Re: Anyone else miss saiyan tails
I miss them because they add to the "alien character" of the Saiyans, a visual reminder that they are not quite the same as humans. Especially now where we might be getting a true Saiyan culture, I would have liked that visual difference, not just "super strong humans with glowing hai...

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
Him not training for years makes sense,he realized in Super that he needs to become stronger in order to protect his loved ones. That's a good developement on his part. Didn't he go through this exact thing during the Buu arc ? him letting himself get weak AGAIN shows that he didn't learn anything f...

Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
The manga is not an "alternate adaptation" of Super. Why not? It is an adaptation of the anime, sure. I object to the word "alternate" mostly, like there is some platonic ideal of DBS that has two versions, the manga and the anime. No, it is more like a tie-in movie novelization...

Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
I agree with DBZGTKOSDH , people should be free to choose whichever adaptation of Super they like. So far, there aren't any compelling plot reasons to accept one or the other as the "true story" by Toriyama. People are free to do whatever always. There are still compelling *reality* reaso...

Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
Consistency doesn't make something canon or not canon -- Dragon Ball is not particularly consistent with *itself* in the manga, yet nobody is going to argue that RRA arc is not canon to the Pilaf arc. Super "manga" fits better because it covers less stuff. Toriyama doesn't care about issue...

Re: Should Funimation skip the first two DB Super arcs?
Hmm.. This is a difficult question. I think among fans of the series who are into watching things as soon as they come out and whatnot, of course the retellings are pointless, but is that most of the market that would see DBS on TV? I know lots of people who were "into dragon ball" back in...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
See, that makes less sense to me: you have much more time to make box art and it has way more impact than any individual shot in an anime. And it is a still shot that everyone is going to see. So it should look nicer!

Re: You think Android 17 should make an appearance in DBS?
For a slice of life episode, sure -- it would be nice to see 18 and 17 interacting. For fighting, no. I don't want him to turn evil and as for fighting on the good side, we already have plenty of characters that are in the main cast at that level that could do with more chances to fight: no reason t...

Re: Would you like a more mature and deeper db story
I just wanna get this out of the way I love db the way it is and I honestly have no problem with the tone of the show because db is a kids show after all. I've always wanted to have a deeper and more mature version of the series(done by someone else)kinda like some of the star wars novels about the...

Re: Is this how you imagined the franchise being revived?
I had no expectations the franchise would ever be revived in the early 2000s. Videogames, sure, or a third party movie like Evolution, but not anything written by Toriyama or even a series.

Re: What happens if Raditz became a Super Saiyan?
Well, the statement was no character is SSJ and weaker than first form freeza. I think SSJ Bardock is close enough to first form Freeza to satisfy this condition if he can beat Chilled at all and might be around 5x10^5 power level.

Re: 84% of Japanese college students have never read Dragon
Not so shocking: some of the ones that didn't read it saw the anime. And I'm sure it is part of the general consciousness where people haven't read something but think they know enough about it: e.g. I never read batman or superman comics but I still have a sense of the lore. Close to 20% is actuall...

Re: Smartest character in the series?
Smart, in what sense? Seems like there are two types of smart here: has a lot of arcane/ancient knowledge or can cobble up physics altering science with a box of parts in a cave. Dr. Brief is also missing.
Cell, though: how is he smart in either sense?

Re: What happens if Raditz became a Super Saiyan?
I think that minimum requirement of SS is that it must be stronger than freeza (atleast first form). No being in the series have been a super saiyan & weaker than first form freeza, canon or not canon. (Except that goku Jr & vegeta Jr thing. They aren't even 1/4 saiyans. They are like 90+% ...

Re: What is the best version of the manga?
I don't find the 3-in-1s fragile, fwiw. I mean, don't completely crack the spines like any other paperback, but the pages aren't falling off or something -- I've had manga do that before when the glue/binding sucked, but these seem pretty sturdy in terms of binding. The covers are pretty pliable, t...

Re: Do you think Yamcha was bullied by his family?
The idea of his mother and sisters bullying him making him afraid of women doesn't make sense to me, though. He isn't afraid of Chichi, for example, who is too young, and probably wouldn't have been afraid of someone like Uranai Baba. He is just shy/scared around women he finds attractive, not scare...
