Re: Odd Picture Request
Here's one I found in a Google search. It's CGI and his arms are outstretched; no gun, though. http://media.indiedb.com/images/games/1 ... rmDemo.png

Re: REAL Reasons to Dislike the Original Japanese Version
A movie or an episode of a television show is the sum of its parts. Of course the intended way to enjoy the work was to just understand the dialogue as it was being spoken, but if you can't do so, surely the second-best thing would be to be presented with an explanation of what's being said, rather...

Re: REAL Reasons to Dislike the Original Japanese Version
The music is very repetitive. Sure, lots of shows rely on a few stock themes, but Dragon Ball (particularly Z ) is an incredibly long-running show with lots of filler. While going through the Japanese version for the first time (which I still am, very slowly; I still have Dragon Boxes 5–7 shrinkwrap...

Re: Which TV do you watch YOUR anime on?
I started watching on my old Toshiba 27" 480i CRT, which sounds way outdated now, but it has component inputs, which made it pretty sweet in its day. Now it's a 55" 1920x1080p Samsung (like DHM211 above me) with an upscaling Blu-ray player. I also recently got an ASUS 25" 1920x1080 mo...

Re: US Dragon Box questions
I forget whether VLC screencaps work this way, but with MPC, DVD screencaps come out at 720x480 resolution—DVD's native resolution without being scaled by the video player. After saving your image (File→Save Image or Alt+I), you'll want to drop it into photo editing software. GIMP does the job for f...

Re: FUNimation DBZ TV Blu-ray Official On-Going Thread
funimation is really making themselves look really dumb and bad. They need to release something to make them look good again with the DB franchise. Either rerelease the Z dragon boxes for a short period of time or release the DB dragon box or movie dragon box. The sudden cancellation of the Blu-ray...

Re: FUNimation DBZ TV Blu-ray Official On-Going Thread
That plenty of people are convinced that anything older than a few years old "can't" be HD. Plenty of people are under the impression that older material is all like filmed on tape TV shows, that it can never have a proper HD release. True; A friend recently asked me how The Godfather (yo...

Re: Detail Loss in the Orange Bricks: Not Seeing It
The orange bricks aren't as bad as they are made out to be. They were the first releases in North America and Australia to have both Kikuchis and Faulconers score. In the dub they touhed up the scripts and made it sound way better than the first Funi dub, and the voice actors improved A LOT. As for...

Re: So... Why the different animation styles for the TV seri
I think we've all noticed it especially now that we're older. There are episodes that are just beautiful to watch like the one where Freeza get's sliced in half or when 17 get's absorbed. Other times it just looks like poorly drawn fan art. The episode where Trunks cuts Freeza in half at the end lo...

Re: Detail Loss in the Orange Bricks: Not Seeing It
Is this about the season sets? Then go by season 1 and watch the extras from the last disc. They'll tell you what they did. Do you mean extras like this interview with Steve Franko that you posted earlier in this thread? The orange bricks aren't THAT bad. Sure there's some loss of image BUT you hav...

Re: Dragonball references poping up every now and then
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the Nintendo 64 had a nod to Super Saiyan hair.
Super Sonic, first seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is a pretty obvious nod to Super Saiyans.
And... well, there was Soulja Boy. I think most of you remember that.

Re: Did FUNimation overstep their bounds?
Make that a butchered Pilaf arc with a damn-near-the-crack-of-dawn timeslot, which inherently gets far less views than say...a 5 or 6 pm timeslot. Agreed. I watched it back then, and only one of my friends remembers watching it too. Later, I caught Z during its Saturday morning run, but I didn't kn...

Re: Would you buy all Dragon Boxes if FUNimation released th
Since I'm in no rush to buy up the rest of the series (having already waited 15 years to own Z) I have no desire to buy the blue and green bricks so long as there's the slightest chance the Dragon Boxes will come here. So, yeah. Not only will I buy them, I'm willing to play the waiting game and not...

Re: Which names to go with?
While Kakarot is often used as a translation of Goku's Saiyan name, consider the full Kakarotto with the "to" on the end, consistent with the fused Vegetto. (The manga translation gets around this by naming the fusion Vegerot, while the dub's Vegito seems to miss the name-fusion altogether.)

Re: Dragonbox 2 outragous price.....
It's FUNimation. It'll happen. Trust me. FUNimation LOVES reissuing material. I'm pretty sure they only have like 5 shows, but they keep reissuing them over and over to deceive us into thinking they have dozens. ;p Dragon Ball/Z/GT, Yu Yu Hakusho, One Piece...uh...um. Oh, and Kai ; can't forget abo...

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
Looks to be in stock on Amazon at the moment. So, I went ahead and ordered the last two Dragon Boxes I'm missing just to be safe. I just finished watching the fourth one, and I'm ready to finally take number five out of its shrink wrap.

Tapion gives his sword to young Trunks in Dragon Ball Z movie 13. However, the movies aren't considered canon, so that's not an entirely official explanation.

I do fondly remember that site's take on DBZ and its fandom, although I think it appealed more to my sense of humor as a teenager. Was it also known as "DBZ Blows Goats"?

Re: U.S Dragon Box & Japanese Dragon Box picture comparison.
It is noticeable on a CRT set (which is how I was watching the show when I found that Nappa shot from the first set), but it flies by very quickly. Unlike that still-frame Nappa shot—where it's obvious when the picture breaks up—it's less jarring during the fast-paced action of the Goku vs. Freeza f...
