Re: So I rewatched Dragon Ball GT

Weird thing about the fights in GT is that the side fights - Baby Goten vs. Gohan for example, and especially Baby Gohan vs. Vegeta at the wind farm - are often more satisfying than the big arc fights like Goku vs. Baby Vegeta. Those side fights match some of the best main battles in Z , but the mai...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Hell, as far as canon goes, I'm perfectly happy not to recognize material that Toriyama's had a direct hand in when it's awful - like Dragonball Minus. Just terrible. Consequently, the TV Special is still "my" canon.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I dislike Vegeta. I really dislike Vegeta, and not just because he pulled my arms off.

(Srsly, I think the character is annoying and his rivalry with Goku is stale as Hell. I don't "love to hate" him; he gets X-Pac Heat from me and I wish he'd go away.)

Re: Favorite dragon ball villains

Dragon Ball: King Piccolo
Dragon Ball Z: Nineteen (say what you will, I find clowns horrifying, and I think the original FUNi dub voice even works to his advantage.)
Dragon Ball GT: Baby
Dragon Ball Super: Fused Zamasu
The films: Dr. Wheelo/Uiro (great sci-fi/horror vibe), Turles and Janemba.

Re: So I rewatched Dragon Ball GT

The problem I've found with GT's fights is that, more than ever, it defaults to generic ki attacks and maybe a few punches if we're lucky. There's no interest or battle strategy at all. I'd agree with the exception of the Luud fight. That had a pretty interesting dynamic, with Goku on the outside a...

Re: The All-Purpose "What-If " Thread

What if Saichoro/Guru had been alive when Goku got out of the rejuvenation tank on Namek and Goku visited him to get his potential unlocked before engaging Freeza? How strong would Goku have become, and would it have been enough to make a difference pre-Super Saiyan?

Re: What's Next For Freeza In Terms Of Power?

Hopefully nothing. I really do feel it's time for him to go back in the box for awhile, so that some other long-forgotten characters can play catch up (and hopefully with a more plausible story behind their power boosts this time).

Re: Unanswered questions that you wish were answered?

The one I'm most interested in above all? How would the Android arc have played out had Toriyama's former editor not convinced him to change the focus of the arc from 19 and Gero to 17 and 18? I don't know how far along the plot had been developed when that decision was made, but the story is unusua...

Re: Could Goku Have Achieved UI At Any Time Before The ToP?

It couldn't have been UI, simply because the concept didn't exist at the time. It's certainly something though, suggesting that the idea that a Super Saiyan + a Spirit Bomb = Something Else was kicking around people's heads long before Super was conceived.

Re: Could Goku Have Achieved UI At Any Time Before The ToP?

Movie 7 would seem to have been the ideal setting for it (had UI been invented out-of-universe at the time), given Goku's absorption of the Spirit Bomb in the film. And it definitely seems to have done... something... to Goku. https://78.media.tumblr.com/8560e38760b26ce9a05181eaf8604425/tumblr_mflwb...

Re: If you could change the course/result of a fight...

I'd have liked to have seen Piccolo put up a bit more of a fight against Frieza's third form, simply because I want to know just how strong it is. We have basically no idea about it. EDIT: Or better yet, have Piccolo put up just enough of a fight against it that Goku arrives and takes over and domin...

Re: Considering Gokuu and Freeza were both tired and injured

If anything, I'd say that 150 million and 120 million were their maximum powers regardless, and Freeza being overall less battered than Goku (whose stamina was restored by his transformation, IMO) was what helped initially him put up such a good fight at his 100% power. I've always seen it this way...

Could Piccolo handle/manipulate a Spirit Bomb?

If I recall correctly - and I admit I very well might not, it's been ages - the Spirit Bomb had some sort of emotional component to it, similar to the Kintoun/Flying Nimbus: basically, you have to be "good at heart" to handle it, and it would only hurt you if you were "evil". Now...

Re: The general American fanbase really annoys me.

There's a reason for that, though: say what you will about the Americanized DBZ being so far removed from the spirit of the Japanese original, at bottom, it's not that different. It's just that the emphasis is on different elements. Even the original dubbed Japanese version of DBZ involves a lot of ...

Re: Piccolo's Battle Power after King Kaiou's training.

I agree with the comments that suggest he was around the Ginyu Force's level of power. I myself would peg him on the upper-end of that scale -- around 80,000-100,000, but it's all subjective. The only thing that really suggests as much is that Nail seems very impressed with his power even before mer...

Re: If Piccolo had fused with Kami before meeting Freeza.

Frankly, I think people have a tendency to grossly overstate the strength of Androids 17 and 18. While we don't know any battle power levels after SSJ Goku's 150,000,000 on Namek, we can make informed speculations as to how powerful certain characters were thereafter. And while the Androids/Artifici...

Re: Krillin(Buu Saga) vs Freeza

I do wonder what would happen if you took Tenshinhan and, say, gave him Goku's 100x gravity chamber and ten years to train. Would he be a match for any of Frieza's forms? I like to think it's within their power to become as strong as you please. The humans just don't have a way to cheap themselves t...

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie

Movie Four is undeniably the worst. Well, undeniably to me, at any rate. The villain is a rehashed combination of Daimao and Frieza, the animation is mostly poor except for some select backgrounds, and even the theme of a villain doing harm to the environment was explored in the film immediately pre...

Re: Was Nappa stronger than post-Kaiou trained Gokuu?

I have no problem at all with the official power level of 4,000 for Nappa. Nappa did no better against Goku than the members of the Ginyu Force did later on against him, when their power level disparities were about the same. And if Nappa were much stronger than 4,000, the Z Fighters should have don...
