Re: What would have happened if the Harmony Gold run was actually successful?

We’re assuming the reason Harmony Gold dub didn’t go through because of underperforming test runs but watching the dub it seems more likely HG realized the show had too much objectionable content for them so they dropped it. Playboy Bunny Bulma and Armor Bikini Chi Chi was probably too much for the...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

I've been meaning to mention this on Kanzenshuu for a little over a year now, so better late than never: There's a recent American comic book miniseries called "No One Left to Fight", by Aubrey Sitterson and Fico Ossio that is openly inspired by Dragon Ball. I haven't gotten to reading it ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

You know our boss Mike LaBrie has/had a hard time pronouncing "Kuririn"? Maybe he should try pronouncing it like "Kurillin", i.e. a cross between "Kuririn" and "Krillin". That's sort of how its annunciated in Japanese, and it preserves the "kuri" pun...

Official (I hope) Cosplay Thread

I'm surprised there isn't one already. I'm not a cosplayer, but have long admired the craft and would like to finally join the community once this pandemic is over. Here are a few cosplay pics to start off with Akemi as Bunny Bulma : https://i.etsystatic.com/13912301/r/il/a6d035/2019674553/il_570xN....

Does Gen Fukunaga still own a 5% stake in FUNImation?

Not to bring up any corporate-related controversies, but does anyone who if Gen Fukunaga stills own a 5% stake in FUNImation, with Sony Pictures TV of course owning the remaining 95%? Or did Sony buy him out while I wasn't looking? I know he's somewhat scaled back his involvement with the company, b...

Can we have the ability to "Like" and otherwise react to posts?

Sorry, if this has already been asked before:

Can we have the ability to "Like" and otherwise react to posts?

It would be super handy IMHO.

Re: Funimation Featured on Anime Production Committees For Three Titles in Winter 2020 Season

Disney was a production partner on all (or nearly all) Studio Ghibli movies from 2002's The Cat Returns up to 2016's The Red Turtle (apparently, as Toho Kingdom lists Disney's Buena Vista as a production partner on that film ). So, American companies co-producing anime is nothing new, and already ha...

Re: Brice Armstrong (Captain Ginyu, Lord Slug) passed away

He also voiced Senbei Norimaki in the Dr. Slump crossover episodes. What a sad coincidence that Senbei's original seiyuu, Kenji Utsumi, is also dead. I remember how in the Budokai 3 bonus DVD, Brice talked about being a longtime comic and cartoon fan. And him going a dairy-themed Ginyu joke during t...

From I can tell, they were engaged and had a child together, but never actually tied the knot.

This post over at Rangerboard breaks down the first 50 or minutes of what Sarah said in the interview, FYI.

People working on (at least relatively) family-friendly cartoons, be they voice actors or artists, have done risque stuff as personal in-jokes since at least 1929. This kind of stuff is nothing new at all.

Has anyone else here seen this video on the animation in DB Fighterz and Guilty Gear Xrd? I found it through Kotaku.

The Microsoft store is selling the first "season"s of DBZ and DBS digitally for free for a limited time, though they unfortunately appear to be dub-only:

I quite like that they changed the name of Videl's superhero identity from "Great Saiyaman #2" to "Saiyagirl".

How did Lunch get the ability to change not only her personality, but also her hair color whenever she sneezes?

Will #17 and 18 ever regain memories of their pre-cyborg lives, including their real names (which I know have already been revealed in guidebooks, but the characters themselves don't know)?

I haven't met any DB voice actors to date (AFAIK), but I have met some people who have voiced superheroes (i.e. Rob Paulsen of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", Phil LaMarr of "Justice League", and David Kaye of several "Transformers" cartoon). EDIT: I go as far to say th...

Re: Why did Dragon Ball never do a movie version of the Piccolo Daimou saga?

If Japanese Wikipedia is to be believed, the fourth movie in the 1980s was originally planned to be based on the Piccolo arc. But since the TV series was transitioning into the DBZ era, it was scrapped and we got the Garlic Jr. movie instead.
