Re: How to properly watch GT ?
If I recall, episode 15 was definitely the point when Pan and Gill/Giru truly seemed to become close. Her crying over his supposed betrayal would’ve definitely been less impactful without that. But how were their interactions any different from before and after? Honestly, I think the proximity to t...

If you could get through the first 15 or so episodes, and still want to watch more, you might as well finish the rest of the show.

Re: What are people’s thoughts on how increasingly “normal” the world of Dragon Ball became?
As for the humans. It's one of those things which Toriyama understood perfectly. It's human nature to forget. Even he himself claims so. So it's only natural for Tenkaichi Budoukai audiences to forget existence of such powerful fighters from the past like frm 21st, 22nd & 23rd TB Piccolo litera...

Re: The Dragonball Misinformation Thread.
I always assumed the Ice Dragon was made from the wish to revive Frieza's victims, and Syn Shenron from the one to make people forget Buu. I feel like the Ice Dragon having that connection to Frieza works, because both had that similar moment when they beg Goku for mercy, only to turn on him. Plus ...

It’s been a while since I’ve seen the dub, but I can’t recall it ever stating what wish he was born from either.Robo4900 wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 8:25 amSkimming through various scenes, I can't find a mention of it either, so it may just be a dub error.WittyUsername wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 8:23 am I don’t think the ice dragon ever said what wish he was born from in the show.

Re: The Dragonball Misinformation Thread.
GT taking place 10 years after EoZ instead of 5 like it actually is. I mean... this wasn’t clear from the show itself. I suspect it was always supposed to be five years, and this jibes well with some of the old concept art of Pan being kinda short; about as tall as Goku. And in the first episode th...

Re: How much do you think Gine impacted the Story ?
I would definitely side with the opinion that the changes made to Goku’s backstory were completely unnecessary. It’s one thing to establish that Saiyans aren’t just one dimensional savages, but changing the entire reason for why Goku was sent to Earth is just lame, especially when the original reaso...

I remembered hearing back in the day that AF was an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke, but at this point, I really have no idea what to make of anything regarding that myth.

Re: The Dragonball Misinformation Thread.
Reading minds was never a part of the original Japanese version, so this is misinformation. Was there a reason at all in the Japanese version for why they attacked the planet ? It's bad enough to change plot point, but adding new ones is just overkill. The original version had Toma mention that the...

Re: The Dragonball Misinformation Thread.
Continuing on from the myth that Toriyama intended to end the series after Freeza, the myth that he was going to end the series after Cell has also been fairly prominent, as is this notion that he was forced to bring back Goku because of fan outrage.

Re: Do you want to see Goku-lite/Vegeta-lite sagas in the future?
Super did have that one filler story that involved Gohan and that Barry Khan guy. Besides that, much of the Future Trunks saga did revolve around, well, Future Trunks.

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings
I’d imagine that part of the reason “Hakai” was left untranslated was partly because it had already caught on as a bit of a meme with fans. Also, maybe someone just thought it sounded badass and memorable. I would’ve just had them say “begone” or something.

What are people’s thoughts on how increasingly “normal” the world of Dragon Ball became?
By “normal”, I mean that the Earth that Dragon Ball takes place in seemed to become less bizarre and fantastical over time, particularly by the Cell arc. At the beginning of the story, it was clear that the Earth in which Dragon Ball takes place in is pretty far removed from reality, as shown by the...

Re: What would Toei have done with GT if it had gone on longer?
Wasn’t the Great Saiyaman #2 a Toei creation? From what we’ve seen of Videl in Super, it certainly seems like the implication is that she put her days of crime fighting behind her, and is more or less a full time mother.

Re: What would Toei have done with GT if it had gone on longer?
If there was any member of the team that didn’t need to be there, it was the Muten Roshi. He easily could’ve been replaced with Yamcha, but I suppose that RF already set the precedent for Yamcha getting shafted in favor of Roshi, despite the fact that Roshi stopped fighting after Piccolo Damiao.

Re: What would Toei have done with GT if it had gone on longer?
The only notable female characters in DBS I can think of that had stories independent of any male characters were Caulifla and Kale, and all things considered, they weren’t that significant. Ribrien and her crew had scenes and were independent of male characters. Sure, but they were basically just ...

If Goku were given a southern drawl, wouldn’t that mean that Grandpa Gohan would have to have one as well?
