It golden aura sorta felt like it was a Dragon Ball specific nod.

Re: Kirby Morrow, Third Canadian Voice of Goku, Passes Away
This really took me off guard. His voice, as others have mentioned already, was really recognisable. I remember him once saying in an interview for the Ocean Kai dub, that he was "too cool" to play the role of Gokuu, and it sort of hit me why his voice never totally sat right with me for t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
The page with Oob is pretty much the only time post-revival Dragon Ball has made me feel anything, I was legitimately thrilled to see that kind of reserved, yet impactful imagery in this series. Shame they had to go and take the wind out of its sails by explaining everything on the next page, but th...

Re: Favorite cover art
The Pioneer DVDs, while somewhat inconsistent, really felt like they had money/effort behind them. Reminds me of their title cards, where they always added the nice little CG effect somewhere to give each episode a bit of extra personality.

Re: Anyone else think BT2 had one of the worst story modes of any of these games?
The devs at Spike bit off more than they could chew. They simply weren't equipped to animated such a large amount of content, so they found a lazy solution: Stick models in their idle poses, and every now and then make them do something very minor in order to break up the monotony. When the devs at ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Since that SS2 thread just got bumped, and it's an appreciation thread, I felt it more appropriate to post this here: I don't like SS2. Well it's a bit more complicated than that, mainly I don't like the handling of it, and the consequences this handling had on the series moving forward. It was grea...

Re: Gotenks is by far the most annoying canon character of the entire franchise
I was indifferent to Gotenks as a teenager, bordering on slightly disliking him. These days the gag kind of lands for me, even if he's supposed to be thirsty for revenge (since Boo killed his parents after all), the arc as a whole is kind of like watching a train wreck at this point, so seeing somet...

Re: Who is your favourite character?
Muten Roshi's development from unassuming letcher, to mystical mentor, to the guiding hand for the next generation really nets him my #1 spot. Roshi vs Tenshinhan reads as the beating heart of Dragon Ball to me, and his journey was so neatly wrapped up in the Piccolo arc. He was one of the few chara...

Re: So, did DBZ Movie 14, and everything after scratched your DB itch?
Broly was a one off and that level of animation (which is already overpraised) isn't possible in a TV series. I'm not even talking about frames per scene animation, I'm talking not overly saturated colours, top tier character design (having the characters look good moving isn't just about more fram...

Re: So, did DBZ Movie 14, and everything after scratched your DB itch?
Weirdly I didn't think I had an itch until I watched Super Broly. It was almost a revelation, like "oh shit, I guess I don't hate this series after all". Since then I've been in a weird place of wanting more but knowing I won't likely be satisfied by it (due to Toei).

Not got too much to add here, besides the act of conflating being gay and being afraid of women is pretty yikes.

Re: Dragon Ball/Z/GT home releases moving forward
I am in the camp that the broadcast audio isn't make-or-break for me. Yeah, it would be nice, but it's just not that important to me. I doubt that Funimation would care enough to use it, but here's my question: would that forgive them? Would the fans value that over Funimation's treatment of the vi...

Dragon Ball/Z/GT home releases moving forward
I'm likely treading on thin ice here, so I'll say up front that I obviously don't want to start a discussion here of how to get your hands on any of the recently released broadcast audio, whether you should or shouldn't do this, or really any discussion about the broadcast audio in general. Please, ...

Re: Is it time to accept Faulconer OST did it better than the original?
It's no surprise at all that the Faulconer score ended up drastically more popular. This has to be bait. If not, you're aware nearly every single country has the Kikiuchi score, right? Only the US got it from mid-Freeza to Boo. Even other English speaking countries who got Faulconer only had it for...

https://www.kanzenshuu.com/guides/manga/spines/refreshed_spine.jpg?ffe5dc Dragon Ball is a story that borrows from ancient legends, science fantasy and martial arts in film. It ducks and weaves between these inspirations as the story goes on, it leans into the science fantasy more in certain arcs, ...

Re: What is your opinion about the artistic style of Dragon Ball Super?
I'm going to respond with a few points, then stop replying, because I see this getting old fast. Firstly, I feel like you've taken my viewpoint to an extreme and created a strawman out of it. My viewpoint (which I'll remind you, is mine, at no point did I even remotely imply you were in any way wron...

Re: What is your opinion about the artistic style of Dragon Ball Super?
That's not at all what being a visual medium means. It doesn't mean it's about having pretty pictures. It means you can convey the story using visuals. It's visual STORYTELLING, not VISUAL storytelling. A visual medium is communicating via visuals. Whether more meaning is found in the visuals or wh...

Re: What is your opinion about the artistic style of Dragon Ball Super?
As a fan of the series for over 20 years, Super is depressing to look at. Bland character designs and oversaturated colours combined with that lack of grit that comes with the digital age of anime, leads to one of the most visually painful anime experiences I forced myself through. That isn't even t...
