Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal
Don't worry too much about it. I'd say it's just a way to make fans feel like they're in charge. I remember instances of voices in dubs actually being chosen by vote, and it didn't end well: people just voted for the prettiest voices without paying the slightest attention to the acting. There's a re...

Re: Biggest retcon in DragonBall?
What about Piccolo being a demon and then changed to a member of an alien race? Is that not a retcon? I would say it is a retcon, but my reading of Piccolo is that he's now both. When Kami split himself in two, his evil half became a demon, but he's still alien in origin. I don't entirely agree. De...

Re: Should Dragon Balls be able to bring people back to life?
Its obvious Ocean lampshaded a lot more than they mistranslated/censored in that irony. - Tenshinhan can grow extra arms. - They are being sent to "another dimension" and Piccolo casually asked Gohan to just wish him back when its over in the ocean scene. - Being sent to another dimension...

Yes, every volume contained 5 chapters, if I remember it well. The format was also larger than the Tankobon.Theophrastus wrote:But... the Dr. Slump manga is originally only 18 volumes long. Did they significantly cut the number of chapters per volume?UltimateHammerBro wrote:The manga has had a 40-volume release, then the Kanzenban.

Re: Has Dr Slump (anime and/or manga) been released in any countries outside of Japan?
In Spain, the anime was dubbed in several languages in the 80s (but only the first 50 episodes were dubbed in Spanish in the 2010s). The manga has had a 40-volume release, then the Kanzenban.

Re: Where's the "U" in "Krilin"... klirin... hum?
I'd say the answer is in this topic . If most countries went along with the Engrish scripts of variations thereof, they'd have seen "Crilin". I guess it's just a matter of how Japanese is pronounced and turned into Latin script: if we compare literal romanizations of kana and their adaptat...

Re: What was AB involvement with Dragon Ball's score?
IIRC, AB screened movies 12 and 13 together in French theatres. Maybe that had something to do with they changing movie 12's musical score: that carried on to other versions which used AB's materials.

Re: Should Dragon Balls be able to bring people back to life?
Yeah, but this is magic. Magic is inherently illogical. Yet not everything related to magic has to be illogical. If we accept that a dragon can be summoned by seven balls and grant a wish, and there are certain rules to the wishes he can grant, we've built an internal logic we can follow. It doesn'...

Re: Are Super's endings too much of the same?
I don't really care about the theme of the song. There have been songs about adventure, love, fighting, nostalgia, "something I can't really define" (and I'm placing Zenkai Power here) in the series, and they worked fine for the most part, so I don't think a more reflexive song similar to ...

Re: Should Dragon Balls be able to bring people back to life?
While God is capable of creating a dragon with great power, that doesn't necessarily mean he can utilize those powers, too. I certainly can't compute faster than a robot because I built it. Yeah, but this is magic. Magic is inherently illogical. Yet not everything related to magic has to be illogic...

Re: Should Dragon Balls be able to bring people back to life?
Not that I have a problem with characters coming back from the dead, but since the only time they tried to ask Shenron to kill he said he couldn't, they could have had the same limitations as Aladdin's Genie  Unfortunately, Dragon Ball (specifically, the moment you're referencing) predates Dis...

Re: Should Dragon Balls be able to bring people back to life?
I don't have any problem with the Dragon Balls being able to do that, but I do think it would have been interesting, story-wise, if they had had that limitation. It would have made death seem less cheap in the Dragon World. Not that I have a problem with characters coming back from the dead, but sin...

That's actually a great comparison. It's a simple statement and it doesn't add or substract anything from the "canon / non canon" debate. I bet this was the intended meaning.successoroffate wrote:The way I see GT is like this: "GT is to the DB, what Fear The Walking Dead is to The Walking Dead."

Re: Are Super's endings too much of the same?
I thought "Hello Hello" was nice: it had a nostalgic tone which fit with the series. I guess the next three endings didn't leave much of an impression in me, since I honestly can't recall them right now. "Yokayoka dance" felt incredibly wrong, and "Chao Han"... maybe it...

Re: Shoehorning GT after Super.
How are you going to make the Pilaf gang old again? If a proper explanation is provided, then yes, it's possible. That's the easiest part. They decide to try to take over the world again, gather the Dragon Balls, summon Shenron, wish to become adults, screw up the wording of their wish et voilà

Re: Shoehorning GT after Super.
I think the easiest route would be pissing Zeno off. He/they decide that mortals aren't prepared to have the power of the Gods, then stripes Goku and Vegeta of their powers, and instructs Beerus and Whis to stay away from them. Beerus is incredibly tired after everything that's happened, then goes t...

God, these random name changes are absolutely hilarious! Kuririn is Crilin Freeza is Freezer Ginyu is Gineu (kill me now, ...
