Because piccolo is a namekian and no one cares about them. Vegeta is a saiyan so of course he would naturally be more popular. Also piccolo is a weak nobody in dbs whereas vegeta is literally a God destroyer even if he still is second fiddle.

Cell is cool as a concept but lame as an actual character. Also who really cares that much about cell compared to freeza or any other villain?

People don't like change especially in this fandom so when things were being changed or retconned fans immediately started hating on dbs. I don't care that much as long as its entertaining but some people expect a super complex story in dragonball probably because of other anime influemces. But don'...

Surpassing limits with new transformations is what dragonball has always been about. Why are people only now just starting to realize/complain about this?
