These so god damn much. There are great unreleased soundtracks from around the Red ribbon saga which need to be released.

Re: Do the DBZ Season Set Blu-rays use the original broadcast audio?

I'm not finding any of the old comparison shots at a glance either. So do we think Toei assigned the movie transfers to different people across the two versions? You would think it would be easier for them to be consistent, it would be a shame if the best version really was stream only, if only for...

Re: Do the DBZ Season Set Blu-rays use the original broadcast audio?

You think so? I know the transfer quality changed between movies but I was kind of holding for the new Toei versions! Yeah I'm content with FUNi's but I prefer the look of Toei's versions especially the streaming ones. Although I haven't seen too many comparison shots to say for sure (I belie...

Re: Do the DBZ Season Set Blu-rays use the original broadcast audio?

Didn't Toei wipe their masters after the show ended? I feel like I read this somewhere, that's got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Unless they didn't think the show would ever come to VHS/DVD later on or become popular outside of Japan. I also heard something about Optical audio on the f...

Re: Do the DBZ Season Set Blu-rays use the original broadcast audio?

yeah, there's a slight remastering on them, it's not a very big difference and it still sounds far from great, but it does sound a bit better, in my opinion at least. Ajay has a pretty good and really informative video on the subject . Thanks for giving me an elaborate answer. Anyway, yeah I saw th...

Re: Toei's Dragon Ball Kai remaster

I really like the way it approaches the linework. It looks like a line and not like a smeared mess like most upscalers. I'm sure that various artifacts caused by grain or whatever can be ironed out.

Re: Original Dragon Ball anime to be released on Blu Ray in Spain

It will be funny if they end up upscaling the dragonbox masters with some AIscaling like gigapixel and end up looking better than funi's bluray.

Re: Toei's Dragon Ball Kai remaster

Looks like topaz ai gigapixel. Its a really good software but its a bit hit or miss with animated stuff, especially the darker ones. Also it only does single frames/photos so you'd have to deconstruct the episode run every frame through it and then reconstruct it again

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

The issue is that the dragonboxes dont really suffer from macro blocking, they are infact really well encoded. So at this point the only thing you're doing is adding an unwanted grain effect, which in lots of cases destroys detail (see clouds for example) That method would be helpfull if the dvds lo...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

I cant really say i like your method. First of all the biggest issue is those artifacts produced that make it look like a super low quality GIF. Second, you say there's no crushing but you're loosing quite some color information with that correction. To begin with the episode has a Maxed out green c...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

HxH1999 probably doesnt have the rights to get released into bluray, after madhouse did their adaptation. But yea just for Matsushima's episodes, i'd love to see a good bluray of that.

I always found it weird how runouni kenshin never got a bluray, besides the glorious ovas

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I'm pretty sure DBZ is the only anime that they actually have the film materials of. So it's really the only series they can fiddle with this way because they have the film reel instead of a digital file or a beta from the other distributor. DBZ is one of the few old popular anime that hasnt got a ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

The trick is though that when its in motion, it's much less annoying. It's similar to looking at something through window blinds: if you keep your head still, you see more of the blinds, but if you move your head up and down, you can concentrate on the scenery behind the window. Similar idea with g...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

You know when the image is upscaled/blown up to 1080p the grain is actually rather obnoxious and bothersome. And for context I am referencing the images of Goku/Nappa/Krillin above. The trick is though that when its in motion, it's much less annoying. It's similar to looking at something through wi...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

There's no way toei or funi are gonna sit and do scene by scene color correction, its way too much effort. Even the perfect level sets suffer from the classic funimation reddish hue.
