Re: LIVE Interview with DALE KELLY (Narrator, Ginyu) on 1/29

I listened to this yesterday, and now that I'm thinking about it: could the strain between FUNimation and Kelly be the reason that there was no "Rock the Dragon"-type release for any of the edited Toonami season 3+ material?

Re: Should Funimation skip the first two DB Super arcs?

Even if that part of the story has been told better before, it's still a part of the show itself, and if it's shitty, then, well, the first two arcs of the show are shitty. Such is life, but FUNimation is rightfully beyond taking matters into their own hands. Plus I haven't seen the new movies yet, ...

Re: Spain: DBZ movies will be released on Blu-Ray

It may be worth picking up a few of these in the future, seeing as FUNimation's movie Blu-rays range from "pretty good" to "mediocre" to "not very good".

Re: Dragon Ball Z Spanish Dub

The Ultimate Uncut Editions and FUNimation's single for movie 5 have the Mexican dub, but that's only for a very small portion of the series. They also released a few further DVDs somewhere in Latin America with the orange brick footage, I believe.

Re: Funimation's original DBZ movie Blu-Rays

If it's something you're into, the Broly double (not triple!) feature Blu-ray has alternate angles for the Japanese track, which is, as far as I know, the only Dragon Ball Blu-ray where that is the case, though it lacks the dub with Japanese music track.

Re: Japanese Kai underrated?

So, is the original Japanese version of Kai bad? Not at all. However, when a better option (DBZ) exists, there's just not much reason to get excited about a version that's exactly the same as what came before, just not quite as good. Exactly the same, other than lacking an at times nut-crunchingly ...

Clyde Mandelin's Subtitles Inferior?

I've read on this forum that some consider Mandelin's subtitles for the original Dragon Ball series to be, while good, not as good as Steve Simmon's for DB 14-28, DBZ, DBGT, and Kai. What are the particular issues with them?

Re: Message for fluent japanese Dragon Ball watchers

I am not a fluent Japanese speaker, but I do speak a foreign language (German) to a high enough level to be able to watch TV shows in that language. It's a slightly different experience than watching something in a language that you don't understand with subtitles, and in a way, I can sympathize wit...

Re: Are you satisfied with all the releases we have gotten?

I really didn't find there to be that much damage on the GT singles, and the grain is relatively minor. I own the first two singles boxes, plus the TV special (which looks horrendous, but it does on every release). I also own the green bricks. Macroblocking is an issue, certainly, but that's only du...

Re: Are you satisfied with all the releases we have gotten?

I am absolutely not satisfied with Viz's releases, and as such have been importing a foreign translation which I find superior. Which translation, out of curiosity? Back to the topic though, I'm pretty satisfied with the releases so far. It could definitely, definitely be better (I would love Drago...

Re: Are you satisfied with all the releases we have gotten?

The releases for the anime have their flaws, but I'm mostly satisfied. Other than Kai, though, I just can't see myself re-buying a series that I'm honestly not going to watch again because of the pacing, other than maybe a volume or two if it comes out on Blu-ray again. Well, for Z at least. For Dra...

http://thedaoofdragonball.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/funimation-productions-logo.png I really actually like the old logo. I mean, it's extremely simplistic, yes, but it looks very old-school, immediately recognizable and somewhat nostalgic, like the old 4Kids! logo, which I used to see a lot wh...

Re: Dragon Ball vs Dragon Ball Movies

They're certainly nice to just throw in and relax if I want a short burst of Dragon Ball, but so much is simplified/taken out, and I just don't get as much of the Toriyama feel, that I would prefer to read the manga/watch the TV series in general.

Jk.

Take breaks. Watching other genre anime like seinin/shoujo might relief the burnout. That, or stop watchin any DragonBall related shows/games for 3-4 months
And sit-ups, too?

Re: What was the first piece of content you saw of GT?

It was probably some episode of FUNimation's dub on Toonami, but which it was, I honestly cannot remember. I think I was like 7 or 8 when it came out, and only being able to watch Cartoon Network when I went on vacation probably didn't help.

Re: FUNI Super dub - What are your wishes?

Kikuchi's score being put in Kai is perfectly fine because 1) it's Toei's prerogative as the show's creators to replace the music if they deem it necessary, and 2) Yamamoto's plagiarism shenanigans probably did make it necessary. I really want to stress the "as the show's creators" part. ...
