Re: When Ocean Cast switched to Funimation's In House.....
I was only 10 years old at the time but I do vividly remember the premiere (I remember it was promoted like crazy on Cartoon Network and I believe there was a short marathon that preceded it so the episodes could catch up to the premiere. It was a fairly big deal at the time...at least to 10 year ol...

Re: The difference of "Music by" and "Music Produced by"?
I highly doubt that Ron Wasserman produced Shuki Levy's music. Composers like Shuki would produce their own music I would think. There's not enough time to be sending the score around like that. Mike and I did arrangements of each others melodies sometimes(from something the other had already recor...

Apologies if this has already been answered, but do we know for sure whether or not the international version of the game contains the Kikuchi BGM? It's literally been the one reason I'd ever want to play one of these new games and I'm disappointed that every single game since Budokai Tenkaichi has ...

Re: Really bad compression on orange bricks?
Yeah, it's one of the many redrawn vector shots in Kai and the reason I took the pictures as a comparison between the hand drawn and the digital frames. I didn't mention anything since I didn't want to derail the topic, haha. It's mostly why I don't like Kai. The vector shots are very quick and they...

Re: Really bad compression on orange bricks?
It's kind of an inevitability. I've noticed a lot of macroblocking on the Dragon Box and Kai as well, particularly on blacks: http://imageshack.com/a/img43/2475/ai1n.png http://imageshack.com/a/img707/3572/8sil.png Vegeta's hair looks like a badly compressed jpeg on the Dragon Box shot, and there's ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 12/31
It's not that it isn't a decent release, it's that I don't want to pay $600+ for DBZ. :? Well, consider the fact that the singles used to cost about $20-25 a pop with usually three episodes a piece...four if you were lucky. As much as I dislike the scalpers that caused DBox 2 to skyrocket in price,...

The Dragon Boxes might be out of print and very expensive in the aftermarket, but I hardly think that somehow negates its legitimacy as a "decent release". It still very much exists.

One thing that really bothered me about movie 4's dub and everything afterward was that I expected the movies to be dubbed with the same amount of care that the first three were -- the original BGM, accurate scripts, etc and I remember being really, really disappointed with movie 4's DVD finally cam...

Huh, they're not labeling that portion of the manga as Dragon Ball "Z" for once. A nice surprise.

Re: Dragonball Intro question
That intro is on "Sleeping Princess in Devils Castle" though (and maybe the other movies too i'm not sure) which is a bit odd I think. I mean, why redo a more faithful intro for the season sets but leave the purely american made intro for the movies? Movie 2 was dubbed before they made th...

Re: Season 3 orange brick question.
Oh, oh, and I almost forgot, because "Ginyu Assault" in the 1999 dub was essentially one and a half episodes edited into one (Continuing exactly from the original dub's ending in the middle of an episode) the Faulconer music is mixed slightly differently in the Season Set, but only for th...

Re: Season 3 orange brick question.
Aside from the obvious (Cropped, "remastering", etc.), the singles don't contain the eyecatchers and just cut them out entirely (Making the Japanese version kind of off putting when the last second of the eyecatch audio always sneaks in when the second half of the episode starts), and as f...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray (Updated 09
Does anyone remember the hubub back in 2007 about how FUNimation stated their orange brick masters were scanned in 1080p and then downscaled to 480p for the DVD? I have a strange feeling if money was truly an issue then they're just going to slap those 1080p masters onto the BD if that's the case.

It's been like fifteen years since I've even seen the episode's original dub but doesn't Bulma look at a picture of the group in one episode and actually says "Lunch" properly?

Oh boy, year old necroposts and the links are dead. Good thing I'm a packrat; I updated all the dead links to Dropbox incase anybody new to the thread didn't have a clue of what I was talking about.

Re: What makes a particular Dragon Box so expensive?
I still say Dragon Box 2's asinine rise in value is because of scalpers spreading misinformation until they truly were gone. I don't particularly think Box 2 is any more or less rare than any of the others, and even if not, it's certainly not rare enough to demand $500 for a used copy. I'm still for...

Re: Toonami may potentially return.
I didn't see it air on TV, but from the clips I saw on Youtube it looked like the 2004 single DVD they used for footage. It was in fullscreen, stretched to 16:9, and the narration was Kyle Hebert's as opposed to Dale Kelly as it originally aired and I'm pretty sure he replaced Dale on that DVD.

No, the TV version, which in and of itself is practically a different being altogether, dubbed before any of the Pioneer movies with a completely different script featuring Ian Corlett instead of Peter Kelamis, scenes from assorted episodes spliced into the movie to fill time, which was not two but ...

They had to have produced more than one run. Remember when Box 2 went out of print in 2010, then suddenly went back in print a few months later?
