

There seems to be some sorta hypocrisy here, as they fired Vic Mignogna without a solid proof, yet jokes that might seem offensive to some is considered ok...

I think that it's quite naive to assume that fraternity humour doesn't exist behind closed-doors, and that sometimes, people say and satirise certain things that are inherently inappropriate for a public airing, but in doing so are aware that their behaviour is not aimed at anyone, nor designed to ...

Who hates Goku?
Nobody. Well, so long as he is given time to change their heart (little by little).
That's how the Shonen hero trope works, right? His carefree, earnest nature wins over everyone in the end.
A lot of people are saying Freeza - but let's just wait and see how this current arc of ...

I know that Freeza did mental-training in Hell and all, but I still think Hit is much stronger than him. I mean, can you imagine Freeza managing to challenge Jiren as Hit did? I'm not so sure.Bullza wrote: 7. Golden Frieza

Here goes:
1) Jiren - This one's easy - he's the current 'wall' to surpass.
2) Ultra Instinct 'The Omen' Goku - He's the only one who has given Jiren any real hassle so far.
3) Kefla - Even Broli Kale gave Super Saiyan Blue Goku a good beating, and this is the only fighter apart from Jiren to ...

Is it really shocking that a man as carefree and forgetful as Toriyama could end up in a bind like this?

Or a re-contextualised (Barry Watson era Funimation preferred 're-versioned', I believe) product for a new market.
Frankly, I think that's giving FUNimation's product far too much credit. Essentially, you're entrusting borderline amateur Americans with no real context for the series (as they've ...

When you strip out part of that and plop in an entirely different culture's musical aesthetic from after its creation, you wind up with a disjointed product out of time with no identity of its own.

No more Blue Popo, please.
I think that level of censorship is acceptable for pre-watershed broadcast.
Whether intended or not, the likeness may carry an offensive racial connotation when viewed by Western audiences.
We know that Popo is a genie, the casual everyman probably doesn't.

Which was lovely, but sort of hard to understand given that it's the only episode they've tweaked in two whole boxes - and it was by no means the worst to begin with.
