Re: Is it wrong I hate most of the fandom?
I think at least part of the annoyance comes from the fact that DBZ is still a kids' show at the end of the day, and so you're going to have these twelve-year-olds on the internet who are still getting off on the anonymity. Then again, some adults are just as bad.

Re: ATTN DBZ Fandom - STOP CALLING PEOPLE ____TARDS
I've seen "Narutard" here, in reference to someone who likes Naruto (on a DBZ forum!?).
That was a couple years ago. Found it pretty funny then. Not sure I would now.

Re: Positive changes/Woolseyisms
In terms of something that's intentionally funny (which I think is what we're talking about), it's always laughing at it as opposed to laughing with it, unfortunately. I don't watch a lot of anime these days -- are FUNimation generally funnier (get it?) than they used to be?

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I shoudn't be this excited, but I am. If the animation's great, I'll watch it, buy it, everything, even if the story's dumb. The older I get, the more I realize how important that is. Don't skimp on the animation. Toei, do this right.

What is? The mere appearance of crucifixes in the comic? I disagree.GS7X7 wrote:PD. what about with Viz censoring crucifixes? Aren't those unnaturally inflammatory one of the world's major religions and its followers?

Which I did acknowledge, but why is it that those people have a say in what other people who aren't bothered are allowed to view? It's entirely possible to not consume media which offends you. I just don't think "I'm offended" should be enough to change or censor a product for everyone el...

Re: Who (or what) is Mr. Popo?
Just curious PD, but how do you feel about Viz censoring "Hell's Blast" and getting rid of crucifixes in their comics? In other words, everything should be censored or nothing should be censored. Well, I disagree. I think we can totally pick and choose what we censor and what we leave unc...

Re: Who (or what) is Mr. Popo?
Really the main problem that I see with Popo's look is his lips (yes, it is racist -- and some people have explained it in this thread better than I could. Also I'm not American, so there's that). So Viz was right to make his lips less prominent. I don't see what turning him blue accomplishes, thoug...

Re: Check Out Akira Toriyama Mansion ;)
I've never understood the mentality that just because you're rich, you need to live in a large house. No offense. By "no offense", I'm assuming that you thought that was something I said in my post. Maybe when I said "Toriyama could be living in a bigger house" you thought I sai...

Re: FUNI using rock bands = Your first exposure?
I really don't like metal at all (goes without saying that I don't listen to it on my own time), but for the first Broly movie, where it's basically Broly smashing people's heads against walls for 90 minutes, I can't think of any other music more appropriate. On a semi-related note, I just beat the ...

Re: Check Out Akira Toriyama Mansion ;)
His house sticks so much lol. Is that really like Toriyama? It's a really nice house, but -- not to be rude or anything -- Toriyama could be living in a much bigger house, couldn't he? I don't know how much he's worth, but considering what a worldwide phenomenon DB is, it would have to be a whole lo...

Re: Where would you have ended the series?
The Cell saga did have the nice passing of the torch to Gohan at the end, but it's still a mess of inconsistencies that's all based on the return of the Red Ribbon Army, of all things. Not a good ending in my opinion. As much as I like first half of Z, I would have ended it before it even started. K...

Re: "The Majin Boo Arc is a subtle parody of the rest of DBZ
As much as I'd like to give Toriyama more credit, the Boo arc feels more cliche than parody to me. Doesn't mean it's not good for some shit and giggles, though.

Re: Watching DBGT Japanese (1st time) Ep:2
The first five was VERY predictable. I mean, shit. I'm shocked it wasn't done earlier. The six one was built up. Going by the anime it wasn't AS shocking. Krillin living was obvious. Vegeta living and Namek balls was really shocking. So no. Z wasn't really shocking at all Goku having a son, yeah, I...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 3/Budokai 3 Turns 10
No, it plays like itself completely independent of those games, and it's a wonderful game in and of itself separate from ( and simultaneously complemented by ) the fact that it was developed by a team with a long history in creating some of the best fighting games ever made. Despite the confusing s...

http://www.animecauldron.com/dbzuncensored2/misc/funisez.html While not the original interview, this piece from "DBZ Uncensored 2" does reference and cite the Gen Fukunaga interviews several times, and compiles comments made from FUNimation employes throughout the late 90's through the mi...

Re: Replacement Score Existence
It's not speculation. It's an actual interview with (I think it was Gen Fukunaga?) that put it all right out on the table: they could charge royalties for their own music being heard. As a small-ass company at the time, that made sense. All the talk about the "sound" of the score was inci...

Re: Replacement Score Existence
Actually, the main reason the powers that be at FUNimation replaced the original score was because it since their big property (DBZ) aired on network TV, they could charge royalties for every second of FUNimation-owned music that played. I've heard people say this, and while it makes sense (though ...

Re: Replacement Score Existence
Because it sounded dated. Scott Morgan, who worked on the replacement score, compared the original score to a 50s horror movie, and, looking into that myself, I can say it does, especially the horns. FUNimation wanted a newer sounding score because they wanted DBZ to be a success. Now, whether or no...
