Re: State of the Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z Broadcast Audio?

Honestly it’s great that it’s out there. There’s even a recent release (that I believe a member of this forum was involved with) that times the tracks for the R2J Dragon Box Z and provides both an audio and video sync. It’s sad that fans have to go the extra mile but I’ve got my remuxed Dbox episode...

Re: Regarding the releases of the original "Dragon Ball" TV adaptation - particularly the "Dragon Box"?

The Dragon Ball Dragon Box release is similar, if slightly inferior to the Dragon Box Z release. The image quality as you would expect due to the age of the masters involved is slightly worse and there are some pretty bad frame alignment issues in some episodes (during the RR arc). Overall it is muc...

Fuck right off with this “you need to be civil about the way you talk about your abuser”

I thought we dispensed with this idiocy six months ago but apparently some people are slow learners.

And yes, that kind of sheer ignorance and total lack of intellectual curiosity regarding basic facts and history about the world is most certainly indeed how you end up with some of the astonishingly gutter-level viewpoints and complete absence of critical thinking, social consciousness, or ethical...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Not talking about in real life. I said Nafomi is better than white slavers from 200 years ago and that the act of owning slaves didn't make one evil. Just like not everyone in word that commits a crime is a bad person. God some people here are just irreparably stupid. What kind of stunted vitamin d...

Wait what?

So your question is that does admitting to watching Dragon Ball Super have the same social stigma as admitting to watching pornography as a minor?

I'd like to congratulate you on your novel premise, it's a new one for sure.

It's a commercial.

I think we should be thankful for the few tiny snippets of decent animation that are buried in there with all of the trash.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It's going to unfair regardless because TOEI has better physical masters then FUNimation ever will (hence their DNRing comes off cleaner because their's has no baked-in grain from multi-generational scanning. However, to be fair, thats why I included TOEI's 35mm master of the movie because they are...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Gotta say I feel the same. I hear a lot that Dragon Boxes look terrible on a 50+" TV, but Christ I'd pull my hair out looking at this version of the show. They don't - at least the original R2 releases look fantastic on my 55" 4K Sony Bravia. I don't doubt the lower bit-rates on the R1s cause them ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

This guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ9rorYlSFY&feature=share shows a comparison to his DBox rip and makes the bold claim that this set is much better. Says he has a eye for video but can’t see the DNR or fake grain..interesting...he shows it at the beginning and end. Yeah I just saw this. The...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Am I the only one who's almost never gotten these black bars people speak of? My blue bricks fill the screen just like all the other DB DVDs. That's because you're stretching the 4:3 image to 16:9 destroying the integrity of the image. There will be an option in your television settings to set aspe...

Re: Avatars galore, DragonBall and more!

Hope no one minds but I stole a few of the fan art pics in the other topic and made some avatars of them. Some of them just really stuck out to me. The last Broli one just seemed so scrunched at 100x100 so the other one should still work as an avatar. https://i.imgur.com/8yVvcv0.png I know I'm a bi...

I've never watched Boo Kai.

I think I watched a few episodes when it was airing but it was so ugly and the score was so terrible that I just gave up on it.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members' Favorite Series (2019 Edition)

1. Dragon Ball Z - I love the kikuchi score, I love the performances, I can live with the often abysmal pacing. 2. Dragon Ball - I used to prefer this to Z, but after a re-watch I miss the format and tone of Z, a great deal of which is from Kikuchi's score which doesn't come into its own until Z if ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Yeah they really are - aside from the fact the singles are interlaced and have a low bitrate they compare very favourably to the Japanese Dragon Box GT release. The green bricks look pretty lousy by comparison. I mean personally I'd take bluriness over interlace combing ANY day. There's some during...

Re: Why does the Garlic Jr. filler arc exist?

I'm slowly working my way through the series and I'm actually a few episodes into the Garlic Jr. arc. It's odd that they brought Garlic Jr. back of all people but what is even stranger is that they tried to tie it into the Demon clan stuff with Piccolo and a Demon planet and it all feels so weirdly ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I think the Dragon Ball Blue Bricks are fine (awful colour grading though) while the GT ones are actually REALLY good, managing to strike a nice balance between grain removal and keeping things sharp and detailed. Of course the main difference is that Funimation got the Dragon Box scans for that on...
