Re: Can we at least get new orange bricks?
As much as I'd like to see that, I feel like "modern" Toei would just have their Blu-Rays of original DB/Z/GT released as blurry upscales. They've been doing that recently for a lot of their classic 80's/90's TV shows on Blu-Ray. Saint Seiya, Slam Dunk, even their HD broadcast for Sailor M...

Re: people Taking db too seriously
Back in high school, I used my VHS fansubs to insist and " prove" the show was for adults and that the dub version "toned it down" quite a bit.
Glad nowadays I've chilled the heck out and repeat to myself "It's just a show, I should really just relax."

Re: Is Dragonball the greatest cartoon ever?
No. The Simpsons is. At least the first ten seasons. The DragonBall franchise is one of my absolute favorites, for sure. Greatest cartoon ever? That's highly a subjective and debatable topic. In terms of audience appeal, action, adventure, design, and scope, DragonBall is defintely up there IMO. But...

Re: Can we at least get new orange bricks?
As much as I would love for them to dump out a 4:3 release of DBZ on DVD, that ship has looooong sailed. At most, we'd see a "barebones" repackaging of the OB discs hitting stores in the future. Most entertainment companies don't bother re-encoding/re-mastering/re-authoring their DVDs, whe...

Re: Could Dragon Ball air on Boomerang?
Most American TV networks keep copies of everything they air, so I'm sure the old Toonami/CN versions of DB/Z/GT are sitting in storage in some building at Turner somewhere. Will they ever air them? Who knows? Unless I'm mistaken, any network that airs Dragon Ball footage (even they have the old tap...

Haven't watched (or cared to watch) the old Z dub in years, so this slipped right by me.
Interesting discovery for those who follow that product though...

Re: What is the best version of the manga?
I'd say to try and pick up the Full Color Editions... However, Viz is releasing them slowly on a "per arc" basis. So, the only sure way we'd get all of it is to buy it. Otherwise, I'd say pick up the VizBigs, they pack more content per volume and actually feel more like a collector's relea...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Blu-Ray or DVD
At this point, I'd get the Blu-Rays. The "remastering" looks less bad, and the Japanese audio track sounds better due to some mild cleanup.

Re: Dub consistency, or no dub consistency. That is the ques
The FUNI dubs weren't even consistent with themselves... which makes this question an interesting one. Even Kai and the new movies have small inconsistencies and flip-flopping cast members (Different narrators, 18 and Oolong voices b/w Kai and BoG) If I ever cared to re-watch the original shows in E...

Re: DBZ PS2 games on the PS4?
They pretty much did... Budokai HD Collection (containing 1 & 3) has replaced non-Yamamoto music. And the last 2 Sparking!/Tenkaichi games have non-Yamamoto BGM for their international versions. The only weird one I could see would be Tenkaichi 3/Sparking! METEOR having Super Survivor replaced.

Re: English dubbed Dragonball Z Resurrection F edited?
What he said. There haven't been any "edited" home releases from FUNimation since like... 2006.
Also, if the release contains the Japanese audio track, you know you've gotten the unedited release.

Re: What you think about DBS?
It isn't Dragon Ball. Just because it has action and humor does not make it anything like Dragon Ball. I'll agree with you that it doesn't feel like Dragon Ball in terms of the musical presentation. Sumitomo's score feels like it could be to anything, definitely not what I imagine a Dragon Ball-sco...

Re: Most memorable BS dub lines / names
This a completely throwaway line from Season Three's dub, but I still remember it to this day: Goku (vs. Ginyu): "Man, he packs a wallop! Ow, my tooth is loose." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG90cDcP99U&t=6m37s I think it's because of Schemmel's awkward delivery that makes it almost ...

Re: Best Freeza dub voice?
For all the crap people give Pauline Newstone, at least she managed to make her Freeza sound intimidating during her stint in the original dub. Linda Young, I'm sure she's a very lovely person and is definitely talented, but I never felt any menace in her Freeza voice. She's great as cranky martial-...

Re: What you think about DBS?
The show itself is fine. Especially the episodes that are covering new material. I look forward to seeing how they differ up the RoF arcs and onward. My only real nitpicks are: 1) The rushed animation at times 2) The BoG material took WAY too long to get through. I feel like the only reason the staf...

Re: Cell in the FUNI dub compared to Freeza
Dameon Clarke did a fine job as Cell, and sounded even better in the Kai dub. Everyone character cast for the dub after the Freeza arc benefitted from not having to "imitate" a pre-established voice from the Ocean cast. With the exception of Fat Buu, I feel that every other voice actor fro...

Re: Old Movies FUNimation dubs how are they?
When I mentioned in a previous thread that the FUNimation dub of DBZ was inconsistent with the occasional moment of brilliance, their dubs of the Z movies embody this idea the best.
