Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Could it be that "Why Watch The Bay On Baywatch?" is stock music? It doesn't sound like something Kikuchi could have composed, does it? It's definitely my hypothesis that it's stock music. Something I want to bring up about the last unreleased cue from Mystical Adventure, "Metallic T...

Re: Why is kikuchi bgm called MXXX M2XXXX?
Well, first off, the M-numbers are basically the production codes for each music cue. The number directly after the M indicates which recording session it came from. The movie music is numbered, for the most part, by the order in which each cue appears in the film, so most of the time it's easy enou...

Re: Episode #0392 (06 December 2015)
And to steal a bit from Chris Psaros' DBZ Uncensored : The moment Gohan gets his neck broken by Rikuum's kick is SO much more dramatic in the Japanese version, and once again, it's all because of the sound direction, or in this case, the lack thereof. What happens is that Gohan comes in to strike, ...

It's never been released (along with the rest of the made-for-TV GT score), but occasionally a low-quality isolation crops up. The cue you're looking for is this one, and for future reference, I have a site for identifying music cues from DragonBall.

Re: Why didn't Akihito Tokunaga come back for Kai?
I feel like I'm one of the only people on this forum who really does not enjoy Akihito Tokunaga's work in DragonBall? Saikyo e no Michi included? I just feel like it's corny, tinny, and boring... I legitimately wonder where all the love for his work comes from. To be honest, I've always had a certa...

Re: Episode #0392 (06 December 2015)
I can totally agree with Kirbopher about the Sumitomo cue that was used for Pure Boo's final moments. I haven't watched Final Chapters anywhere past what I've documented, so at first I didn't know what piece that would have been, but I immediately recognized it when the sample started up. It was fir...

Here's another reason I should type up my expanded/revised notes for the movies soon. Had they already been up, it might have saved quite a bit of confusion (assuming my guesses are right). Kenisu3000, was "Octagons Aplenty" intended for DB Movie 3? It does have the shorter-length, common ...

To Ree and raulvalente, I'm afraid I haven't documented anything from Super. Plus, if the cues you're looking for are indeed original music from Super, getting the cue names probably won't do you any good as I haven't heard of any BGM releases for the new series yet.

As far as the unreleased cues go, here are YouTube links, if that helps any. (I don't know where you'd find the mp3s.) Goku Approaches The Castle (Movie 1) It's Dr. Willow's Fault (Movie 2) The Shinseiju Is Grown (Movie 3) Oozaru Gohan Whacks Goku (Movie 3) Preserving Dr. Willow's Brain (Movie 2) Dr...

Next, One of my personal favorite Dragon Ball tracks of all time: M201 Took the words right out of my mouth. I adore this cue, and everything about the scene it was composed for. The way the music starts up before the Toei logo even appears, the slow, ominous buildup over the mist and parting cloud...

Re: Kuririn mockery - Movies fault?
DBZ Movie 9: Everyone had hard time against Bojack and his pirate crew, and Kuririn manager to win with Piccolo (Latter forfeit, but still :D ) Movie 9 had plenty of Kuririn buttmonkishness (buttmonkery?). Sure, he did win against Piccolo due to forfeit, but his dignity didn't really survive that s...

Re: Ree vs. DBZ Uncensored
It's easy to see the point I'm trying to make when one compares certain scenes of the Japanese version with the corresponding English ones. I have found that the new music shows it's true powerlessness most evidently during scenes of great emotion, such as the death sequences. I will never forget w...

Wonder what the Vol. 4 soundtrack was going to include? Would this have been one of them? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KhBHcz0cbg The tracklisting was made available before the cancellation, and... well, I'll just quote what I posted back then, in that thread . Guess what. They've revealed the ...

There is also this one one instrument that is used constantly that I'm forgetting the name of it at the moment, which is sad because we had learned to use it my elementary school music class. Its that thing that sounds like a rattlesnake rattling when vibrates. OK, first off, you're thinking of a v...

Re: Sumitomo's Report Card (Music Thoughts)
As far as I'm concerned, Sumitomo is not doing Super any favors. With the other DragonBall stuff he's scored, I've at least been able to become attached to a few great cues here and there, albeit only after sifting through the amorphous non-statements that are so overwhelmingly present in his work. ...

Re: Iconic scenes ruined by the dub?
In the Japanese version, one of the most powerful moments to me was when Goku says, "Kuririn-kun... He's been murdered!" Adding the suffix, which is something Goku never does, was a touch that really helped express Goku's pain. Well, I hate to be the bubble-burster here, but Goku doesn't ...

Re: What if Faulconer's soundtrack was the original?
I love his work, but a couple of Kikuchi's themes are hard to listen to by themselves IMO. *cough* Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Pawā! *cough* Kikuchi had nothing to do with Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Pawaa!. That one was composed by Takeshi Ike. The songs are a completely separate beast from the score, and...

Would that unused piece happen to be the first cue that appears in the "Reunion! Tenkaichi Budokai" track from the BGM Collection? Yes, it's M1018. (My personal title, though I don't think I've used it on the site yet, is "Spectator Tullece".) And now I just remembered that it w...
