Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 10 - DB movie 1 (CURRENT WEEK)

Big Green's dub of this movie isn't that infamous, on account of it not being fully released to the public after the Toonami UK broadcasts of it stopped. One day those recordings will be found and released to the public... one day..... As for Speedy, I was under the impression that they never dubbed...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

I want to see your belly button from the edited 2001 dub was probably the best handling of the scene even if it's just weird. I disagree. It basically means that every scene where Roshi sees a pretty woman in a bikini is equivalent to the woman being nude. Honestly, the best way to censor that scen...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

Episode 3 may have removed "any hint of Master Roshi's lechery", but the double feature certainly didn't. Tone it down, sure, but he still wanted a favor from Bulma Lena that she wasn't fully comfortable with, groped the butt of the airplane stewardess, and stared at some young women short...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

Wasn't there a rumor or something that parents viewing the test airing of the HG dub complained about the bathing scene in ep 2?

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

I was under the impression that the Season Bluray footage was only used for the dub track. On a different note, I'm surprised nobody mentioned virtualdub for the purpose of transferring vhs to digital. It's certainly meant for that purpose, unlike OBS which was meant more for stuff like video game s...

removing the Japanese title cards (yes, really) While the Japanese episode titles didn't show up on either the Blue Bricks or the Green Bricks, they were in the Japanese viewing option on streaming sites that used the same masters... the Levels might've been the first master to have never been rele...

Not all of them, I think. Just the ones from the so-called Cell Games saga IIRC.

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

BW DB's encodes are a mess. Some episodes have audio that reminds me of the optical Japanese audio, some episodes have dynamic range compression... Some episodes, notable for covering all of the King Piccolo saga and all but one episode afterwards, have an issue of studdering and skipping around, to...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

There's also the Gota Magical dub which reused Zero y El Dragon Magico materials (despite apparently coming out after the Producciones Salgado dub), which covered the first sixty episodes (but not the double feature). I was under the impression (I don't speak Spanish or Portuguese, so I can't be sur...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

"Zero y El Dragon Magico" was a Spanish language take on the Harmony Gold dub done by the company Video Doblajes. It was relatively more successful. For one thing, it actually was shown outside one small area. It covered the double feature and 60 episodes before being canned, after which P...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

It's a shame the Facebook page with the Zero y El Dragon Magico episodes went down. Then again, of the first five episodes only 2-4 were uploaded. Shame I can't remember what other episodes were uploaded. I remember the last episode of the Goku vs Jackie Chun fight was uploaded. The episodes where G...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Scsigs, I pretty much agree with everything you said except for that last statement. I’m gonna hard disagree with you and agree with Scsigs here. The original dub, as bad as it is, is a finished product. Is it though? The mid-arc switch from the Ocean Group cast to the Texas cast is awkward as hell...

Re: What are the things so unlikely to happen, that they could actually happen?

The "raw" masters Funi has lying around for Z, cleaned up but neither DVNR'd nor sharpened, getting the release it deserves. Sure, that would mean Funi would be out of "improvements" for their releases, but there's only so much that can be done with multi-gen 16mm prints anyways,...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Scsigs, I pretty much agree with everything you said except for that last statement. The original dub, as bad as it is, is a finished product. The version of the dub shown on the Orange Bricks and onwards is based on an older base that isn't 100% in line with the original dub, meaning missing voice ...

Re: Team Faulconer - Singles vs Orange Bricks

I wasn't factoring in the Saban dub when I typed that. There isn't really much variation in those episodes, aside from the first few having some alternative takes/lines used to tone down references to death/killing. Even then, it's never been a situation of different music placements (aside from YTV...

Re: Team Faulconer - Singles vs Orange Bricks

Good luck documenting all of the different varieties of the Funi Z dub. 67b-291 alone has the Toonami version, the edited version (if it has less edits than Toonami), the Australian broadcast that had its own edits (might not count aside from eyecatches though), the YTV edit (which has line variants...

Re: Team Faulconer - Singles vs Orange Bricks

I was under the impression that well-authored ac3 was better than VHS Hi-Fi...

...then again, I did say "well-authored", and as little I know about the audio bitrate of the singles, I know the video bitrate was shit lol.

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

Also, if Big Green and Mayalsia are legit licensed dubs the I think TOEI really doesn't (or didnt) care about the quality of the product and in that regard we got lucky we didn't get a Big Green dub (tho Season 3 could definitely feel that way sometimes) Big Green is definitely a legit licensed dub...

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

Stupid phone.. I meant the japanese bluray or FUNi's 4:3 HD copy lol Well, the Amazon JP master is considered better than the Japanese Blu-ray due to lacking the DNR. Shame we don't have the non DNR'd copy in higher bitrate, but *shrug*. As for Funi's 4:3 HD master, I think the Ziwa Blu-ray is bett...
