I might give the Monsterverse another shake. I've had my kaiju needs fulfilled by Shin Ultraman, Shin Gojira, and Gojira Minus One lately, but KotM and the VS films might be interesting.
If the form isn't complete then I'm curious how it's going to look in the next film lol.

Re: Godzilla Evolved was inspired by Goku
That's cool. I haven't followed the Monsterverse (the bits and pieces that I have seen have bored me death, and I'm currently writing this post from Kaiou-sama's planet), but it's neat to see a slight Kaiou-ken reference in a major film. I'm curious how the new form works? Judging by the trailer it ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I like blood and hyper violence, because animators tend to make it look cool. It's a nice flavor to have, and one that I wish wasn't quite for hampered due to the commercial interests of the relatively select few projects that are made. That being said, it's quite obvious that if we were going to ge...

In My Adventures With Superman, Mxy is redesigned to look a bit like a Kaioushin, and employs some Majin Buu-esque techniques, like splitting into multiple selves and firing off ki blasts.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Plenty of people go on-and-on about how much they love Dragon Ball on this forum all the time, the extended discussion typically just blooms out of discussing our criticisms because that's what leads to extended discussion. You can only say, "Wow, I sure do love [x]!" so many times and rep...

We needed four Broli movies because he's sexy.
I'm just glad we didn't get a fourth Broli film with fucking modern Yamamuro Tadayoshi designing him and correcting the animation.

That hair and those pants would be such a pain in the ass to animate.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 103 - Official Discussion Thread
I had the re-write this entire posts because I wrote it as if the guy was still alive. :| Anyhoo, I think that what the issue was with Toriyama's writing is that his use of his tools was still relatively immature. He only had one way of writing—especially after a while—and it often meant just repeat...

Re: Is Super on its way out?
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to make the next arc the beginning of a new series, simply because they wouldn't be able to call those arcs overseen by Toriyama. It'll be interesting to see how the production committee members handle stuff moving forward.

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
I wouldn't discount the Pokemon animated franchise. While the majority of the focus from casual fans is unfortunately only the Kantou stuff, it's still a major face of the franchise and associated with anime in general. The first film also did very well in theaters. Aaah, and now I'm missing the Sat...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 103 - Official Discussion Thread
It's a bit of a 'whatever' chapter, but I felt like the ending silent montage was done well and captured a good mood. Gokuu forgetting who Pan is is such a bad and pointless moment, it doesn't really do or say anything and isn't even funny. Hopefully everyone on Toyo-tarou's team gets to rest for a...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
Just thinking, with the Manga it's credited as Story by: Toriyama. If it continues past his creative input (not sure how far his artistic input is left in this run) will it still be credited as Story By, or once (if) Toyotaro takes over 100% will it just be credited to him? The credits will likely ...

Re: Writers - What Can/Can't They Do?
That original 1984-1995 comic is always going to be there, so as a viewer and writer myself, I always want to see other creators given the space and opportunities to make works that excite them to create. I think that an original creator should push those other creators to take their ideas further. ...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
It's going to feel odd without him around. However, the series will move on without him. Bandai and Shueisha still have plenty of stuff to milk the series with. Series like Kamen Rider as an example, was able to do new stuff without the original creator alive. Sorry for the late reply, but the exam...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
For the record, Takeda took over just as Perfect Cell appeared, so unless Kondou was pulling a Torishima by telling Toriyama what to do even after he had left Dragon Ball, then Gohan becoming the lead wouldn't have been his idea.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Toriyama's writing suffers most when he's trying too hard to be subversive. His ideas of subverting 'generic' ideas of right-and-wrong wind up becoming their own codified 'rule', so by trying to break the 'rules' of general writing and storytelling he's only further solidifying his story as followin...

Yes. Jako was the last comic that Toriyama drew himself, too.eledoremassis02 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:46 pm Didn't want to start a new thread but was the last time Goku showed up in a Toriyama-drawn manga Jaco?
