Re: Underrated dubs?

I feel the Saban dub of Seasons 1-2 doesn't get enough love these days from the wider fanbase. It's probably more overlooked than underrated. Many newer fans have never seen it, and in some cases don't even know it exists. Obviously the fact that it hasn't had a re-release since 2013 doesn't help (a...

Re: Do you like fusions?

I've always liked them. Gotenks is a fun character with some cool techniques and funny moments. Vegito and Gogeta are both in the running for most badass character in the franchise. Vegito gives Buuhan what may be the most humiliating beatdown of the series, which felt so satisfying after watching B...

Re: Is a Budokai Reboot possible ?

Maybe, but I hope not. I'd rather have something new, or a sequel to FighterZ which in my opinion is a much better fighting game. I'm hoping for a FighterZ 2 aswell, but I'd be ecstatic if they announced a new Budokai game, and there's no reason we can't get both. If you don't want it fair enough, ...

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball in Ireland, UK and France

If I didn't own the home releases I'd be all over this. Even if it's not free it's still pretty damn good for the amount of content you get. Paying a monthly fee for a few months while you binge 600+ episodes is a great deal. I'm a physical media guy who loves to collect the home releases, but many ...

Re: Skipped episodes

I remember when GT first aired in the UK, they accidentally skipped the episode were Baby first goes to earth. They skipped to the next episode were he was fighting Goten and I was confused. I'm sure they went back and aired it the day after though. Come to think of it I think the same thing happene...

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball in Ireland, UK and France

Amazing news. This is long overdue, and will hopefully get more people back into the series. I'm sure the home releases will continue to do well, as many anime fans tend to be collectors. It would be great if we could get the OG DB movies on there too, as only the first is available in the UK/Ireland.

Re: Dragon Ball and the PAL audio pitch adjustment/correction

The PAL speedup thing is something I'd only briefly heard of back in the day, and it wasn't until more recently that I read up on it extensively and had my mind blown. I remember watching the Rocky movies on TV years ago before later getting the DVDs. The DVDs, while still sped up, were pitch correc...

Re: Favorite DBZ arc?

It's nice too see Buu getting some love. I've always felt like the Frieza arc is my favourite, closely followed by the Saiyan arc. But the Buu arc is so unapologetically over the top that I can't help but love it. I love how unpredictable it is, and how Buu is both menacing and goofy as a villain. V...

Re: New worldwide releases of the anime: Super or Kai?

Kai 100%. It's the portion if the story that has proven the most popular, and has stood the test of time. Yes Kai has its issues like the redrawn scenes and limited Kikuchi score, but I don't think the average viewer would be put off by that. I know Kai isn't the actual beginning of the story, but i...

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...

I feel a bit mixed on this. On the one hand the filler in One Piece is a major turn off to the point of making Z's worst filler feel like a breeze. A way to watch One Piece without all that would certainly be welcome, as I've basically given up on the anime at this point. On the other hand I really ...

Re: The Ultimate Uncut Special Edition - The Faux Saban Dub

I just assumed they used those old season 3 lines in the trailer because they hadn't actually finished redubbing it yet. If they really wanted to trick fans then why not go all in and have Ian Corlett and Brian Drummond's voices be heard in the trailer? Also I'm listening to that intro and can't eve...

Re: The Ultimate Uncut Special Edition - The Faux Saban Dub

Yeah I'm not sure I buy that they were trying to trick fans. By 2005 the US had the Texas cast for the vast majority of the series. Part of the reason for the redub was to make those episodes more consistent with the rest, and also to hype up the re-release as a new experience. I'm mixed on Nathon J...

Re: RIP Pauline Newstone

RIP. It was an interesting performance, and sounded very sinister. The voice worked for that version of the character. I actually think Chris Ayres (also RIP) sounded somewhat similar to her at times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-OhIgJAGOE Shame she never got chance to voice other forms of Free...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

I think Sparking Zero's visuals look incredible so far. They've actually exceeded my expectations of what a modern BT game might look like. Comparing it to a game like Guilty Gear Strive isn't fair. The roster of this game will be enourmous compared to that game, which means there will be way more c...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

There might be two players at Sparking Zero, and it seems to have been worked at two years, not five. Source: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qmT1TWSFwUs It being in active development for 2 years makes more sense than 5. 5 years would be really long for a DB game, and would mean it was in developme...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

The game looks awesome. Where have people seen it was in development for 5 years? I've read that ign article up and down 3 times and can't see any mention of it. If that really is true then that's great. The old BT games were pumped out with a year of development each, and still managed to become fa...

Re: If faced with the choice of sacrificing the franchise's massive popularity

It's wonderful that it can help people, but I have a hard time with this hypothetical. Is the implication that the changes which bring it to a version closer to what we would prefer worth it even if the show wasn't as big. The implication from that is that the changes made it more popular. I have a...

except that George saved people in VERY provable and concrete ways. He literally saved his brother's life. This isn't remotely on that level. Some of the stories I was referring to include people being inspired to overcome drug addiction. Others have used the show as an escape from bullying or abus...

Re: If faced with the choice of sacrificing the franchise's massive popularity

That's a weird assertion especially nowadays with most entertainment being so segmented. There are so many movies and shows out there with small audiences that people know about. If I didn't know the series existed, my life wouldn't be worse off without it bc I wouldn't know about it. There being p...
