New Dragon Ball Assumptions ("Don't Call It Canon!") Guide - Draft, Added Chart
Hey guys! I posted this over on Reddit, but I suspect that this group may be better targeted for this sort of analysis. I've been considering how difficult it is to keep track of the relationships between various Dragon Ball media. What adapts what? What media considers Tarble (and "Yo! Son Gok...

VizKids chapter books
A comment on Reddit cracked open a dark corner of my brain and I remembered the old VizKids chapter books. I remember seeing one at my library and thinking it was a direct retelling of the manga as an easy-reader chapter book, but I honestly didn't look very hard. You can find all ten volumes on Ama...

Re: Toriyama+Toyble - the change in style in the Goku Black
Of course, Toyble is doing the manga. And yet... I can't help but think he is contributing some DNA in to the anime as well. Just a feeling. We've been through three Toei arcs that didn't have this "fanon" flavor.

Toriyama+Toyble - the change in style in the Goku Black arc
I've been thinking about this, but it feels to me that there is something "behind the scenes" going on with the plotting of the latest arc. Consider this: Toriyama builds excellent characters and sequences, but doesn't stitch them together for the long haul. He gets good ideas and somehow ...

Cha-La Head-Cha-La - Genki Dama & Lyrics question
This is a bit of a strange question, but only the folks here at Kanzenshuu can be crazy enough to answer it... It occurred to me that "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" mentions the Genki-Dama, the "Sprit Bomb"... but that's actually quite amazing when you think about it. The opening first deb...

Re: Episode #0400 (27 March 2016)
I haven't been able to listen yet, but did they comment on when the next episode of the GT Review of Awesomeness was coming out?
Seriously, congratulations on 400 episodes! Now onward and upward to 500! I'm hoping that for THAT interview, you manage to get Akira Toriyama himself.

Viz/UTA developing live-action Dragonball series?
Probably not, but news is out today that they have partnered with "UTA" to build live-action shows based on their manga properties: http://deadline.com/2016/03/viz-media-anime-deal-uta-dragon-ball-z-sailor-moon-1201725047/ “The UTA partnership represents an important new direction for VIZ ...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Can we talk about the episode title "leaks" for a second? Do we think the fake titles WERE real, but changed late in production? Could this be something to do with Morio Hatano's appointment as series director? It seems however that it would take a lot to change the outcome of the episodes...

Re: Episode #0391 (22 November 2015)
Congratulations on 10 years! I look forward to listening to this podcast episode on my drive in next week. I hope you mention it, but I'm still patiently hoping for the GT Review of Awesomeness to resume. I know that Super is keeping everyone busy and-- let's face it-- GT sucks and is rapidly moving...

Saiyans - Galactic Wusses?
Okay. Enough questions that have answers, how about one that we can argue about? The question: Why are the Saiyans important to Freeza? Of course, we have the concept of the mythical "Super Saiyan" that causes him to have fear, but everyone has their own mythology and it does not seem reas...

Early Dragon Ball Z movie history questions
I need some schooling in Dragon Ball history... The *third* movie was released in the production run of the Saban horribly-edited pre-CN two seasons of Dragon Ball, correct? It was dubbed by Ocean Group and released as three episodes. The movie guide explains that pretty well. Saban DBZ ends January...

Room of Spirit and Time in Dragon Ball
From what I have been able to tell, there are only a handful of elements in the Dragon Ball manga which were originally created for one of the two anime series. Bardock is the easy example of a character introduced in the anime which Toriyama liked and eventually used, but are there others. Now, I a...

Movie Releases in Japan?
The "Movie Guide" on this site says that the premiers for all (?) of the Dragon Ball movies were at animation and manga festivals. After that point, where did they go? Did they all get released to Japanese theaters as feature films? Did they go direct to video, or whatever the Japanese equ...

One of my big difficulties as a fan is being able to sift the truth from the bullshit. You find a perfectly good Dragon Ball site with lots of information that you didn't know and it looks like they worked pretty hard on it, but then you find a section about Pan going SSJ2 and Dragon Ball AF and tha...

Canon or Delusions?
Sometimes, I delude myself by thinking that I know a lot about Dragon Ball. I have all the manga (some even in Japanese that I state forlornly at, fruitlessly willing comprehension), I have most of the DVDs. (I'm buing them in order, so I'm still stuck on Cell Games.) I've reached a sad level of obs...
