Re: Was Garlic Jr. so popular and Toei brought him back?
I think the others have got it right; he was the most plausible character to return (at least as far as DB movies go) and he has a direct relationship with several characters, including Gohan and Kami.

Re: Dragonball Funko Pops
I don't have anything outside the first two animes, as I'm not that familiar with Super enough to want Pops of them yet. That being said, I have a lot! - Kid Goku on Nimbus - Bulma w Radar - Krillin - Piccolo - 5 y/o Gohan - Frieza 4th Form - Super Saiyan Goku - Badman Vegeta - Future Trunks - Perfe...

Re: How much of a difference can exist between strength and speed?
It probably helped that Buu's body seemed to have an amorphous rubbery shock-absorpbent quality to itself. Cell, in spite of his regenerative traits, still had the semi-hard physiology of a normal humanoid. When you dealt damage to him, he could feel it. Buu just endured with no permanent injury in...

Ok thanks everyone. I knew in my heart he was wrong about that, but he said it with such conviction it gave me some doubts. I knew there was only one place where I could find the truth and I’m glad you all had a good laugh. To deconstruct the matter a bit more, your friend doesn't seem to realize t...

Re: How much of a difference can exist between strength and speed?
Piccolo Jr's enlargement and appendage expansion (one used against Krillin as he was hitting him) technique would have some credible applications then. Yes, he would make a far larger target, but each time he hits would incur a serious amount of damage versus whatever moderate amount he would norma...

Re: How much of a difference can exist between strength and speed?
An example of physicality having an influence was at one point a concept in the series. Think back to the second arc of DB. It was thanks to having longer legs and greater mass that Jackie Chun defeated Goku in the 21st tournament. Without that condition distinguishing his physical body from Goku's...

Re: Does Goku still care about the 4 star ball?
Only reason he cared about it was because he thought his grandpa was inside it Disagree, in the dub at least Goku also states numerous times that the Four-Star Ball is the only thing left for him to remember his grandpa by. I think it'd safe to say that he didn't believe his grandpa was in the ball...

Re: How much of a difference can exist between strength and speed?
The other main example is the Ascended forms of Super Saiyan seen in the Cell arc; both Goku and Trunks discover that while you have a huge amount of power, you are unable to move as quickly to deliver the blows. I think it's mainly a physicality thing; when Vegeta gets a "zenkai" boost on...

Re: Does Goku still care about the 4 star ball?
Goku didn't forget about his Grandpa, he would never... Toriyama did. He reenacted his fight with Gohan while he was at Baba's to pick up Freeza. It's hard to say who might have come up with that idea, considering it's based entirely in animation and would be summed up in the script as "Goku t...

Re: What is your favourite single minute from the whole Dragon Ball Franchise?
Those are both great points to add. I remember in the "What If" thread, somebody asked what would have happened had Goku won the 21st Budokai, and literally everybody who responded, said nothing about the series would change. I thought, that's extremely lame, the whole plot of the arc was...

Re: How Toei is making certain characters from the movies CANON
Dragon Ball Online is in no way connected to the anime "canon". In fact, it completely ignores the anime. Dragon Ball Online takes place in/is in line with/is meant to follow solely Toriyama's original manga continuity. That's one of the reasons that put it above any other game (and above...

Re: I think Dinsey will do the next Dragonball live action movie...
I think if Disney were to make a live-action movie they'd stretch the definition, kinda like what Jungle Book did where it had a single live-action character in a movie that was otherwise 100% CG.

Re: How Toei is making certain characters from the movies CANON
Canon is a confusing term for Dragon Ball to put things lightly. The DB franchise has multiple levels of canon when it comes to which stories apply to what. For example, the Bardock special is only canon to the anime, while the short Bardock story in DB Minus is canon to the manga. Post-Z content ge...

Re: What is your favourite single minute from the whole Dragon Ball Franchise?
Even big fans of the series often say that Goku has no character development and he's the same from beginning to end, but I disagree. I think the reason I like the Tao stuff so much is because it was a very pivotal moment in Goku's journey. He wasn't always so ambitious and hard working, before mee...

Re: What is your favourite single minute from the whole Dragon Ball Franchise?
The bit is so iconic to me, maybe because the anime liked using it in flashbacks so much, but it epitomizes the journey and growth of kid Goku for me. Surpassing Tao, the 290 year old immortal assassin, was a big deal. Dragon Ball might have more brutal moments, and it might have better choreograph...

Speaking of movies, is there any good place to get the Trunks/Bardock duo and the Extended Resurrection F on Region 2 Blu-Ray? (aka New Zealand) I can only find the DVD of the former and the Theatrical cut of the latter.

Re: which Saga have you re-watched the most and which saga have you re-watched the least
Surprisingly it's probably the Saiyan arc as depicted in Kai. As for the least, the Buu arc. I watched it once online going from Japanese Kai and then to OG Dub (since Kai was still being done at the time), and I've only seen it again as part of The Final Chapters a few days ago, a much more enjoyab...

Re: What is your favourite single minute from the whole Dragon Ball Franchise?
It's way more than a minute, but the opening to the very first episode of Kai that recaps the original Dragon Ball. I get why the original Z didn't have this (Funimation would basically have to ask for ALL of Dragon Ball and then compile bits of it to make such a montage), but if you're starting fro...

Re: Does Toriyama give a shit about Dragon Ball?
Toriyama's come up with saiyan recolors and a golden frieza. I don't think he's that motivated. He probably came back because Toei offered him some money and he needed it. The time was right. Super Saiyan is also a recolour technically speaking. In fact it's a no-colour to spare his inker some extr...

I dunno, if I lived in North Korea and they had banned Dragon Ball I'd think twice before pirating it under Kim's watch.
