I already disturbed him in the past and I don't ever want to do it again This isn't ringing a bell for me, so consider whatever happened water under the bridge. Feel free to ask about any part of the rips I made. I can't remember what my thought process was for those two rips, other than I just cop...

Re: Can someone explain to me this score removal in the "Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle" dubs?
Thanks for linking to my vids! ;) I don’t think stereo matters. The music and effects is all mono. It might be have something to do with the fact that those two tracks are slight (SLIGHT! I coukd only hardly tell a difference) variations of the usual grand choral piece. May they were last minute ins...

Re: Original BGM with the broadcast audio
A lackluster track for a lackluster powerup. I don’t think the ultimate Gohan placement is unfitting. The Faulconer track would be quite good and fitting if the powerup mattered but unfortunately this deceives the dub viewer into thinking something climactic has happened. And the dead dino friend pl...

And he gives off a hearty maniacal laugh. I thought it was comical actually, the idea of celebrating at the idea of making a little boy into the image of Piccolo Daimao.

The uniform says 魔 instead of 亀 on it. So it’s similar to the turtle school gi but Piccolo made it say demon, rather twisted of him. When Piccolo gives Gohan his turtle school gi, it has the boots and undershirt Goku gained after training with Kami (presumably neither are weighted).

Re: Just learned about the soushuusen manga release; can y’all vouch for it?
So when Toriyama/his colorist didn’t color in the sky/DB logo, Shonen Jump added color? My other question was about b/w and half color pages. Did the original publication add any color to those? I guess they’re really only pushing the full color editions but this seems to me to be the definitive ver...

Just learned about the soushuusen manga release; can y’all vouch for it?
It sounds like something I might purchase (have never bought the manga), though I currently don’t have any reliable way to wire money overseas. Assuming at some point I rectify that, I have some questions: The “official” price is around ¥600 per volume, which greatly surprised me given that it’s got...

Re: Download the unreleased Kikuchi tracks here
Yep, iirc kenisu eventually starts counting them as the same thing. He calls the other part “Tracks.” I don’t have “Pasta’s bombs” at all from the first film. I think that’s the only one; somehow I missed it. It came up in an early Z episode/really late DB episode I was watching and it really caught...

Re: How old is Gohan in each arc/film?
For actual ages, I guess Herms's Age Guide is the best resource. For depictions of Gohan's age, which I think is what the topic is really driving at, this is the best set of comparisons I could cobble together from the manga: https://i.ibb.co/bgnm0pY/Gohan-Age-Heights.png ( Health Warning : I've re...

How old is Gohan in each arc/film?
I’m sure this is trivially easy to answer. But until he got his hair cut before the Cell Came, his appearance is the same as in the Saiyan arc for what I can tell. Is there subtle aging going on in the way Toriyama/the anime drew him? Or do they hide all his aging inside the room of spirit and time?...

Jisho online says “demonic or magic being, inhabitant of hell (or the spirit world)”
Basically 魔族 means eastern style demon. the 族 implies membership in a family of some sort, but the word itself refers primarily to an individual spirit.

Re: Why did Mandelin not translate Mazoku?
魔族 doesn’t really translate to demon clan. It is its own concept that has a nuance of demon (魔) and clan (族), but the sum is greater than its parts. Whereas “Demon Clan” is the parts. The “clan” part is the more misleading. Are all the demons part of a clan? This sounds bizarre to the ears of Englis...

Actually I’ve never seen the movies. What’s the best way to buy this? I assume the Dragon Boxes have been superseded, and there’s a competent HD North American release.

Re: making custom DVDs?
Make sure the dubs are timed the same, then the process is trivial, once you learn it. A program like this can extract all the streams from your discs, and a program like this can put them back together the way you want. Then you’ll need a disc drive that can burn discs, and a disc of course. Assumi...

Re: DB is not better than DBZ
Right. All of Z was released on Dragon Box in the US, so I'm inclined to believe they sold well. The same audience who bought the Z Dragon Boxes would buy Dragon Ball. That was ten years ago when people still bought DVDs. And the group of people that would buy that was always going to be smaller th...

Re: DB is not better than DBZ
The Z split was not arbitary. It was after the (at that time) longest time skip. And the ending of the 23rd TB was the end of Goku’s quest to win the TB. Goku came of age: he went home (in DB he had left home and never returned), got married, and had a son. The Saiyan arc of the Z anime was set up t...

I'm gonna be really mad if they have film for all of Dragon Ball and arent using it  At they very least the Blue Bricks should have been a film scan if thats the case. What exactly are the “digitally remastered” blue bricks then? The same video transfer that FUNi apparently made 20 years ago f...

Re: Myth - "Funimation didn't acquire film masters of DBZ until 2008"
The status of the film is written in next to each airdate, so I think they were still running the film reels in real time. Frankly this is blowing my mind. I assumed the guy at the station just popped in a videotape with the programs and commercials all ready to go and hit play. They must have had ...

Re: Myth - "Funimation didn't acquire film masters of DBZ until 2008"
Excuse my ignorance: kei you’ve shown that film reels were used for airings until 2000 or so. ... What exactly would a TV station do with that film reel? I assumed they were sending video tapes around, since TV is video. Also, your film shows four reruns within a few months of the airdate, and then...
