Re: What are these artworks for the new movie collections

That's something we've never seen before but, you know, the real crime is that the gosh darn red bold Blu-ray text is still there. In a way, it gives a 90's vibe but makes the covers look pretty crappy and underwhelming because of it. Not as if the Blu-ray case itself doesn't give a hint that it's ...

Thank you and luckily it's only a silhouette.

Designed some of the movies in the style of Ghibli's "silhouette series" Blu-rays

Wondered since seeing Studio Ghibli's Japanese Blu-rays (also known as the "silhouette series" ) how Dragon Ball's movies or TV specials would look given the same treatment. I decided on the following (timely) selection: http://u.cubeupload.com/jawdrahbk/dbmpm08web.jpg http://u.cubeupload....

Re: Manga UK's cover of "Dragon Ball GT: The Complete Series"

If this was somehow TOEI's doing then it's a pretty odd decision to leave that blank space. I was about to disagree but having just looked at Manga UK's seasons 1 & 2 of GT, it is odd that they've used a different logo on those to their complete set. Although I actually prefer the packaging the...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

The main site puts them all on a general " Movie Guide " page rather than a "Movies & Specials" page, if that's worth anything. Sure... Under the "Television specials" header, alongside the Summer Vacation and Year-End specials... And they're also present in the re...

Probably upscaled Dragon Box footage.

The Blu-ray for Movie 5 looks like it's been through the same process that the Movie 10 did that Toei had on their 60th anniversary YouTube channel (in 480p) not too long ago: https://i.imgur.com/8OUcENM.png https://i.imgur.com/Jft1kMC.png https://i.imgur.com/bGefYg6.png https://i.imgur.com/YaoxkWK....

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading that neither of these sets include the two opening and four ending animations? That's a dealbreaker.

Re: Manga UK's cover of "Dragon Ball GT: The Complete Series"

I think it's unfair to squarely place the blame on Manga UK. If I'm not mistaken, the artwork needs to be approved by Toei, perhaps it was their decision to change the logo. Clearly, the packaging was initially designed with the logo on Funimation's set in mind. I actually prefer that Manga UK's rel...

Re: Why isn't Dragon Ball / Z / GT available on the Play Store for stream?

Dragon Ball Super is but the classic Dragon Ball series aren't for some reason, I thought they'd be since it is on Xbox/Windows, PlayStation Video, Amazon Video and iTunes. If I'm not mistaken, you can stream the first Dragon Ball series in its entirety at Funimation's website if you're based in th...

This is probably a dumb and obvious question (and probably not ok to ask? if it isn't ok, you can delete this), but this is where you can buy and download them, right? https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/video/detail/B06Y17K7SY/ref=pd_cbs_318_9 Yes, but I'd wait until the Blu-rays are released before buyin...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

I definitely think the ship has sailed on a western release of Dragon Box - The Movies. Sure they would be nice to display on a shelf beside the US Dragon Boxes, but its an SD remaster, if Funimation licences these masters for a new release (which is highly likely) there's no question it would be m...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

What could these remasters mean for Dragon Box - The Movies? Since they're evidently no longer the most superior transfers available in Japan, perhaps now they'll be given an international English-subtitled release? Especially if the lack of Japanese video angles in Funimation/Madman/MangaUK's last ...

Movie 13 "Tape End Special"

Recently came across this and feel it's been mentioned before here but couldn't find a thread or post about it specifically. Following the ending credits of Speedy Video's release of Movie 13 (which seems to just use video from the Japanese VHS as is), there's a "special" segment featuring...

Re: Interview with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru and Masaki Sato

Thanks for sharing Psykomatik , we don't read from these two enough. Eguchi, Maeda, Nakatsuru and Sato's abilities are inspirational to say the least. Personally, the animation was at its peak whenever they, along with animators like Yamamuro, were involved; their attention to detail was evidently i...
