Well, Trunks said that Gohan has performed the transformation correctly, so I guess I would put its strength as equal to SS Grade II, while the speed increases proportionally instead of decreasing due to a large muscle mass, and the energy drain is way lesser.

Living a lie due to FUNi or DB anime-specific crap in general is something many of us have been through. I suppose having the truth revealed is partially what's interesting about DB, and something to discuss about.

SSJG is an entirely different transformation. You can't assume stuff as fact just because it was the case with other transformations.
