Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

God damn the shot composition in this movie is so amazing. The entire production team should give themselves a pat on the back.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

Red's accent is like the least consistent thing sometimes, I'm not even sure.

Don't forget Nam's hilariously awful one.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

Man, imagine if we got a DB Super marathon or two with all those built up episodes. Would make catching up to the Japanese version a lot easier. For all we know they could be months worth of episodes into Super part 2 by the time the US gets done with the ToP.

Well, it's only been shown once. If nobody took a picture of the guy at that event, we're not seeing him until the film is officially released.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

It's not about specific lengths, or what you might consider to be unnecessary, it's all in direction and pacing -- it's also incredibly subjective and really not what I'm trying to discuss here. The point I was making is that regardless of all this, we don't know anything about the cut content from ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

We don't really need more of them. That said, General Blue is a good example of the complete opposite mindset. Even if you assert that they turned Oolong into a pedophile, all I'm saying is that that was just poor planning and ignorance on their part (since it's not like they stated him to be older,...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

Only the Saiyan and maaaaybe Freeza arcs of Kai move at a really acceptable rate for me, it slows down later. GT I guess probably doesn't have that many issues but finds a million other ways to end up being boring anyway. Super is written as a TV show first and foremost and it shows, is all I'm sayi...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

It's definitely possible that material was left out of the film, however I'm definitely not into the idea of leveraging that in making an entire TV adaptation when there's no guarantee that what was cut out was actually any good. It could be a massive waste of time, which would be a good reason to h...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

That's certainly a less-conventional design for an arc villain (I mean, aside from the lines coming down from the eyes, we seem to see a lot of those). He's dressed in big ol' rags by the looks of it. I kind of hope that's to mask the fact that he's not actually all that muscular and has a way of fu...

Well, it has hardcore underage animal breastfeeding. Maybe getting a screencap of that is part of where such a sexual rumor started.

On a related note, what the fuck, Toei?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

That...doesn't really answer anything I was saying. Besides "thA bUdgET" not being much of a factor for the series nowadays (and not a huge one for anime in general), it applies a lot less to Super since the only places they have to outsource to (besides the in-betweens like basically ever...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

Show me what TV series runs for hundreds of episodes with as much action as Dragon Ball, with as much or more animation, and designs more complicated than Super's, week-to-week, with no season breaks, without production collapsing at some point. It doesn't happen. Anything that the series is going t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

That's all boarding and direction, I'm talking about character designs and their relation to movement here. Not that I've ever really been as attached to Dragon Ball's general directorial tone as I have other series, but I think both Z and Super have mostly standout episodes in a sea of general blan...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

Anything is "possible" theoretically. Pumping copious amounts of work into something is always technically an option, but that's at the behest of the people working on it and potentially the consistency. Attack on Titan is a great-looking anime, but Studio WIT is about as close to a slave ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

More like "secret least worth keeping". A character we already know about, who we've already seen before, who already has very little depth, but whom doesn't have any changes to his personality, who doesn't have any changes to his outfit, and who doesn't actually finish the fight.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

Besides the fact that that's not really true, let me ask you to show me how much those images move. (Hint: you can't because they're mostly static). It's the same as posting a Takahashi drawing and saying "SEE? WHY DO PEOPLE SAY KITANO IS A BAD ANIMATOR". If you're gonna strawman this hard...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

I mostly just said that because Old Funimation was kinda stupid in general. Either way, plenty of JP characters had the same voices between ages and got replaced anyway. And regardless I'd much rather believe that it was an oversight to do Funi being stupid than the alternative, which was them activ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Well I think the implication is that this gun could knock Goku and Vegeta out because they were off-guard. But even if it were able to knock about anyone at any given time...how would that help them defeat Freeza if the Galactic Patrol were to confront him? They knock him out? Then what? They can't...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

It's more likely they chose Jackson for Oolong for the Z dub and then just didn't change to someone else by the time they did the DB dub because they were stupid. Nobody "chose" that, it was probably an oversight.
