Re: Why are they retconning the original Bardock special? Now it's no longer canon?

It does seem weird that they would completely shelve any ideas or plot point from the TV special, as that is the main reason Bardock is as popular as he is to this very day. Hopefully some of the cooler elements of his story and character will be present in the film.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

You’ll never enjoy any story if you see things only in extremes. Life isn’t all black and white. Roshi can disapprove of Goku’s methods without treating him like a brain-damaged toddler upstart. So many seem to think he was talking down to Goku in that interaction... The way it's written is why peo...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

The point was Goku tried to access UI [That power]. All his past teachings was similar to Whis teachings on how to access UI. It wasn't about movement but about the state of Goku's spirit. Read Doctor's comment Yes, trying to tie together all of the teachings of Goku's previous masters is stupid be...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Goku needing more power is NOT a mistake. The WAY he went about it was the problem. It is vintage Goku to risk his body's well being for more power. This is not regression but continuation. So he should get more power from learning how to dodge? Man come on, you all can't be serious. Everybody is t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

We don’t know if he kept training with King Kai for those seven years when dead. And he used King Kai’s planet as a gym, not training directly under him. Also, he only got six months for the Saiyans. He spent the first six months on Snake Way. Which is why I said "or at least under his guidanc...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

He trained with Kama and Popo longer, three years. No. He literally has trained under or at least under his guidance for about a decade; 1 year before Saiyan's arrival, 7 years while he was dead, and continued to go there until Whis accepted him as a pupil. We don’t know if he kept training with Ki...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Twitter has had a serious negative effect on Dragon Ball discussion. Talented artists and memers attract followers for what they're good at, and all of a sudden they have a huge platform from which to spew their crappy opinions with authority. Yes, Goku thinking he needs more power is a MISTAKE. It...

Re: Would y’all like it if Tori rebooted other Z Movie/GT villains?

Considering most of the movie villains were pretty blatant knock-offs of villains from the manga, I'd hardly see a reason for Toriyama to reboot any of them except for Broly [and Wheelo, Bojack, and Hoi/Hirudegarn], because we already have his versions. On the GT side, I think finally having a Tori...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Roshi has this ability for the same reason that Tien didn't use the Kikoho against the androids. It is bad writing, but not in a way that isn't standard for dragon ball. Roshi is obviously not supposed to be strong, and certainly not stronger than Goku. Also, the way you say, "seconds ago,&quo...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Roshi only used a bootleg version of UI while Goku actually tapped into legit UI after being reminded by his teacher of the principles. That's not more skilled that's just being more aware of ones teachings. I feel the issue with many people is that it was, in fact, Roshi that was needed to be the ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

He is stronger, just not faster because of Roshi's false Ultra Instinct You also previously stated that Roshi did better than Goku, but... 1. Jiren was probably more suppressed against Roshi 2. Even then, Goku visibly hurt Jiren and survived powerful direct hits, whereas Roshi didn't ever hit Jiren...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Some people are claiming that Roshi has no right to give Goku advice because Goku surpassed him. Others are claiming that Roshi has knowledge and experience that is very valuable. Knowledge and experiences Goku doesn't have. No one's made that claim here, as far as I'm aware in this thread. The arg...

I might not have read the start of this Roshi/Goku experiences part in this thread, so bare with me. But what was the original point about then? Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Again, i bring up the arguement of Lebron James vs his high school gym coach. I'm sure that with all the foundations his teacher laid, he has never experienced the game of basketball to the level Lebron James has in his much shorter lifespan. Cool. Here's another example: Let's look at an army gene...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

And that’s a bad thing? One Piece is much better written show than all of Z. Given characters spotlight instead of tossing them in the trash when they’re not needed anymore isn’t a negative or ‘fan-service’. It gives a character depth, something Z lack a lot of the time. Yes, that's a bad thing. On...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

If Goku remembered his teachings, he would of tapped into UI during Whis explanation on it himself. Which resembled his past principles. This was the whole point of Roshi reminding Goku. So it's not a regression or inconsistency but a continued plot point. How would Roshi even know what was taught ...
