Re: Sexual Assault: Fiction and Reality
I disagree. If other characters were looking at Goku's child penis and showing attraction to it, then it would be problematic. But without that, it's just a body part. Body parts are not inherently sexual.

Because he's lying. Because he still signs non-gay-coded unofficial stuff. Which is why I said "makes excuses about it". I actually almost wrote a part about "I'm on the fence re the homophobia claims", because I kinda am. I think there's a line between just not wanting to endors...

Re: Vic Mignogna
but it isn't fair to Vic. Everyone is just saying, stop letting him into conventions and Funi should stop hiring him for their own brand image sake. Has anyone in this entire thread, argued against that? It doesn't matter if they have or they haven't, because it's getting lost under comment...

Re: Sexual Assault: Fiction and Reality
You think the human body is troubling? ... I've come to realise that culturally America has a really, really.... Weird relationship with nudity. The people who've replied to post have all missed the point. I said "it should be more troubling" meaning I don't think it's the case. The point...

Re: Vic Mignogna
We need to stop getting so hung up over word use and derailing the point for the sake of it, because all it does is marginalise what he's done and the effect that's had on people. They don't do it to marginalize what anyone did. I am pretty sure most people here are aware that Vic Mignogna is a som...

Re: Sexual Assault: Fiction and Reality
I think the depiction of kid Goku's penis multiple times throughout the entire series should be far more troubling than Roshi's antics. You think the human body is troubling ? ... I've come to realise that culturally America has a really, really.... Weird relationship with nudity. Like, all nudity ...

Re: Vic Mignogna
Neil Kaplan joins the fray to talk about the first time he met Mic Vignogna and was unceremoniously sexually assaulted in front of an audience. Christ, there's video, too. Just curious, but why did you use the words "sexually assaulted" here? That's exactly my point. People are throwing a...

Re: Why Battle of Gods will always be THE BEST Dragon Ball Movie EVER!
So, I typically have this point of view that stuff should use the medium of choice to great advantage and everything else comes second. The best examples are video games - they should have good gameplay first , way ahead of story or looking good. Of course there are exceptions to the rules, of cours...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread
Movie seems to have been extended here in the UK, again. Now seeing showings crop up all week. I’m in a major metropolitan area, but I’m still shocked! Same, there's one theatre in Dublin (Liffey Valley) that is still showing Broly until Thursday at least, at which point it will have been out here ...

Re: DB/Z on VHS Nostalgia
:) Wow. Hit me right in the feels. I finally donated the vast majority of my VHS this year to a guy who preserves and digitises VHS, especially adverts and shit. They take up so much room. I have such a weird affinity for VHS. For sitting in front of it as a kid and setting it up to record things wh...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Absolutely agree. I can't believe how many people say the CGI on the characters looks good. It looks abysmal. Luckily, the rest looks so good I can forgive it. 2D animation can be so stylised and free that it makes the 3D stuff look even more stale and jaggered? It's just so unnatural looking. As fo...

Sure!Saiyanhime, you can't vote for a mix of both because there is no such character. However, if you like both Bardocks equally, you can vote "I like both Bardocks equally" and I'll count your vote.

Re: Would you say that Dragon Ball in the west is more “mainstream” now than it ever was in the past?
I agree with others saying it's difficult to say for sure... And that the UK definitely seems to have a weird relationship with the series due to inaccessibility. Back in the early 2000s, I didn't really run into too many people "in the wild" who were into it. There wasn't much merch avail...

BFI finally released their numbers for the week concerning DBS. And My mum's boyfriend mentioned to me he'd seen it as #3 on some late night cinema Box Office show. https://www.bfi.org.uk/education-research/film-industry-statistics-research/weekend-box-office-figures https://i.imgur.com/xvuRb1A.jpg ...

Re: Vic Mignogna
If you want to get into the best way of responding to this, and talking about stuff like the "author vs the art" idea, then I'd at this point like to say -- probably my preferred solution would be if Funimation sever ties with him, bring in a new casting for Broly as soon as possible, and...

Re: What Bardock do you prefer?
I'd personally like a mix of both. I don't like the idea of Goku having been sent off by his parents, I like the idea of them having not had a choice. It feels just a bit too cliche for them to have chosen to send him off and managed to get away with it. They can care - they can mourn even, that's f...

Ugh, the article made me feel sick.
Guys saying innocent until proven guilty - yeeesss, but have you looked at the article? With your eyes? Numerous allegations and they're varied in context, but they all paint the same gross picture.
