Re: Goku Time. They learned nothing from GT.

Actually, i like how the Future Trunks arc put more focus on Trunks rather than Goku. Not because i like Trunks, but because it was a nice breath of fresh air. Vegeta also got memorable moments in that arc, like episode 63. And, obviously, i adore how Goku couldn't defeat the villain. He was outmat...

Re: Do you think Toei botched Jiren?

Yes, he still has no discernible character. Apparently he has some in the manga but as of now he's just a less annoying Broli. Yeah they could give him more after the tournament but I still think they're behind on giving Hit his character. Also there's no mystery here. nothing has been teased or su...

Re: Goku Time. They learned nothing from GT.

Doctor. wrote:"Why is Goku the main character?" and "Why does the main character win?" is basically all this thread can be summed up as.
Even then, his win record is garbage.

Re: Goku Time. They learned nothing from GT.

Super seems about the level of OG DB tbh. It really isn't close to being as bad as GT was, but it definitely feels like a saga in OG DB this saga. But this goes with the entire issue in that the entire series isn't just about Goku, it revolves around him. For a few sagas in OG it'd be almost entirel...

Re: Do you think Toei botched Jiren?

Jiren is perfect for what he seems intended to represent which is a walking fleshly force of nature that the protagonist has to overcome. We know little else about Jiren except that he's a Pride Trooper. In the manga we're given a good initial glimpse into his humanitarian ideology and aversion tow...

Re: Do you expect Hit to be a low-key character as Super progresses?

Hit's position as a power player in the franchise was doomed the moment it was discovered that you can overcome his best abilities simply by being strong enough. As time goes on, the challenges get stronger (think Jiren), which means this will become more apparent as time goes by. I don't remember ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

How do you folks feel about Toppo spoilers for 125 as in what is implied? I'm excited. I've been itching for a Toppo episode for some time. Jiren and Dyspo already got some focus and good fights already. Now it's Toppo's turn. Overall, I'm glad they're extending these fights against the last 3 memb...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

With the segment of my post specifically referenced I was speaking more in terms of a wider-cast generality and their possible avenues for bringing Jiren down. In relation to Hit, the tactics he used were very straightforward and conventional. There wasn't much attempt at a non forward directional ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Eh... I'm not so sure. In the Goku vs Beerus example, their fight can be summarised as a tried & true fisticuffs scrimmage. If the originality and out of the box thinking was there then where were the power independent techniques like the Taiyoken or Kienzan? Why doesn't Goku attack with a diff...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Funny? Nah I think you meant epic, also I would like to see him attaining Ultra Instinct (Freeza owning Jiren ass while "Ka Ka Kachi Daze" plays would be priceless on screen) and he possibily winning this tournament for some twist. More like frieza taking a cheap shot to jiren when the la...

Re: Do you think Toei botched Jiren?

He is NOT killing the ratings nor the merchandise, stop trolling. Bandai is gonna make more money from Dragon Ball than any other property but Jiren is killing the merchandise  What? Do you people check facts or just make shit up to push your agenda? Jiren is not "killing the merchandise...

Re: Do you think Toei botched Jiren?

It's so weird. Jiren's personality is quite paper thin in the anime, but at the same time, he's shown to be more of a character who speaks through actions than words, and that ironically makes him all the more unique. He's the sort of antagonist we really haven't had in Dragon Ball so far He is wha...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Currently, Vegeta doesn't have more wins than Goku. I'm fairly certain that Vegeta has more wins, because he's within a few eliminations in the tournament, but he also defeated Ginyu from the RoF arc, and 3 dudes in the U6 tournament. Either way, even if he doesn't have more, they're within like 1 ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

I thought what Vegeta got from the manga was fine. Having him wreck Black at first without even establishing Black as a threat at all, and not having Goku fight Black once was terrible though. As for Vegeta fighting Jiren, it's not like he was ever going to accomplish anything major against him con...

Re: Character interactions between Goku, Freeza and the Androids in the tournament of power arc.

Probably one of the best things about this saga besides the music imo. They've changed up the dynamic with Goku and Freeza to make it feel like they're genuine archenemies. I love that. As with Goku and the Cyborgs. Two individuals created to kill him, and he's been developing a growing friendship w...

Re: Do you expect Hit to be a low-key character as Super progresses?

Well he's a major rival of Goku's who isn't Vegeta. Even though Vegeta as a rival isn't treated any differently than Ten, Piccolo, Hit, or Jiren (in that after his debut saga he's almost always lagging behind Goku and Goku loses interest in him as a rival), he does get to remain relevant power wise....

Re: Do you think Toei botched Jiren?

At the moment? Far too early to tell. But considering we're going to be having 5+ episodes with U7 facing U11, we haven't even reached the big fight with Jiren yet either. Regardless of how anyone feels about Jiren as a character, I think it's premature to say they've botched something when the saga...
