Re: Will Toonami survive without new Dragon Ball Content?
One of the greatest directors to ever live directed 4 Hamtaro movies, all of which owned in different ways. They are classic in the same way most of his other works are. Hamtaro is good in general anyways.

Re: Did Dragon Ball Get Lucky?-The Good Faith Version.
Unfortunately Toei still band around the stupid kids excuse which leads to stupid things like censoring BDs and the fact that saying the series is aimed at kids they can get away with lazy writing. I think Toei does the usual company shtick, y'know the whole "we want all our works to be consum...

Re: Did Dragon Ball Get Lucky?-The Good Faith Version.
A number of JP fans have said this about the TV anime and I think agree with the point which is one of the primary reasons to DB and many other shows of that time's success. The novelty factor was the excitement of watching it in real time and it was also the time before streaming age and prevalence...

Yeah. It also kind of sadly shows that alt-right brainwashing is as effective as ever. Anime community has always had this problem thanks to the hellhole that is 4chan.

Re: Will Toonami survive without new Dragon Ball Content?
He hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. But, that's because I hate superhero shit and Disney with a burning passion. I'm no snob. I will defend kids media to death and consider them to be superior than most adult media anyways, especially in regards to anime, but cape shit and the large...

Final figures are out. It crawled and reached the ¥4bn mark in Japan. A ~7% increase over the previous movie. A respectable finish.

Lmao "western issues". LGBT+ folks exist everywhere in every part of the world. Diversity and inclusivity in media is a discussion that also happens in every part of the world including Japan.

Re: With DragonBall getting more and more global, it's time to include more lgbtqia+ characters
Hunter X Hunter has a canonical gay character, a trans character and non-binary characters who are all great. Killua is also gay af and its as overt as it gets, but I will still wait until Togashi makes it canon so that I don't have to deal with "muh canon" fans. None of that takes away fr...

Re: With DragonBall getting more and more global, it's time to include more lgbtqia+ characters
I doubt Toriyama has the ability to do that, but DB isn't Toriyama's alone anymore. Kale is very much a creation from the anime staff and she gay af. Of course, they could have done a better job with her, but DBS was a production mess so I'm happy with what we got. Hopefully, she gets more focus in ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
Baggie can explain in detail, but most DB merch is aimed at 15+ age group. Bandai even acknowledged that the core fan layer are adults. Given, none of its merch ever rank in top 10 for kids, it is pretty obvious where its fanbase lies. I'm sure kids watch DB, the kids ratings it got were decent(alth...

Last year's Precure series composer(head writer) and the series directors took all those aspects seriously and presented it in the most sincere way possible which is way better than any Western show I have ever seen. Precure always had this going for it since its inception. The father of the franchi...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
Yeah, but if memory serves, One Piece was moved in the early- mid 2000's precisely to save ratings, because it wasn't doing that well in that time slot anymore. DB's ratings were usually smaller than One Piece's. That was Sunday evenings, not Sat evenings. I find that speculation pretty weird cause...

Well, the DB community might just be rotten at its core. Disgusting. Hope the other cons have some fucking sense and morals left and don't invite him back.

Re: Is Dragon Ball cynical at its core?
It is. Super amplified it with the Tournament of Power being the most blatant example, but it was there for the most part in the original run as well. Tavarano made a great point about it somewhere in this forum and while I feel some of it is exaggerated, I mostly agree with that take. I guess that ...

Re: How on target or off base is this video discussing Racism in Dragon Ball?
Very interesting video. Thanks for posting. I mostly agree. All the black characters in the series are stereotyped to hell which is pretty terrible, but its pretty to understand why that is. It was even mentioned in the video. Western media's growing popularity(most of which were super fucking racis...

It is pretty much the anti-sjw crowd that come out of their bigoted holes whenever anything like this happens. I doubt many people care about this Mingogna situation, they just want to "own the libtards".

It is not insignificant though. It is part of a bigger problem which is sexual assault and power abuse. This VA is one of the many many people who get away with this kind of behaviour and in some cases outright rapists(Polanski for example) and I'd say that is a serious problem.

Re: Is Dragon Ball Your Favorite Anime Ever?
No. Never was. It probably won't rank even in my top 100 or anything if I were to make a list. I get its appeal and even enjoy it somewhat(modern DB can burn though), but there's just way better stuff out there that personally grab me in a way that DB can never do.

The poster of that thread is also me lol. But, eh why do all that math when you clearly have an age group that represents the most fans which is the 30-39 age group. And, hey if you add up the 20-39 age group it is significantly higher than 5-19 going by that logic. Yeah, you can say its a family sh...
