Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I'm too very confused about what you're referring to. I'm talking about the Level set Blu-rays , but the fact that they also didnt finish the Ultimate Uncut DVDs says something about how this release has a risk of going unfinished. "This release"? You mean the anniversary set Re packaged?...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Let's hope they actually finish the release this time. Are you referring to the UUEs/Level Sets or the Black Bricks? I'm too very confused about what you're referring to. Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
For anyone hoping that this might become the new standard, that's what we thought when they released the DBox and then they abandoned the Level sets super quickly to go back to 16:9. Funi even had a survey asking 4:3 vs 16:9 and, even through fans who took the survey had more interest 4:3, they stil...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I'm literally the only one among them who cares about the nitpicky details and I'd rather not burden them with the "every release is terrible" mindset when they're all hardcore martial artists who happen to like DBZ rather than hardcore DBZ fans that happen to train in martial arts . But ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I really don't care to protest this release. It's in 4:3 and the majority of fans don't hate the DNR. I'll let my friends who aren't super deep into the fandom know that these exist and let them decide for themselves whether they want it on Bluray in 4:3 or if they're just gonna stream it in 16:9 on...

Re: Is it time to accept Faulconer OST did it better than the original?
Absolutely not! "Modernizing" the show with replacement BGM takes out a huge part of the show's soul because that BGM feels like the BGM from the Kung Fu movies that inspired Toriyama.
Taking that BGM away from DBZ is like saying DBZ would be better without martial arts

Re: Was the Level remastering REALLY too expensive, though? Almost certainly not.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this, but I'm thoroughly convinced that this was ready to go in 4:3 before the Blu-ray season sets came out and they cropped it to 16:9 despite what fans voted for in the survey about DBZ Blu-rays. They're just selling the season sets to us again in a special...

Re: The Good old days of Dragonball websites.
I was more of a Geocities kind of guy. I was all about GeoCities, too! I had at least one Dragon Ball fansite dedicated to what I learned about "ki" (breathing and shouting techniques) in relation to my Taekwondo training. Some of it got a little too far out there for practical use but my...

Re: Toei should promoto Piccolo more as a LGBTQQIP2SAA character
If we're gonna speak anecdotally, it's gotten harder for LGBTQ folks (especially of the T variety) thanks to Republicans since about 2016 or so. I can't even say "Piccolo is canon asexual and there are asexual folks who see themselves in the character" without some guy chaining alt-Right c...

Relative this level of nonsense and what they have to put up with almost daily, both Kendamu and Julie here have been nothing less than straight-up saintly to you in their level or patience and restraint in this fucking thread. I try and behave when I make appearances on this forum. I have lifelong...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?
It's even sillier to look at when the folks I see getting wrapped up in it don't even have access to the products they're trying to promote. the way I process Dragon Ball is different than how they process Dragon Ball so it's best that we just let each other do our own thing. Huh... Shouldn't you p...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
The raw unfortunately does not look as good in motion and making it reasonably presentable is a lot of work. It really is a huge undertaking. I believe they could do it, but they would need to plan it a little better than they did this remaster, or the Level Sets remaster. Both suffered from differ...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?
The revival of the franchise has afforded me some great opportunities! I've been to some cool places, some fun DB events, and made some really good friends from doing so! I've also experienced some hardship from it but I think I came out stronger for it! Some folks also think I've squandered my oppo...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast
Dragon Ball is born from Toriyama's love of Kung Fu cinema. If whoever is working on this rumored project keeps that in mind, they could end up making something at least as good as Dragon Tiger Gate (you can watch it on Netflix in the USA). DTG was adapted from a Chinese comic and is a very good mov...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
It's interesting how the watery line work on from the Cell Game that's present on the Blu-ray sets are also present on the 30th Anniversary sets.
And what's this I've read on Twitter about Funi adding fake grain on top of the footage as a form of damage control?

Re: Toei should promoto Piccolo more as a LGBTQQIP2SAA character
You are free to interpret Piccolo however you like. If him being a plant alien in a strange world resonates with someone being nonbinary, then all the power to you. You seem to throw out a lot of strawman arguments - acknowledging something that is blatantly related to identity politics as such is ...

Re: Toei should promoto Piccolo more as a LGBTQQIP2SAA character
Hi. There's not a ton of positive queer representation in mainstream media. If there is representation it's often subtext only. Because of this we tend to interpret a lot of characters in our own completely valid way. If you're not into the idea of Piccolo being NB or Ace in the same context that a...

Re: The future of Kaioken Blue and Blue Evolution
Did they though? “Full Power” Super Saiyan wasn’t really a separate form. "Did they, though?" Yes, they did skip over SS2 and 3. Also, while FPSS wasnt a separate form, it was a distinct thing that the other characters noticed when Goku and Gohan emerged from the RoSaT and the amount of &...
